I personally don't buy sugar in bulk.
Instead, I fill the sugar dispenser with candies, dried fruits, and other sweet treats.

I'm not crazy about washing my sugar grinder in the dishwasher, I'm afraid the gold plating will wear off quickly.
I hand wash it with a soft sponge and dish soap.
