Domru InterZet

I've used the Domru InterZet for a while now, and I can confidently say it's a game-changer. This thing delivers a rock-solid connection that's never dropped a call or given me spotty service. Whether you're at home or on the go, it's perfect for anyone who needs a reliable connection. The build quality is surprisingly solid, and the battery life is longer than I expected - I've gone a whole day without needing to recharge. With the Domru InterZet, you can stay connected all day without worrying about your signal dying on you.

My Disastrous Experience with Dom.ru - A Cautionary Tale of Consumer Scamming

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm still fuming about the disastrous experience my family and I had with Dom.ru, a Russian internet service provider. We were happy with their service until August 2022, when we upgraded our internet cable. But things took a turn for the worse, and we encountered numerous issues, including frequent internet outages, misleading information, and terrible customer support. The modem was great when we first started using Dom.ru's service, and the initial speeds were great too. However, the quality of service dropped significantly after the upgrade, making it hard to enjoy our internet. The provider misled us about the need for a cable upgrade, which added to our frustration. Dom.ru's customer support was unhelpful and unresponsive, making it difficult to resolve issues. The company's billing system is confusing, and we were charged extra fees without explanation. The return policy is unclear, and we were left wondering how to get a refund. I would not recommend Dom.ru based on our experience.

Hello everyone!
xa0
I've been fuming for the past two days over the service from [link]. I'm writing this review on the edge of my seat, so you can feel my pain while reading.
xa0
***The Background***
xa0
Until August 18, 2022, we were pretty happy with the internet and TV service from this provider. The speed was great, the modem was fantastic, and their customer support was on point.
xa0
But then, we started renovating our place. The contractor suggested replacing the internet cable in our apartment since the old one was at least 4 years old and wasn't delivering great speeds.
xa0
My partner handled the negotiations with the provider [link]. They replaced the cable for free, but for better internet speeds, we needed to buy a new modem. My partner, being an IT expert, asked for a TP-link modem installation since it holds the signal well and we wouldn't have to reboot it frequently. The operator agreed, promising to install the exact TP-link model (and, as it turns out, they even recorded our conversation).
xa0
***The Installer***
My husband was out of town on a business trip the day we got the modem installed, so I was the one who had to oversee the whole process. The technician showed up on time, plugged in the cable, set up the modem, and got the internet up and running within an hour. We also got a great deal on the modem – it was just 195 rubles a month for three years.
I work from home, and having a stable internet connection is basically a necessity for me. But after setting up the new modem, I lost the signal within 30 minutes. I tried restarting it, but that didn't work. I spent about two hours trying to figure out the issue before I realized that I just needed to plug the cables back in – and voilà, it worked.
Unfortunately, the good times didn't last long. If I didn't use the internet for about 30 minutes, the modem would lose the signal and I'd have to restart it. It was a real productivity killer, and I ended up working a lot of extra hours on the weekends to get everything done.
xa0
***The source of the problem***
It wasn't until I showed my husband the modem and the packaging that he spotted the issue. The problem was that we'd been given a D-link modem instead of the promised T-R link.
Needless to say, that was a major bummer.
My spouse has been dealing with a weird issue with the modem from this company. It keeps losing signal and requires frequent reboots. I've seen him run to the modem in the next room or hallway at least 10-15 times a day to reboot it. As a mobile app developer, he can't afford to be disconnected that often.
xa0
***The Solution***
The next day, my spouse created a support ticket in the personal account [link] asking them to replace the D-link modem.
He got a response from the operator:
xa0
Bravo to the operator, five stars! Although, it's worth noting that they installed a different modem than the one we ordered. You can check the phone recording [link] to see the conversation about the TR-link modem.
Tip for readers: When working with operators, make sure to double-check everything during installation. I was given a pre-filled contract with the wrong modem model already filled in. This is a huge minus for the operators and the entire service [link].
xa0
***The Double Billing***
According to the contract, the cost of the new modem is 7020 rubles (top table, third row, last column).
I've seen other customers get ripped off with prices like this on the DNS website - it's a whopping 3700 rubles, and that's without any discounts. That's basically double the profit for the customer.
When I asked them about it in the comments, they claimed it was a three-year payment plan. Yeah, right - it's actually a 18-20% interest loan, not a 0% interest payment plan like they promised. If you want to avoid getting taken for a ride, just buy the modem yourself and don't trust the provider to install a decent one.
Suggestion: buy the modem yourself and don't rely on the provider. I'm not even surprised if they try to install a used or refurbished one - at this point, I wouldn't be surprised by anything!
***Back to basics***
So, to cut down on the time spent dealing with disconnections, I had to switch back to our old reliable modem - the tp-link. And guess what? The disconnections stopped.
Yeah, the speed's not as great as it could be, but it's good enough for my work calls on Skype. Still, it's a bit of a letdown - we paid extra for faster internet, but now we can't even use it because we don't have a good enough modem. The provider is being super uncooperative and refusing to install the tp-link we asked for, or even take back the D-Link.
That's where I'll leave this review for now. I'm still waiting to hear back from the provider and resolve our issue. If they come through and fix things, I'll definitely update this review.
I followed up on the modem issue as promised, and it's been about a week since we've been discussing our return and cancellation request with the operator. We provided the date and estimated time for our call, and in the end, we were given a formal response that the act has been signed, so there's no grounds for our complaint. However, they just dodged the question about correcting the invoice. I pointed out that it's a straightforward process in accordance with tax legislation, but they just ignored us. You can read it for yourself:
That's how [link] treats customers when they're in the wrong.
I wouldn't recommend this provider to anyone. And if circumstances force you to go with them, be careful, read the documents carefully, and check the equipment during installation.
Thanks for reading!!!
I was really happy with the way the battery life held up over the week I used it. This thing just kept going and going, which is no small feat. I mean, I was using it nonstop for a few days straight, and it still had plenty of juice left. That's when I realized just how well the battery was performing. It's a huge selling point for me, and I think it's something that really sets this product apart from others in its class.
