Tefal's Compact Storage Series: A Game-Changer for Small Kitchens - My Honest Take

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently picked up the Tefal compact storage series and I'm stoked to share my honest take on this game-changing kit with a detachable handle. It's not just about the sleek design – the build quality and ease of use have won me over. The skillets can be stacked and take up less space, making it perfect for small kitchens like mine. The handle comes as a separate item, which is a total game-changer for me. I've been a fan of Tefal cookware for a while, but this set has exceeded my expectations. The series ingenio is a compact storage line where all the cookware comes with a detachable handle. The kit contents include two skillets, 22cm and 26cm in diameter, a 16cm ladle, and one detachable handle for all. I used it for a week and the build quality surprised me. The buttons feel solid and the battery lasts longer than I expected.

I recently picked up a compact storage series from Tefal, and I'm excited to share my thoughts on this game-changing kit with a detachable handle.
I've had limited experience with this particular set, just over a month now, but I've been a fan of Tefal cookware for a while. In fact, the only time I was left with a bad impression was when I bought a cheap pan from Lenta.
This year, my trusty 26cm skillet finally gave up and needed to be replaced. So, as soon as I saw the sale on the official Tefal website, I ordered a set of three items – actually, four, as it's listed on the site. The handle comes as a separate item.
Series ingenio – a compact storage line where all the cookware comes with a detachable handle. The skillets can be stacked and take up less space. They're currently stored in my cabinet, stacked on top of each other, with the handle kept separately.
Kit contents: this set includes two skillets, 22cm and 26cm in diameter, a 16cm ladle, and one detachable handle for all.
Price. I paid around 3160 rubles for this set. Plus, I got a higher cashback from Tinkoff for this purchase, around 10 or 12 percent – I'm not quite sure which.
Each piece of cookware has a 'Made in France' label. I hope that's true, because I had a bad experience with a pancake griddle I bought from Lenta on sale, with a 'Made in China' label. The griddle wore off after just three months, and the non-stick coating started to stick.xa0
Features are the same for all Tefal cookware:
External and internal non-stick coatingThermal spot in the center – indicating the optimal temperature for use. It's only on the skillets, not the ladle.
Bottom with even heat distribution.
Ladle is small, with slightly curved edges, and holds 1.6 liters. It's enough for cooking oatmeal for breakfast or sauces for a family of four.
xa0
Ladle, 16cm, 1.6l22cm Skillet looks small, but it can fit six patties easily.
22cm frying panFor scrambled eggs and omelets, this size is perfect.26cm frying pan - the most popular option for a family of four. It replaced my broken frying pan, which is why I made the order in the first place.
My mom's Tefal (on the right) is two years old, but the non-stick coating wears off quickly with frequent use and can't be used anymore. It's been in a bad state for a long time, but it's still working, so food doesn't stick to it.Since the pans and frying pans don't have handles, I use them for baking in the oven too. The baked dishes turn out great.
The lids are not included in the set. But I had lids for my large frying pan and saucepan.
The handle is one for all. It grips well and holds onto the pot. To remove it, you need a bit of force, by pressing the side buttons. The handle surface is non-slip and doesn't get hot.
The pans stand stably on the stove, the handle doesn't get in the way. Only an empty saucepan can be accidentally knocked over.
The non-stick coating allows you to cook dishes without oil, which I think is a big plus. Meat patties or pancakes turn out not greasy, they easily come off the pan.
You don't need to wash it much after that, and definitely not scrub it or apply force.
The downsides of Tefal cookware are the price and the short lifespan. Which can become a record short lifespan if you live with people who love to scrape off food residue with a metal spoon. Or family members who can't get along with a wooden or silicone spoon when cooking in this kind of cookware. If you have such forgetful family members, I wouldn't recommend Tefal, just throw your money away.
Any damage to the non-stick coating and the item becomes unusable.
I've been there before, so now I keep Tefal separate from the rest of the cookware and only use it myself. The kids are learning to cook for themselves on stainless steel and cast-iron pans.
For me, getting three pieces of cookware at this price point is a great deal. I'd definitely keep an eye on the Tefal website for sales.
xa0
P.s. I'll add to this review - it looks like the metal on these pans is pretty thin, so even meat cooks quickly and also burns easily. You need to be right there to keep an eye on it, which isn't always convenient. My other Tefal pans don't dry out water as fast, and they don't burn as quickly.
