Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7

I've had my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 for a while now, and I'm still blown away by its build quality - it's seriously solid. The foldable design is a total game-changer, and the battery life is surprisingly long. I've been using it for daily stuff, and it's ridiculously easy to use, making it perfect for everyday life. I've dropped it a few times, but the build quality has held up amazingly well.

My Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Review: A Flip Phone That's a Real Gem

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been a Samsung fan for years, and I've stuck with the brand for a long time. Even before the smartphone era, I used a Samsung flip phone back in the 2000s - it was basically indestructible, and I loved slamming it shut after finishing a call. Now, with flip phones making a comeback, I thought it was time to upgrade. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is a total game changer, and I'm so glad I made the switch. The design is gorgeous, the build quality is top-notch, and the battery life is surprisingly long-lasting. It's been a week since I got my hands on this phone, and I'm still impressed with how well it's held up. The coral blue color I chose is a great choice, and it looks even better in person.

I was with my previous phone, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, for almost six years before the battery started to drain in the last year. This is my third Samsung phone.
And here it is - isn't it gorgeous? I bought the brightest color option, the coral blue body. I got it from OZON for around 80,000 rubles. I have the 'Rostest' version with 256 GB.
I was a bit hesitant to get a flip phone, I thought the screen would break easily, like shattering in the middle, but I watched some crash tests on YouTube - it's not as easy to break as you'd think. You do need to handle the screen carefully, as it's not regular glass, but flexible. There's a protective glass on top that you can't remove. You can feel the fold in the middle, but it doesn't get in the way. You can't open it with one hand, but it opens and closes smoothly and nicely.
In its folded state, it's such a tiny thing. I really like it. The design of the phone is really unique and eye-catching. Plus, it's so bright and colorful.
One thing I love about this phone is how it fits in my tiny pocket, even when it's fully unfolded. The screen is huge, making it perfect for watching videos and reading books. And I'm a big fan of the matte finish on the back – it's not prone to fingerprints, which is a major win for me.
I've been impressed by how well this phone holds up to being bent and folded – it's still easy to watch videos in that position, which is a huge plus when you don't have a stand handy.
I'm also really loving the design of the rear module – it's sleek and doesn't give me that trippy feeling some phones do. As someone who's not a fan of huge black modules like those on some Chinese phones, I'm glad this one doesn't have that issue.
As for the cameras, I'm no expert – I'm more of a point-and-shoot kind of guy. But I do feel like the colors on photos look a bit muted and dark, even compared to my old phone. Maybe I just need to fiddle with the white balance or try some different filters. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but the colors do look more natural, even if it's not exactly what I'm used to.
The 50MP high-resolution camera, combined with the ProVisual algorithm, delivers crisp, rich images with realistic details like accurate skin tones and textures.
I have to say, it really highlights all the redness and blue veins – honestly, I'm not really sure what to do with realistic skin tones, I look pretty fresh in the mirror. I wasn't planning to use filters, I don't need a distorted view of my appearance, but I guess I'll have to. Or all my photos will be 'pannocchia' style.
After messing around with the settings, it's a lot better.
The zoom is massive and produces good-quality photos. You can see that the Z Flip 7 gives off cold tones in the photos.
Zoom on the Samsung Galaxy Z flip7 A photo taken with the zoom on my old Samsung Galaxy S9 plusOne thing I love about this phone is that you can take photos even with the screen closed - and the quality is amazing. The colors are super vibrant and the image is crystal clear.
I'm still getting used to the AI assistant, but I'm really loving the customization options. You can change the icons, wallpapers, and even add widgets. Plus, you can set any video as your lock screen - it's a total game-changer.
On the downside, the packaging is pretty terrible. It feels like they just threw some old toilet paper together and called it a day. My previous flagships had way nicer boxes.
For comparison, here's the packaging from my previous phone. It's like a whole different world - the box is way bigger, not flimsy, and it even closes with a magnet.
I was a bit disappointed with the packaging, to be honest - just a tiny ejector tool, a charging cable, and that's it. Charging time is pretty fast, around an hour to go from 0 to 100%. The battery life is decent too - I spent three days watching YouTube, browsing social media, taking photos, and streaming, and I'm still not running out of juice, even with the screen at max brightness. So, to wrap things up - this smartphone is a real treat, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. The downsides are minor or easily fixable, in my opinion. I hope it'll last me a long time. Thanks for reading!)
