My RX 570 Experience: Good for Casual Gaming, But What's Next?

summarizeEditor's Summary

I built my PC with a focus on value for money, but I didn't do my research. I winged it, relying on surface-level info, and ended up with a graphics card that I knew I'd want to upgrade later. Now that I've got the basics covered, I can focus on learning more about the hardware I've got. The MSI AMD Radeon RX 570 ARMOR OC has been a good starting point for casual gaming, but it's got its limitations. I'll break down what I like and dislike about this budget graphics card.

A Budget Graphics Card for Under 20 Thousand Rubles
I'll be the first to admit it: when I built my PC, I didn't do my research. I winged it, relying on surface-level info. I'm happy with how it turned out, but I did take some shortcuts – like getting a monitor and graphics card that I knew I'd want to upgrade later. Now that I've got the basics covered, I can focus on learning more about the hardware I've got.
One area where I cut costs was the graphics card. Specifically, the MSI AMD Radeon RX 570 ARMOR OC. I figured it would be a good starting point, and I was right – it's delivered for casual gaming.
What I Got
I only got the box, since the card was already installed at the store – no pics of it from me. You can find plenty of pics online, though. It's a plain old card without any fancy lighting.
It's got two axial fans for cooling, which does the job just fine. I mean, I'm not playing demanding games, so I don't need a super-powerful cooling system.
It's got one chip with a 14nm process and a frequency range of 1.168-1.268 GHz. That's not bad for a budget card.
4GB of video memory – that's a bit low, but it's still enough for me.
The maximum processor temperature is 105 degrees. That's not a problem for me, but I can see why it might be a concern for others.
It recommends a 450W power supply. Make sure you've got that before you buy.
Supports four monitors at once. That's a nice feature, but I'm not using it.
Graphics Card Reviews
Graphics Card ReviewsMy Experience
I've been using the MSI AMD Radeon RX 570 for a while now, and it's been good for casual gaming. I'm not saying it's the best card out there, but it gets the job done.
I took some pics of the temperature sensors (using AIDA):
Graphics Card ReviewsThe GPU temperature was around 53 degrees after playing The Witcher 3 and Assassin's Creed Origins. It's even lower when I'm just browsing. It only got up to around 65 degrees when I was playing Cyberpunk 2077 – and that was rare.
I've gotta say, the Ryzen 5 3600 config really brings out the best in this Cyberpunk game, delivering stable mid-to-high frame rates. It doesn't crash, and I can play comfortably. That being said, I just didn't enjoy the game at all, and I stopped after a couple of missions.
I'm a big fan of The Witcher 3, Assassin's Creed Origins, and Skyrim, and this rig can handle those games with ease, delivering a smooth 60 FPS.
Graphics Card ReviewsGraphics Card ReviewsI'm a bit weirded out that Fraps isn't showing the FPS on its screenshots, so I took a photo of the actual value. Sorry about the pixelation - it's the camera quality and lighting in the room, not the image on the monitor:
Graphics Card ReviewsGraphics Card ReviewsTheoretically, this graphics card supports 8K UHD resolution, but I'm stuck at Full HD for now.
I don't find this graphics card to be loud at all. It's pretty quiet, only kicks in when it needs to, and I can play without headphones just fine. No annoying whining or hissing sounds.
It's not just games this graphics card can handle - it also does a great job with 3D modeling and video editing software. I'm still a student, so we'll see how it holds up in a year or two, but for now, it's a great value.
Value for Money
Right now, this graphics card is selling for 18,000 rubles in DNS. I'm not sure if I should wait for the price to drop to 14,000 or just splurge and get a better one. 18,000 is a bit steep for me, considering I could get a similar card for 10,000 just a few years ago.
My Verdict
I've got some gripes with the frequency range and the memory. Ideally, I'd want them to be a bit higher. 8 GB of memory would've been more than enough for me to be completely happy, to run demanding games like Cyberpunk on recommended settings, not minimum requirements. To not have to rely on the processor compensation and try out ray tracing. But, again, I'm good with what I've got, as long as there aren't any demanding games that I'd want to splurge on, and I don't play that often.
