My New Redmi 13 256 GB: A Phone That's Really Got It Together
I'd been using my trusty old Xiaomi Redmi 9 for four years, but it finally called it quits just before the new year. With all the drops and bumps it had taken, it was starting to glitch out - opening Word documents in WhatsApp was a real challenge, and they'd either open up all wonky or not at all.
My partner was the one who finally suggested I get a new phone, after I'd asked her to open a Word document for the third time. I joked that I wanted a red phone with loud speakers, and little did I know, I'd soon be enjoying the perfect fit - the Xiaomi Redmi 13 256 GB.
The price didn't bother me, I'm sure it's around 15,000 RUB. With my clumsy hands, I usually get away with paying 8-9,000 RUB for a phone. I don't need anything fancy - just the basics: making calls, opening documents, and taking random photos.
The phone itself is pretty standard, but it took some effort to figure out what goes where and what the three buttons do. It's lighter than my old phone, but bigger - not exactly the most comfortable fit in my hand. I can barely reach the screen with one finger to type.
The screen, on the other hand, is amazing - it's like looking at the sky and the ground at the same time when watching movies. The phone came with a charger and a case, but the case quickly turned yellow on me.

I have to say, the camera's convex shape is a bit unusual, but I was worried I'd break it easily. Thankfully, it's held up great. The battery life is incredible - it charges super fast, and I've even seen it go from 10% to a decent 35% in just 10 minutes. That's with fast charging, and it's still going strong after six months.

The phone's speaker is really loud - I can walk along a busy highway and still hear my conversation without any issues. Plus, it connects seamlessly to my stylus and scanner - I've even borrowed my daughter's headphones and it works flawlessly. No issues whatsoever.
This is a big deal for me, and I'm blown away by the camera's performance. Want to take a photo of tiny strawberry seeds in low light? No problem. I can even capture my mischievous cat in mid-air, and the photos are crystal clear:

My friend was impressed when I showed her the photos of the birds still sleeping at 6 am - it's that good. And when I want to take a snap of my cat, it's a breeze. I just tap the screen, and it's a perfect shot, every time, regardless of the lighting:

This is actually taking photos on the go from the car:

I did tweak the settings on my phone to get better quality shots, but the front camera isn't my favorite. It takes great-looking photos, but the pores on my nose are super noticeable, and my face looks kinda grainy, especially in low light:

But to be honest, I don't take selfies that often. And if I need a clear photo where my pores are visible, it's easier for me to take a shot on the main camera and then crop it out afterwards.
The Verdict:
I'm thoroughly enjoying this phone - it's incredibly loud, and I can hear everyone else just as clearly. The battery life is amazing, it charges really quickly, the camera is great, all my apps and documents open smoothly, and nothing freezes.
So yeah, I'd definitely recommend it. It's great value for the price.
Thanks for reading my review! I hope it's been helpful for you.
I've been using this phone for six months now, and it's still going strong. The battery life is still amazing, and the camera is still great. I've even taken some amazing photos with it, and I'm sure you will too.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this phone, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great value for the price. It's really exceeded my expectations, and I'm so glad I made the switch.
