Hello there!
Tire inflation is a must when you've got pneumatic tires. Whether you're changing a tire, adjusting the load, or dealing with a flat tire or harsh road conditions, keeping the right pressure is crucial for safety.
Old-fashioned tire pumps and even some new compressors come with those annoying old-style tire valves.
It's a type of valve that attaches to the tire's valve stem, and when you press the lever down, the rubber inside the valve expands to grip the valve stem and seal the air hose.
But here's the thing: it's a real pain to use. You've got to screw it on, press the lever down, and hope it seals properly. And when you're done, you've got to unscrew it, deflate the tire, and store it somewhere.
So, I decided to get a quick-release tire valve. I found one on Ozon that fit my needs: a non-threaded valve, a 'Y' shape, and a 6mm diameter. Here's what the product description said:
This valve is designed for hand pumps and car compressors, and it's compatible with bike and car tires. It has a 'Y' shape with a 6mm diameter, and it's made of high-quality materials (brass). The quick-release design makes it easy to attach and detach from the valve stem, saving you time and effort. The ergonomic design makes it comfortable to use, and the special O-rings prevent air leaks.
It's a universal valve that fits most pumps and compressors, making it perfect for different types of vehicles.
Let's take a look.
I removed the old valve, compared it to the new one, and attached it to the hose.
I attached it to the valve stem, and it's a perfect fit.
After some use, it's still working great - nothing's come loose, and it's still sealing properly.
Let's take a closer look at the working part of the valve.
You can see the movable half-circle piece that grips the valve stem, and the white silicone O-ring. And the rod that presses down on the valve stem's stem. When you press the lever on the valve, the half-circle piece retracts, releasing the valve stem.
It's like a clip. Press the lever, attach it to the valve stem, release, and you're good to go.
And when you're done, it's just as easy to remove. Press the lever, and it pops off under the air pressure. Quick and easy. And let's not forget, sometimes you don't need to inflate the tire, you just need to check the pressure. Even faster!
And one more thing: when the car is stationary, the tire can be in any orientation. The valve stem can be up, down, or sideways. But with this quick-release valve, it's a breeze to attach and detach, even in tight spaces.
I'm really happy with it.I highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't have one yet. And to be honest, I don't have any complaints - it's perfect.
