Editor's Summary

I'm still surprised I haven't written a review for Nestle's oatmeal yet, considering my kids have already devoured a whole box of it. The quality is top-notch, and I love that it's affordable. My only gripe is the presence of sugar in the ingredients. That being said, I've noticed my kids love the taste, and it's super easy to prepare. The packaging is convenient, and I appreciate the addition of probiotics, vitamins, and minerals. I've been buying this oatmeal for months now, and it's become a staple in our household. It's a solid choice for kids who need a healthy breakfast option, and I appreciate that it's not too expensive. I've tried other oatmeals before, but this one stands out for its ease of use and taste.

Hello! I'm still surprised I haven't written a review for Nestle's oatmeal yet, considering my kids have already devoured a whole box of it.

Nestle's Oatmeal:

Nestle's OatmealKachestvo produktov = kachestvo zhizni (Nestle)

General Info:

Brand: Nestle Category: Oatmeal Name: Oatmeal Age Restrictions: 5 months + Net Weight: 220 grams Production: Russia Country of Origin: Switzerland Price: around 150-200 rubles Where to Buy: Children's World, Magnit, Pyaterochka, Dixy, and other markets.

Packaging:

Nestle's oatmeal comes in two formats: a cardboard box and a sealed plastic bag with a zipper. When I bought it, it was only available in the boxes, so that's what I went with. The cardboard packaging turned out to be convenient for storage. I usually buy a pack of 10 at a time, and these boxes fit nicely in my kitchen cabinet. They're easy to stack on top of each other.

Nestle's OatmealThe packaging has all the necessary information about the oatmeal.

Nestle's OatmealThe oatmeal comes with a perforated opening line, making it easy to open.

Nestle's OatmealAfter opening the packaging, you can re-seal it with a special clip.

Inside the cardboard box is a sealed foil pouch containing the oatmeal. Even if the outer box gets wet, the pouch will keep the oatmeal fresh.

Nestle's OatmealOatmeal:

When you open the pouch, you'll see the dry oatmeal. The dry oatmeal is presented in the form of very small oat flakes.

Nestle's OatmealThe color of the dry oatmeal is a light beige or pale brown, depending on your preference.

Oat milk cereal from Nestle. The dry cereal has a not-so-intense oat smell with a milky undertone. I'd even say it has a slightly sweet, wheaty smell with a milky undertone.

Preparation:

I cook this cereal for my two little ones at the same time. My daughter is almost two years old, while my son is eight months old. So, I make the cereal thicker and more for my daughter, and a bit more liquidy for my son.

I usually prepare it like this:

I pour warm water into a small bowl. Then, I sprinkle the cereal into the water using an old spoon from my daughter's baby food. I add the cereal gradually while constantly stirring.

Oat milk cereal from Nestle. I add the dry cereal to the water until the consistency of the prepared cereal suits me.

Here's how my cereal looked today.

Oat milk cereal from Nestle. I add fresh frozen blueberries to my daughter's cereal,

Oat milk cereal from Nestle. and my son gets fruit or vegetable puree (berries are still too early for him).

Oat milk cereal from Nestle. By the way, fresh blueberries are the best fruit for kids, but unfortunately, they're not easily available in all regions. We have them growing just a kilometer from our home, and they're really cheap at the market. That's why I stock up on blueberries during the summer. Plus, they're hypoallergenic (according to our pediatrician).

Ingredients:

Oat flour (70.3%) (contains gluten), dry skimmed milk (18.1%), blend of vegetable oils (rapeseed, sunflower high in oleic acid, sunflower oil), antioxidants (L-ascorbyl palmitate, alpha-tocopherol, citric acid), maltodextrin, sugar, mineral substances (calcium carbonate, iron (II) fumarate, zinc sulfate, potassium iodide), vitamins (C (L-ascorbic acid), E (DL-alpha-tocopherol acetate), PP, B5 (D-calcium pantothenate), A (retinol acetate), B1, B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride), B2 (riboflavin), B9 (folic acid), D (D3)), bifidobacteria not less than 1x10^6 CFU/g Old composition: oat flour (62%) (contains gluten), dry skimmed milk (22%), rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, maltodextrin, sugar, mineral substances (calcium carbonate, iron (II) fumarate, zinc sulfate, potassium iodide), vitamins (C (L-ascorbic acid), E (DL-alpha-tocopherol acetate, DL-alpha-tocopherol), PP, B5 (D-calcium pantothenate), A (retinol acetate), B1, B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride), B2 (riboflavin), B9 (folic acid), D (D3)), bifidobacteria not less than 1x10^6 CFU/g

I've got to deduct a star from this cereal because of the ingredients, unfortunately. Sugar and maltodextrin aren't exactly what I'd want to see in a first cereal for my little ones. If I had to recommend a first cereal, I'd go with Heinz's milk-based cereals in the green boxes - they're awesome! My daughter's almost two, and she's the one who's mainly eating this cereal. I give it to my son occasionally as a sweet treat to mix things up.

On the other hand, the rest of the ingredients are pretty great: oats, vitamins, beneficial microelements, and bifidobacteria.

Shelf life:

This cereal has a great shelf life. The sealed package can be stored for 14 months from the manufacturing date. Once opened, it's best to use it within 20 days.

Nestle's Oat Milk Cereal. My thoughts:

I really like how easily this cereal mixes without any lumps. I've had issues with other cereals in the past, where I've had to stir them up a lot to avoid lumps. That's a real pain, especially when you're in a hurry. Thankfully, this oat milk cereal from Nestle doesn't give me any trouble.

Nestle's Oat Milk Cereal.I also want to mention how much I enjoy the milk flavor in this cereal. It's a bit too sweet for my taste, but the kids love it. Even if I were to reduce the sugar content, the cereal would still be pretty tasty. Beneath the sweetness, I can pick up on the nice flavors of oats and milk.

This cereal hasn't caused any allergic reactions in my son or daughter, which is definitely a plus.

Considering everything I've mentioned, I'd be happy to recommend this cereal as a good option for babies from 8 months and up. However, I wouldn't recommend it as a first cereal due to the sugar content in the ingredients.

Nestle's Oat Milk Cereal. Thanks for reading!
