My 8-year-old son is absolutely obsessed with LEGO, and we've got a huge collection of different parts. But when his birthday rolled around, he asked for Minecraft, and it's been a game-changer for us. I mean, it's way better than having him stuck on his phone all day.
We ended up with this massive My World 'Village in the Forest' Minecraft LB600, 778 pieces, from some friends instead of the original Minecraft set. I'm glad we did, because it's been a hit with my kid.
I'm not sure where they got it or how much it cost, but apparently, it's around 50-70 rubles, depending on the store.
Number of pieces - 778 pieces
Age range - 6-14 years
Includes a glowing block
Manufacturer - China
Packaging is a huge cardboard box, which is great for carrying and storing the set.
Its size is 37*55*7 cm, making it easy to fit on a shelf or in a closet.
There's a handle on top for carrying - the kid was thrilled to carry his gift himself.
The front features a picture of all the houses that should be built along the perimeter, as well as the characters.
There's also information on the number of pieces, the article number, and the recommended age range.
The set includes a special hook to easily separate the pieces from each other.
The back features the same village illustration, but with the individual houses broken down into squares.
One of the things that caught my eye was the sheer number of figures included in the box - I counted seven in total.

The packaging was surprisingly well-organized, with a cardboard insert to keep the tiny parts from getting jostled around.
The parts are neatly packaged in separate bags, which is a nice touch.
The instruction manual is a colorful, album-style booklet that's easy to follow - my kid had no trouble understanding what to do.
It's also worth noting that the set includes stickers to decorate and customize the parts - a nice touch for kids who love to get creative.
The parts are easy to snap together, and they don't come apart on their own - a big plus in my book.
Plus, they're compatible with other Chinese construction sets, which is a nice bonus.
I was blown away by how well the details were cast, with no defects, no peeling, and no sharp edges.
And the best part? No lingering smell.
Following the step-by-step instructions, I managed to assemble one of the houses.
Then I connected it to another building.
Next, I assembled the third one.
And in the end, I was able to connect everything into one big village.
I love how small each of these little houses is - it's only 6 by 9 centimeters.
One of the things I like about this toy is that you can use your imagination to build it in all sorts of different ways.
The glowing block is a great touch - it really adds to the fun and keeps my kid engaged.
This is a fantastic toy for kids of all ages, and it's been a hit with mine.
