Editor's Summary
I've gotta say, this little gadget has been a total lifesaver for me this winter. I was stuck outside in the freezing cold, trying to get into my car, until I stumbled upon the Lavr Silicone Lock De-icer. It's compact, odor-free, and works like a charm. I've been using it for a week now, and I'm so glad I finally broke it out of storage. The build quality is solid, and it's been a huge help for me. I've already recommended it to my friends and family, and I think it's worth every penny. If you live in a cold climate, you need this in your life. It's not just for car locks, either - I've used it on frozen pipes and even my car windows. The instructions are easy to follow, and it's a breeze to clean and store when not in use. I've been using it in temperatures as low as -20°C, and it still works like a charm. The only downsides are that it can leave a slight residue on the lock after use, and the packaging could be more durable. But overall, it's been a total game changer for me, and I highly recommend it to anyone who lives in a cold climate.

Hello there, fellow car owners!
I still can't believe winter has finally hit Moscow. Just last week, it felt like autumn - at least until November 20th. The average temperature was around 2 degrees Celsius, chilly but not freezing.
But then, on December 23rd, everything changed. A harsh frost hit the city, and with it, a lot of things froze solid - including the doors, windows, and locks of cars that were left outside, like mine.
This review is all about the Lavr Silicone Lock De-icer that saved the day.

A lock de-icer that caught my attention
I've written about my love for discovering hidden gems in big hypermarkets, and this little thing has been sitting on my shelf for over a year now.
I thought it would come in handy, but never got around to using it - until this winter, that is. I had it stored in a box, not in the car's glove compartment, where it could have been more useful.
But this year's December has been a different story. The temperatures have been all over the place, and my car's door lock froze solid. I couldn't even open it, and that's when I remembered this lock de-icer.

About Lavr
I'm always excited to see Russian brands making it big on the national market, and Lavr is definitely one of them - they're creating products that are both successful and useful for the people.
So, here's to Lavr, and their innovative lock de-icer that saved my car's door from freezing solid!
LAVR is a Russian family brand that's been producing auto chemistry and auto cosmetics since 1997, based in Chelyabinsk.
They offer a range of products for preventing and repairing key car systems, interior and exterior care, and their catalog boasts over 300 items, 50 of which have patented formulas.
LAVR's products are available across Russia and in 17 countries worldwide.
Mark's birthday is just around the corner, and I recently got to know her (laughs). Anyway, the guys have a pretty handy website with a car-focused design – it's simple and easy to navigate. Their products are neatly categorized, and I found this de-icer in the 'winter products' section.

Lavr ice remover description
You can find the description on the brand's website as well:
A professional ice remover with silicone lubricant quickly restores lock functionality and protects it from re-freezing. The ice remover is easy to use thanks to its nozzle-dropper, which injects the composition deep into the mechanism. The small bottle is convenient to carry and store.
I've mentioned it before, but it's true:
the bottle is super compact, and as of today, I'll always carry it with me, as a must-have winter driver's accessory the bottle has a convenient nozzle it's stable across various temperatures, from minus to plusIf we talk about the more 'chemical' characteristics of the product, I'd note the composition: Isopropyl alcohol >30%, functional silicone <5%.
I'm no chemist, but my dad's been telling me for ages that if you get your door/handle stuck in the cold, you should have some pure alcohol with you. Of course, I don't carry any pure alcohol, but I do have a mini bottle of isopropyl alcohol + silicone, which is now at the ready
One of the key things the manufacturer promises about this ice remover is that it'll dissolve ice in door locks quickly, push out moisture to prevent re-freezing, lubricate and protect the lock mechanism from wear and tear, and not contain any methanol.
It's supposed to melt ice in door locks fast. It's supposed to push out moisture and prevent re-freezing.It's supposed to lubricate and protect the lock mechanism from wear and tear.It doesn't contain any methanol.Product codeFor me, the most important conditions for using this product are the temperature fluctuations in 20 degrees Celsius:It needs to dissolve ice where I need it to.It needs to be safe for my bird (the color shouldn't fade or suffer). It needs to prevent re-freezing.I don't know how it works on a chemical and molecular level, but as soon as I realized the car wouldn't open – I quickly found the Lavr ice remover in the drawer and ran to the rescue.

My experience with the product
So, upon returning to the scene, I took a photo of the 'before' picture. My task was to open the driver's side door and start the engine.
Before. Frozen driver's side doorBefore: frozen moving part of the door handleI don't write anything specific about the lock because I don't open the car with a key, and I don't need to mess around in the lock's crevice.Although the instructions initially say:
Insert the dropper's nozzle into the lock's crevice.Press the bottle to release the solution.Wait for one minute and open the lock with a key. But what I really needed was to quickly thaw the frozen door handle so I could open the car. Then, I took my miracle product, and carefully dripped it into the frozen crevices of the moving part of the door handle:
The magic happensI've got to say, it's a game-changer. The ice just melted away in seconds. The manufacturer wasn't kidding – it's super easy to apply the stuff exactly where I need it.
AfterFrozen cracksAnd (dramatic pause) – I managed to open that stubborn door on the first try!
I was thrilled to see that the car's coating remained intact – that was a major concern for me from the start.
Three thumbs up!
The verdict
Hey there, fellow car owners – in these freezing days, I highly recommend this affordable and super useful de-icer, Lavr Silicone, to all of you.
AffordableEffectiveEasy to carry aroundSafeI'm grateful to the manufacturer for making my day a bit brighter – I was able to get into my car and make the most of it thanks to this awesome de-icer.
I'm heading out the door and I'm down 15 pounds
