My Go-To Humidifier for Dry Winter Nights: A Review of the Electrolux EHU-5115D

I got the Electrolux EHU-5115D humidifier in our home after my kid was born, and I wanted to create a comfortable environment for him. But it ended up being super handy for us adults too when we came down with a nasty dry cough from the flu.

The humidifier arrived in a sturdy cardboard box with a picture of the unit and a brief overview of its key features.

Let's start with the most important feature of this humidifier - it's a ultrasonic type.

An ultrasonic humidifier converts water into a cold, fine mist using high-frequency vibrations from an ultrasonic membrane, effectively increasing humidity with low energy consumption and silent operation, but it requires the use of distilled or purified water to avoid spraying mineral deposits and bacteria into the air.

Tip: Before buying a humidifier, research the different types, their pros, and cons.

I've got to say, the 5-liter water tank is a nice touch. The top fill feature is convenient, even though I don't usually use it. I mean, dust accumulates in there over time, and it's just easier to pour water from the side. But, it's a nice option to have.

There's just one button that turns it on and off, and switches between the different modes.

I make sure to clean the humidifier every week to keep it running smoothly. It's really not that hard, and it's worth it to ensure it continues to work effectively.

I highly recommend reading the user manual and following the recommended cleaning schedule. Using the right water is also crucial - I prefer to use distilled water, but tap water will do in a pinch.

If you don't clean the humidifier regularly and use the wrong water, it can be a real pain to remove the mineral deposits that form.

My Experience with the Humidifier:

We live in a small apartment with central heating, which can make the air feel really dry in the winter. I've found that this humidifier does a great job of adding moisture to the air, especially in smaller spaces like our bedroom or living room.

One thing to note is that the humidifier doesn't come with built-in humidity sensors, so I've had to rely on a separate hygrometer to monitor the humidity levels.

The Electrolux EHU 5110D/5115D humidifier is a solid, working device. It really helped with that annoying cough I got from the flu. The thing is, it's got some good points and some not-so-good points too.

It's pretty affordable (I paid around 3000 rubles for it back in 2022, and now it's around 5000 rubles in 2026).It's safe to use with cold water.The noise level is super low at 35 decibels – I was surprised how easily I could fall asleep with it running, even on high settings!It's also energy-efficient.Now, about the not-so-good points. This is an important one!

Since this humidifier uses ultrasonic technology (it works by breaking water down into tiny particles using high-frequency vibrations from the membrane, creating a cold mist that disperses throughout the room), you need to be prepared to buy distilled water or a water filter with reverse osmosis. Using tap water is simply not an option, or else the device will get clogged, your furniture will be covered in a white residue, and you'll be breathing in air full of contaminants from the unfiltered water.I'd still recommend the ultrasonic humidifier Electrolux EHU 5110D/5115D, as long as you follow the usage guidelines!
