Specifications
Waffle enthusiasts, listen up! I've been itching to get my hands on a waffle maker for ages, and finally, I took the plunge and bought this budget-friendly one with great reviews on Ozon. I opted for the model that comes with attachments for Belgian and Austrian waffles, and I'm glad I did. I also ordered an additional attachment for Dutch waffles, which are these thin, round treats that are usually drizzled with caramel or chocolate sauce. I have to say, I'm glad I got the second attachment - it gave this waffle maker a second chance.
I started with the Dutch waffles, and everything was great at first. The only issue was that the center of the waffle maker heated up way faster than the edges, resulting in uneven cooking. To fix this, I let the batter sit at room temperature for a bit before cooking, and I also gave the waffle maker a few minutes to heat up again before adding the next batch. That did the trick!
But the Austrian waffle attachment had its own problems. It started losing its non-stick coating from the very first use, and no amount of oil could fix it. At first, it was just small patches, but by the third time I used it, half the surface was bare, and the waffles would break apart when I opened the lid.
If the Dutch waffle attachment had been as bad, I would've returned this waffle maker in a heartbeat. But I thought maybe it was just a fluke, so I ordered a replacement attachment for Austrian waffles in the 'mini' version (which makes five thin, long waffles instead of two square ones). And guess what? It works perfectly, with no coating issues whatsoever.
As for the uneven cooking, I've found a couple of workarounds. First, I make sure my batter is nice and warm, so it cooks evenly. Second, I give the waffle maker a few minutes to heat up again before adding the next batch. That way, the edges have a chance to catch up with the center.
All things considered, for around 2000 rubles, this waffle maker is a decent buy. Of course, I'm sure a more expensive one would have fewer issues, but for now, I'm happy to have this one in my kitchen.
