A Budget-Friendly Cement Mixer for Small Projects
Hello everyone, I'm excited to share my experience with the Storm concrete mixer, which I recently purchased for small projects around my home.
This mixer was perfect for pouring floors during the construction of our private home, and I wanted to get one that would serve me well for future projects.
Renting a concrete mixer of this capacity can cost anywhere from 900-1000 rubles per day, plus you have to pay for transportation and a deposit. If you're using the mixer for several months, like we did, it's not worth it – it's cheaper to buy your own. You also don't have to worry about damaging or losing someone else's property.
We could've opted for pre-mixed concrete, but that would've cost us more. To begin with, our street is quite narrow, and secondly, it's difficult to access the construction site with a truck. Even extending a hose wouldn't be feasible.
Mixing cement and sand manually is a long and labor-intensive process, and the quality of the mixture won't be the same as what you get from a concrete mixer.
After considering all the options, we settled on this model. We ordered it from Dns, and the price was around 15,800 rubles. They delivered it quickly, within a couple of days.
The mixer came in a standard-sized cardboard box, which was easy to fit into the trunk of our car. The box was compact, and all the parts were neatly arranged inside. There's an instruction manual for assembling the mixer.

Baltic Whirlwind BM-0.800/18000P Cement MixerTo be honest, I didn't encounter any major issues with the assembly process – everything came together quickly and without any problems, and the packaging was complete. Although, when I picked it up from the store, I didn't really check the contents of the box. The staff assured me that if anything was missing, they'd sort it out.
In terms of build quality, I'd say it's a bit flimsy. This cement mixer isn't suitable for large construction projects, but for occasional use like mine – it's a decent option.
Weight of the mixer: 39.5 kg, sturdy.
Baltic Whirlwind BM-0.800/18000P Cement MixerBaltic Whirlwind BM-0.800/18000P Cement MixerIn general, the mixer does its job, works fairly steadily, quietly, and with a slight vibration – but that's not a major issue and doesn't affect the final result. Just make sure to keep an eye on the mixer and thoroughly clean its body after each use, without letting the concrete dry on it – or it'll be a real pain to remove, and the metal body is quite thin, so it's easy to deform it during these operations.
Blender capacity: 180 liters.
Generally speaking, cement mixers available on the market usually come in volumes ranging from 100 to 300 liters. A decent option for household needs would be around 130-140 liters. Considering this, our mixer is actually larger than average. As with other models, the fill rate is approximately 2/3 of the total volume – to avoid overloading the engine and ensure good mixing.
The manufacturer claims a useful volume of 130 liters – that's a lot.
Power: 800 W.
When it comes to power, this mixer is pretty mid-range. I'd say mixers with 1000W are considered powerful, but for everyday household use, 800W is more than enough. If you need to run a machine continuously for an extended period, you'd want something more powerful. Since our goals weren't that demanding, the power of this mixer suits us just fine.
The manufacturer's description:
The Vihry BM-0,800/18000P mixer is a building tool used for preparing various types of construction mixes and concrete. It's suitable for building a private home. The model has a polyamide rim. The good specs for building a house are: 180-liter drum volume, 800W power, and 130-liter drum capacity when loaded. It's a bit heavy, which is typical for professional equipment.
The manufacturer's warranty is 12 months.
The bottom line:
Pros:it's a solid workhorsethe drum is larger than averageit's stableit's budget-friendlyit runs quietlyCons:the metal casing is a bit flimsythe assembly instructions could be clearer✔️ I'd definitely recommend buying this. The value for money is 5 out of 5 stars.
Thanks for your attention.
