I remember when I dared to enter MKB during a difficult time.
I followed the link from my friend's house to request the free Moskarta and then went to the center (after 2 weeks) to pick up the personalized card and get the welcome bonus ("Invite a Friend" offer).
They promised a good discount, even on light and water, 1%.
But I was left with my eyes open in surprise.
The card seemed a bit ridiculous to me.
I fixed it so it wouldn't block my view.
And then... I charged it myself.
This was a long time ago, around spring 2021.
As soon as I got out of the confinement, I launched myself to explore and discover new things.
But I found MKB in its worst moments.
An old bank, in truth.
The first bank of this kind in my experience.
And I have a great experience in the field.
I'm not a stranger to banks.
I've visited many to inform myself about the rates of cards, deposits, and savings accounts.
Fortunately, the need for a mortgage no longer worries me.
I have the mortgage closed (a long time ago, in Sberbank it was the best option).
But I have experience with deposit guarantee payments (after several banks had their licenses withdrawn).
And I've had to deal with credit cancellations and problems with credit cards.
As for credit cards, I'm an expert.
I always pay on time and am aware of the bank's rules.
As for discount cards, I'm a bit addicted.
I love finding the best offers and discovering new benefits.
And with my credit history, I'm always ready to take advantage of the best conditions.
So when I discovered MKB, I started investigating and learning about its services and conditions.
And now, I'm here, sharing my experience with you.
The truth is that my family and friends have chosen different banks.
Some have even invited me to join.
I don't recommend MKB.
That's why I'm skipping MKB.
I'm in a hurry, I don't stop, there's nothing worth it.
Ignore it, dear readers.
If even the welcome bonus of the "Invite a Friend" promotion didn't motivate me to formalize the product, what can I expect?
And please, don't talk to me about MKB's credit offer.
Remember my warning.
I got there through the "Friend Bonus" promotion.
The bonus was expected for a month.
In MKB, the payment date of all advantages is the 20th of the month.
I registered in April, but the bonus didn't arrive.
I started communicating with the support.
They told me to wait until May 20th.
What happened next?
May 20th also didn't arrive.
And in MKB, it's always like that.
But at that time, I was a novice, I didn't know anything about MKB.
I compared it with similar promotions from other banks (which now all have):
T-Bank - clear, no problems.
Ozón - clear, no problems.
Alfa - it even shows the list of your guests, you can follow the history in real-time.
In Raiffeisen, the misfortune is that since 2022 they canceled the "Invite a Friend" promotion.
In VTB, SKB-Sinara, UBRiR, and other banks, all my current cards have a bonus for new customers.
And, as this practice is no longer innovative, banks have perfected the system and there's no need to request the welcome bonus.
It's sent automatically.
And in MKB, I'm a debit card customer, not a credit card customer, and I'm constantly requesting.
It's not a charity, donation, beneficence, or help request, but what I'm entitled to and haven't been paid.
I collect evidence, screenshots, and confirm my knowledge of the promotion rules, tariff, and cashback.
In summary,
The "Invite a Friend" promotion in MKB didn't work regularly,
and in the end, the bonus didn't arrive to me.
Not long after, the tariff of MKB became a disaster, especially for new customers.
The cashback for light and water was canceled quickly,
the "10% in supermarkets" action with a maximum of 1000 rubles was also applied selectively - again, the struggle, letters, waiting, nothing.

Well, the card is free, we won't close it immediately.
Naturally, MCB invited us to a meeting at the branch to close the accounts.
Is that strange? Other banks were already doing it online at that time.
xa0
Banks often do this:
destroy the tariff,
get feedback
(there are no fools, customers quickly switch to other banks, while damaged cards remain inactive, without activity),the bank starts to backtrack, returns the benefits, adds attractive options and possibilities to recover customer activity.
xa0
Many of us have gone through this. Now I won't point fingers.
We decided not to rush to leave MCB, which is "going downhill" to better times.
xa0
To change the cashback to money through the MósCarte of MCB, previously there were the following rules:
you copied the bonuses up to 1500, then you could exchange them for rubles, compensating the purchase.
But not any purchase, but...
as expected from MCB
"torture the rules so that no one understands, but don't return the money to the client
When closing the account, the cashback will be lost, of course, if it's not converted to money.
I'd like to convert it,
but the MCB panel sends me letters rejecting the operation for three months in a row:
"NO OPERATIONS ARE ATTACHED TO THE CONVERSION".
And when trying to access... what a surprise! the cashback has been lost!
MKB keeps it alive only for a year.
I don't have time to change it, and there you are with your problems!
xa0
What a fun situation!
xa0
To be fair, I'll say that
Already in 2025, I realize that MKB's cashback conversion policy has gone down, which means it's now easier to convert it to rubles, but that doesn't change my verdict on them and the 💩 they've made me feel.
xa0
It's not necessary to say that the cashback for public services such as water and electricity no longer exists.
xa0
And about the only unique advantage of MKB's cashback compared to other banks, I want to highlight:
MKB is the only bank that doesn't pay cashback for checks under 300 rubles - this is what I've discovered.
MKB is for the rich, in general 🤘
But for us, the poor, we make many purchases for less than 300 rubles, of which some banks pay cashback without rounding, even with cents.
MK doesn't meet this standard.
xa0
The cashback categories in MKB only change once a quarter,
not every month.
And if there aren't many options, then you have to wait for 3 months until they change again.
Cashback categories in MKB change once a quarterAlso it's characteristic of MKB to change the tariff/cashback rules without prior notice.
The client plays by the old rules they've learned to remember,
and in MCB, things have changed, and the excuse is:
all changes have been published on our website.
xa0
Of course, I'm a client of 15 banks, and I have to sit down every morning to check the websites of all of them to see if there are any changes!
And if not, there's nothing else to do.
Especially when you've gotten used to a good bank sending you push notifications and SMS, or an email, and then repeating it to you if there are changes in the tariffs.
xa0
But MCB doesn't meet this standard:
Wednesday, friends, don't bother us.
xa0
I have many more things to say about MCB, but I don't feel like it.
Simply, I promised the clients in the chats to let them know about my frustration with their personal actions - this was what led me to my final limit with them,
since for MCB it's become the norm not to pay for personal actions, or even reject payment requests, and the excuse is always something ridiculous.
xa0
Recently, they sent me a personalized action for inactive customers, those who have accounts with a balance, but don't use them.
In November, I received an invitation and met the requirements.
This is confirmed by the extensive conversation in the chat, where before participating in the action, I explained the conditions and details with several operators, and before each payment, I returned to the chat to confirm my participation.
xa0
Why did I behave so obsessively?
The bitter experience taught me.
I've been with Metrobank for a long time.
And it's not the first time that, attracted by their attractive promotions, I've received an unpleasant treatment.
xa0
And I got tired of this practice.
xa0
This time I promised to write about the bank in a wider audience, not just in the closed chats within the Metrobank app from my online account.
And I discovered a good news:
now with Metrobank you can cancel your account remotely!
Of course, it's a more complicated process than with other banks, but at least without having to take a plane to Moscow.
xa0
Did you notice that Metrobank has been closing branches and regional offices for the past 3 years?
Everything is done in their central office in Moscow, and it seems they're taking advantage of their "inaccessibility" to invite us to travel to the city to do the procedures.
They ask the regional ones to travel to Moscow, while those from St. Petersburg are told to go to Moscow.
xa0
Next, I'll leave you the recent guide on how to close accounts and credit cards from Metrobank from home:
