How I Save Time and Money with Yandex Zapraschki

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been using Yandex Zapraschki for a while now, and it's been a total game changer for me when it comes to saving time and money at the pump. I download the app, link my bank card, and voila – I can pay for gas without ever leaving my vehicle! It's also super convenient that I can earn points on my fuel purchases when I'm subscribed to Yandex Plus. The app even lets me compare prices at different gas stations, which has helped me find the best deals. I've saved a pretty penny since I started using it, and I'm hooked.

The Secret to Saving Time at the Pump
I discovered Yandex Zapraschki back when COVID restrictions were in full swing. Remember those days when every TV commercial was urging people to fill up their tanks without leaving their cars? It was all about minimizing contact to avoid getting infected. I downloaded the app, linked my bank card, and voila – I could pay for gas without ever leaving my vehicle!
At first, I wasn't too sure about using the app. But it wasn't until a year later, when friends told me that the app occasionally offers discounts on fuel, that I decided to give it a go. I signed up for Yandex Plus, which is a single subscription that grants access to a bunch of Yandex services, including Zapraschki.
When you buy fuel worth at least 1,000 rubles, you earn points (0.5 points per liter), but only if you have a subscription. No subscription, no points. That's how I managed to find the date of my first fill-up – February 5, 2021 – more than two years ago.
Linking my cards from gas station networks was a breeze in the app.
Here's how I use the service.
I was a bit worried when I first used the app, to be honest. I was afraid something might go wrong. And my first fill-up using the service wasn't exactly lightning-fast. But now, I just fill up easily and quickly. I'll walk you through how I do it.
First, we need to download the app, log in, and link our card – and as an added bonus, they'll take a ruble off, only to put it right back.
Next, we fire up the app, and make sure our phone's location services are enabled.
Those green dots represent all the gas stations available in the app – we're talking Rosneft, Shell, Flash, and a few smaller chains, but no Lukoil or Gazprom in sight.
We choose our desired gas station. And, as an added perk, you can see which column has the fuel type you need right in the app.
We pull up to the right gas station, choose it in the app, and select the type of fuel we need.
Once I'm done filling up, the app asks me to leave a tip and rate the service. It's also nice to see the size of the discount and the points I've earned right there.
Filling up with this app is a breeze – anyone can do it.
If you've got multiple gas stations on your route, you can compare prices and choose the one that's best for you – as long as the quality of the fuel is the same, of course.
For example, yesterday it was cheaper for me to fill up with 95-octane fuel at the Shell station:
But at the nearby Shell station, a liter of 95-octane fuel cost almost two rubles more:
I've had my fair share of overpaying for fuel, and it usually happens when I'm not sure how much will fit in the tank. But the good news is that any excess payment is refunded to the same card used for the transaction. In my experience, this refund happens almost instantly, although the app says it should take up to three days.
But I've also had the opposite experience. I once forgot to top up my linked bank card, and when I filled up at the pump, the app notified me that the payment hadn't gone through. So, in effect, I was driving away with a bill to pay. Not exactly what I wanted to hear, so I quickly added some funds to my card, and the payment was processed soon after.
The app keeps a record of all my past fuel-ups, including any bonus points I've earned, and I can even print out a receipt if I need to.
For me, Yandex Fuel Stations is all about saving time – no more queuing up at the cash desk. It's especially handy on the highway, where many gas stations now have staff who'll take your payment, make you a coffee, and even serve up a hot dog. But I'm not fussed about that anymore. I pull up, pay for my fuel without leaving the car, and I'm off. It's super convenient! And let's not forget the cash I'm saving too. Who wouldn't want that?
One of the things I appreciate most about Yandex Fuel Stations is the ability to compare prices across different gas stations. It's a feature that's saved me a lot of money over the years, and it's something that I think more gas station apps should offer.
Another thing that I like about Yandex Fuel Stations is the convenience of being able to pay for fuel without leaving my car. It's a feature that's especially useful on long road trips, where I can fill up without having to get out of the car.
Of course, like any app, Yandex Fuel Stations isn't perfect. There have been times when the app has crashed or frozen on me, and I've had to restart it to get it working again. But these issues are relatively rare, and they don't detract from the overall experience of using the app.
Overall, I'm really happy with Yandex Fuel Stations. It's saved me a lot of time and money over the years, and it's a feature that I think more gas stations should offer. If you're looking for a convenient and affordable way to fill up your tank, I would definitely recommend giving Yandex Fuel Stations a try.
