I recently picked up a set of knives from Tramontina at my local Fix Price store, and I'm so glad I did. I've been familiar with their products for a decade now - I bought one of their knives 10 years ago, and it's still my go-to knife to this day. It's been a reliable companion in the kitchen, and I've never had any issues with it.
I ended up buying the whole set because I couldn't find just one knife in stock. It was a great value for money - I got it for 299 rubles. Plus, it's always handy to have a set of knives in the kitchen.
Each knife in this set is designed for a specific task. The smallest one is perfect for cutting veggies and tomatoes, with a blade length of 10 cm. The middle knife is great for cutting tomatoes, with a blade length of 11 cm. And the largest knife is perfect for cutting steaks and fruits, with a blade length of 12 cm - I measured it myself, and online it says different sizes, so I'm not sure what to believe.
I'm really impressed with these knives. They're all great quality and cut really well. The largest knife, in particular, has become my go-to for everyday tasks. It feels more comfortable to me than the other two, and I think it's just because I'm used to it - my old knife is the same size and has the same teeth as this one.
So, it's safe to say that the steel in these knives is top-notch. It's not dulled or deformed after all this time. The handle is still in great condition too. Fingers crossed that the quality hasn't changed over the years.
The handle on these knives is just right - not too wide, not too narrow, perfect for my hand.
Here's a pic of my old knife for comparison.
I've found it's super easy to chop up soft bread and cheese with these knives, but they're also great for cutting through tougher veggies and fruits. Plus, they're a lifesaver when it comes to dividing meat - the little teeth do a great job of cutting through fibers.
The tip of the knife is nice and sharp, making it easy to dig out any imperfections in fruits and veggies, like the 'eyes' of a potato.
Now, let's talk about the other two knives. The one with the tiny teeth is perfect for chopping up veggies into super fine pieces. If you want a really delicate cut, this is your guy. I've found it's especially great for chopping up cabbage for a salad, and it's also great for slicing up carrots for homemade chips.
Here's a pic of the different cuts you can get with the two knives.
I only use the smallest knife for cleaning up cooked veggies. That's it. Not because it's not as good as the others, but just because I'm used to it.
The knives are a breeze to clean - I just use any old cleaning solution and they're good as new. Sometimes I dry them off, sometimes I don't, and the steel never rusts.
I'm loving the fact that these knives don't need to be sharpened (at least, not the ones with the teeth). I know some of you ladies will appreciate that. For me, it's a huge plus - I used to spend ages trying to sharpen my knives, but they'd just get dull so quickly and I couldn't find a good whetstone to use.
The price of these knives was a major factor in my purchase. And let me tell you, it was a steal. I'd definitely recommend this knife set to anyone looking for a reliable and affordable option.
- The steel and handle are top-notch
- The length and width are spot on
- They're easy to clean with any soap
- The serrated blades don't need sharpening
- And the price
I hope you find some great deals out there!
