Why I Wish I'd Seen This Holster Sooner - It's a Total Game-Changer
Hello there, fellow DIY enthusiasts and professionals!
\xa0
I've been using various tool belts and holsters over the years, but I have to say that the Toughbuilt TB-CT-20-LX tool belt has exceeded my expectations in every way.
\xa0
Let me start by saying that I've had my fair share of accidents and mishaps while working at heights, and that's exactly why I needed a reliable and sturdy tool belt that could keep up with my demanding work schedule.
\xa0
After researching and comparing various options, I finally settled on the Toughbuilt TB-CT-20-LX tool belt, and I'm so glad I did.
\xa0
The Toughbuilt TB-CT-20-LX tool belt is a solid accessory for your tools, boasting a sturdy construction and reinforced rivets. The patented ClipTech ™ Hub ™ clip makes it a breeze to quickly attach and detach from any strap.
\xa0
It's got 15 pockets and loops for all your tool needs, including a large pocket for your classic drill/driver, a strap to keep your tool secure in the tool pocket, a small pocket with a flap for storing tiny bits, 2 loops for your screwdrivers, 2 loops for your nail puller, 7 compartments for bits and drill bits, a pocket for fasteners (hardware), and more.
\xa0
The key features of the Toughbuilt TB-CT-20-LX tool belt include a color scheme of black and yellow, made of durable polyester, with a width of 152 mm, a length of 229 mm, and a thickness of 203 mm. The attachment type is a clip, and the weight is a mere 0.53 kg.
\xa0
Inside the box, you'll find the tool belt, the ClipTech ™ Hub ™ clip, and a package.
\xa0
Breaking down the pocket layout, I've got a weird, angled pocket on the left side for storing small bits with a flap, which is perfect for hiding keys to the room or apartment or a spare small expense that you rarely need in a given work, but might come in handy someday.
\xa0
The main section holds a pretty standard cordless drill, and the reinforced outer pocket is a nice touch, with some serious stitching that can be used for holding fasteners, waste, attachments, and a tape measure, to name a few.
\xa0
One thing that's really convenient about the ClipTech system is that it works seamlessly with both Toughbuilt belts and other brands. And the process of attaching a clip to the belt is a total breeze.
\xa0
The clip itself is designed to slide into the holster or another clip that's compatible with the ClipTech system. The clip opens from the bottom with a simple mechanism - just pull the yellow tab.
\xa0
Toughbuilt actually has metal strips called a wall organizer that let you mount a horizontal strip to the wall and hang multiple clip attachments from it. They even have a model called the Toughbuilt TB-53 wall organizer that's 60cm long - you can attach the clips and hang your attachments from it.
\xa0
Each clip has two holes for this purpose, and on the front of the clips, there's a wide hole for the bit to pass through, while the back has two narrow holes for screws or nails up to 6mm in diameter.
\xa0
So, you can attach them to a waist belt, a mounting strap, a ladder, a wall, an organizer or steel plate, such as the Toughbuilt or DKS, Vergokan, and so on, installed or on a tool box or wall.
\xa0
✔️ You can attach them to a tactical waist belt with a metal buckle. ✔️ You can buy the Toughbuilt belt separately, which usually comes with a adjustable length strap Toughbuilt TB-CT-42.
\xa0
✔️ It's a military-style belt. ✔️ It's compatible with any other mounting strap.
\xa0
For example, it works seamlessly with the DeWalt DWST1-75661 strap from the DeWalt set.
\xa0
Just clip it around the belt and then attach the holster.
\xa0
It's super easy to detach the clip. Just slide the yellow lock and lift the pouch handle.
\xa0
Now, let's talk about using it in real life. I've only had the holster for a short while, but I've already noticed a few nice things.
\xa0
For instance, when I needed to use two drill drivers and a multitool with different attachments - DeWalt DCD 791 D2 with a 5Ah battery, METABO BS 18 Li 602116530, and Makita DF012DSE (multitool) - I used two holsters.
\xa0
First, we attach the clip to the belt. Then, we load up what we need. Either before it settles into place on the belt, you can load up the pouch with the necessary tool.
\xa0
You can load it with your preferred kit. There's a lockout feature for closing the tool in the drill section.
\xa0
I use this belt when climbing. As you're ascending, things can get unpredictable. You might not need to close it, but I always err on the side of caution. I mean, you never know what might happen. Like I mentioned at the start of this review, this belt's got your back. Just grab it and go.
\xa0
The bit and extension sections can accommodate various-length bits and screwdrivers. Medium-length screwdrivers are pretty handy for reaching high spots.
\xa0
You can also stash clips for attachment in the additional section and store a box or can of screws.
\xa0
⚠️ THE VERDICT
\xa0
I've been using this pouch for smaller projects so far. That being said, I wouldn't recommend using it on a belt if you need to squat, work in a crouched or angled position. Otherwise, the clip might break or crack. The same goes for the guide – it might snap.
\xa0
However, the construction has a decent stiffness without too much play, so in case you press it against a surface or perform any other action, the gap might absorb the impact and nothing would break. The latch has no play and can't move away from the tension. The pouch itself is quite rigid.
\xa0
In this regard, KraftTool and their clips and holder have a bit more play.
\xa0
Overall, the pouch works well. You can attach a drill driver from either the left or right side.
\xa0
It's convenient that there's a section for bits, drills, and another section for fasteners and hardware. It's also great to have two loops for screwdrivers/wrenches and an additional clip for carabiners.
\xa0
This pouch is suitable for medium-heavy, heavy, and small drill drivers. It's optimal if the front part of the drill driver has a shortened type of locking collar.
\xa0
The quick-release system is quite handy.
\xa0
I compared prices and found them to be decent, regardless of who's selling them.
\xa0
⚠️ PROS
This thing is a must-have for working at heights (on a dacha, private house, or construction sites); It lets you free up your hands, especially when working on a ladder or scaffolding, where you need to hold on and move around; You can stash the whole tool kit for a specific job in one holster without having to climb up and down; The holster is ambidextrous, so it works for both left- and right-handed folks; It's got a quick-install and quick-remove system; The kit itself is pretty durable;\xa0
⚠️ MINUSES
The price has skyrocketed over the past three years; You can't always find it for sale;\xa0
Mostly, you'll find it for sale between 2,000 and 5,000 rubles. It's the same product, regardless of what the packaging says – it's made in China, and they might import it from the US or Mexico.
