Don't Let the Size Fool You - This Power Bank Packs a Punch!
Hello everyone! I needed a power bank, and finally, it's here. It's an external battery, a compact charger, a universal portable battery - that's what this PowerBank is. I used to not leave home much, and I could charge my phone from the bedside outlet. But life has a way of changing things, and... Welcome to my life with the black and smart brick, the TFN Solid 30 PD.
The full name is the External Battery TFN Solid 30 PD 30000мАч. I opted for the non-marked dark version. The cost at the time of purchase was 2400 rubles.
The portable battery TFN Solid TFN-PB-283 is a reliable, universal PowerBank made of a plastic casing. Its feature is a capacity of 30000 мА·ч, making the device indispensable even on the longest trips. It allows you to recharge your smartphone, camera, media player, tablet, or even laptop when there's no outlet nearby.
On the TFN Solid TFN-PB-283 casing, there's one USB Type-C port and two USB ports, which can be connected to three devices at once. This saves time when multiple devices need to be charged simultaneously. Charging the device won't take a lot of time, as it supports Quick Charge and Power Delivery. The device's state can be monitored using the LED indicator and a special button on the casing.
The package includes the battery, a USB cable, and a paper manual. Initially, the PowerBank is in a plastic sleeve that keeps its appearance intact until you start using it.
I bought this in early June, and I'm writing this review in September, so I think it's fair to say that my opinion is formed, and any quirks that might have appeared during usage have shown up. Initially, I was planning to buy a portable charger from another brand, one that's lighter and faster. But, after listening to the sales consultant and my husband, I ended up leaving the store with this one.
From the start, you can see the pros and cons. I'll begin with the negative points:
Weight and size. We're talking about almost 700 grams of weight to carry around. Women's handbags already have to deal with heavy cosmetics and medications, and then there's this massive PowerBank. Due to its significant weight, it's not suitable for casual evening strolls or clubbing. It won't even fit in a regular men's bag. You'll need a backpack or a travel bag to carry it. And, to be honest, the ad slogan about traveling came to mind...So, yeah, it's perfect for travelers who hike or take the train. But, for everyone else, you'll have to carry it on your person. The cable that comes with this purchase is a bit of an annoyance. I don't get why they'd include a 25cm cable as standard - it's just going to get lost in the depths of my flat. (The charger doesn't come with it either). The 'fast' charging. I'm not impressed - it takes at least 6 hours to fully charge the device from empty. The LED indicator shows the charge level, but each little segment takes over an hour to fill. That's a rare sight in my house.I've gotta give credit to some undeniable pros:
The plastic body is surprisingly resistant to scratches and wear. Of course, we don't exactly dust off our external battery from the outside. We use it to the fullest: take it on trips, travels, and sleepovers at friends' houses. It's a pretty eventful life for a gadget. Given the level of abuse and wear and tear, it looks surprisingly good. The rounded edges and textured matte finish make for a comfortable and non-slip experience. The LED indicator lets you know the battery level without having to guess. When I bought it, I was surprised that this feature wasn't included on all devices. The USB port is a real winner. You can charge multiple devices at once. We mostly stuck to charging our smartphones. For experimentation's sake, we plugged in a laptop and desktop – it worked like a charm on both. There's protection against short circuits and overloads. Luckily, I didn't have to put this feature to the test.I'm really happy with the external battery TFN Solid 30 PD 30000мАч. It came in handy during our train trip. It charged three actively used smartphones for a full night (yes, really!). However, if the portable battery itself is low on charge or you're using it to charge something that's being used heavily (like when I'm gaming on my phone), it won't charge anything. It just maintains the existing charge level. It won't drain it, but it won't charge it either.
The power bank has performed well in home use too. It's really convenient to have a reliable power source that's not tied to a wall socket. If you don't mind the weight, I think you'll be happy with its performance.
