Franziskaner Weissbier

Franziskaner Weissbier

Franziskaner Weissbier is a classic German wheat beer that's brewed with a blend of barley and wheat malts. It's the perfect choice for warm weather or when you need a taste of the Bavarian countryside in a pint. I've had my fair share of wheat beers, but this one's got a crisp, clean finish that really sets it apart. The high-quality ingredients shine through in every sip.

I still can't remember the exact moment I first tried this beer, but I do recall working as a liquor store manager back in the day. When I left that job, I treated myself to a set in a cardboard package with a tall beer glass, which you'll see in this review.
I was already hooked on Franziskaner Weissbier back then. So, I decided to celebrate my exit with it - no fancy martinis or wine for me, just this amazing drink.
Okay, let's get to some facts.
"Franziskaner" Hefe-Weisse
This beer comes in a 0.5-liter bottle, glass or aluminum, or you might find it in 5-liter kegs, but that's super rare.
⚛ Value for money is a gamble.
It's available on store shelves for 200 rubles per 0.5-liter bottle, but you can also hit the jackpot at "Magnit" or "KB" and find it for 120 rubles.
I recently bought it at Magnit for a whopping 106 rubles per can.
⚛ Country of origin - Germany
⚛ Packaging
Standard aluminum can or glass bottle with foil.
Expiration date on the bottom
Cheque on top
The can itself is a golden yellow color with a thick monk on the label.
Now, let's talk about the history of the Franziskaner brewery
The story of this brewery dates back to 1363. In historical records, there's a mention of a man named Seidel Vaterstetter who 'owned a brewery next to the Franciscans in Munich' (the brewery was located across the road from the Franciscan monastery). In the mid-19th century, the brewery was bought by Augustin, the adopted son of Gabriel Seldlmayer, the owner of the 'Spaten' brewery. And in 1865, it merged with the 'Leist' brewery, which also belonged to the Seldlmayer family and was called 'Franziskaner-Leist'. Since 1922, the brewery, along with the Spaten factory, has been part of the Seldlmayer family's joint-stock company and has been known as Spaten-Franziskaner-Brau. In 1935, Munich artist Ludwig Holwein designed the logo for 'Franziskaner' beer, which still adorns the bottles to this day - a wise Franciscan monk with a beer mug. By the end of the 20th century, the Franziskaner brewery had reached a new level of development, significantly expanding its network of branches and distribution channels, modernizing production and bottling technology. The result was an increase in sales volume, exceeding 1 million hectoliters per year. The brewery became one of the leaders in the wheat beer segment, and the beer itself gained massive popularity not only in Germany but also on the global beer market.
⚛ Ingredients
Water, Malted Barley, Barley Malt, Hops
Simple, nothing extra, just a standard brew composition.
⚛ Storage Conditions
Between +4°C and +6°C in a dark place. It's recommended to consume the contents immediately after opening the packaging.
Strength - 5.0%Density - 11.8%
⚛ My Personal Experience and Impressions
Franziskaner Weissbier, as far as I can tell, doesn't have a taste difference between the glass and aluminum, which sometimes happens with other brands.
Nailing the beer into a glass creates a high, dense foam.
I have to say, this is the one thing that didn't quite meet my expectations. No matter how carefully you pour it, the foam will always be like the photo
But it settles down after a short while.
So, you can't call it extremely dense.
I prefer drinking this beer at room temperature or slightly warmer, rather than straight from the fridge.
For me, cold water can downplay the flavor, so I like it best when it's at a comfortable temperature.
Under these conditions, the flavor really comes alive.
Wheat beer can be different, but this one is light, refreshing, and deep all at once.
The bitterness is barely noticeable, which I really appreciate. I've never had a non-filtered beer as harmonious as this one. Maybe that's why it's my go-to choice.
The acidity is minimal but present.
The color is hazy or cloudy, whichever you prefer. It's a rich, wheaty-yellow hue.
It's a truly divine drink.
It's soft, smooth, and enveloping.
The effect on my mind is roughly the same.
Just go ahead and try it if you like non-filtered beer.
But don't make the mistake of drinking too much of it - you'll regret it in the morning, just like with any other non-filtered beer.
⚛ I highly recommend giving it a shot. It's truly delicious.
I've gotta say, the customer support team was super helpful when I had a question about the return process. They replied to my email within a few hours and walked me through everything I needed to know.
I ended up returning the SmartHome Pro after a week of using it, and the process was seamless. The SmartHome Pro team sent a return shipping label, and I just dropped it off at the post office. No hassle at all.
I'm really impressed with how the company handled the return process. It's a big part of why I'd consider buying from them again in the future.
