Ringing in 2026 with a Special Bottle of French Champagne

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm a champagne enthusiast, and this year I'm celebrating the start of 2026 with a special bottle from Claude Cazals. I received this lovely French champagne as a gift, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to part with it - it's that good! The aroma is intense and complex, with notes of fruit and flowers, while the flavors are well-balanced and smooth, with a hint of oak. The bubbles are fine and persistent, making it a pleasure to drink. The packaging is elegant and sophisticated, perfect for special occasions. The aging process gives it a depth and complexity that's hard to find in other champagnes. But let's get real, the price is steep. Still, it's worth every penny if you're looking to splurge on a special occasion.

Hello!
I've got my own New Year's traditions - some people always celebrate with the same crew, others can't do without caviar, and I've got a thing for champagne. Not just any champagne, mind you, but the real deal from the French region of Champagne, made using the traditional method with a minimum of 3 years' aging on the lees.
And this year, I'm ringing in 2026 with a special bottle that I just have to share.
Claude Cazals Cuvée Rosée Grand Cru
Production: France
Grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir. A quick aside - champagne can only be made from specific, regulated grape varieties.
Alcohol content: 12.5%
Volume: 750ml - the standard bottle size
Aging: 3 years on the lees, which affects the wine's complexity and smoothness
Price and where to buy: I got this lovely bottle as a gift from work, but you can usually find it in wine shops. You won't find it on supermarket shelves, though - it's a bit pricey, with a tag of around 13,000 to 15,000 rubles. And let's not forget that, due to sanctions and tax hikes over the past few years, champagne prices have more than doubled.
The bottle.
It's made from thick, dark green glass.
The shape is a bit rounded, which is pretty typical for Champagne.
On the front, you'll see the name and category of the champagne.
Grand Cru (Gruyère) champagne is a high-quality sparkling wine from the Champagne region, made from grapes grown in officially recognized villages (Grand Cru) using the French classification system (Echelle des Crus), guaranteeing exceptional quality of the raw materials and, consequently, the final product, marking the pinnacle of the wine hierarchy.
The back label is in Russian.
One thing that caught my eye was the tax stamp on the side, which allows the wine to be sold in Russia.
The base of the bottle has a convenient indentation that makes it easy to pour without spilling a drop.
The neck of the bottle is sealed with a golden foil, which is also branded.
Underneath, there's a cork that's held in place by a special stopper called a muselet. According to legend, the first muselet was invented by the widow of a winemaker who pulled a wire from her corset. I don't know if that's true, but the fact remains that the muselet has a specific length and is always twisted to 8 turns.
The standard cork is made from natural oak and is branded. It's designed to withstand high pressure and opens with a satisfying pop. In fact, a quiet and gentle pop is a sign of a skilled winemaker.
Unboxing and first impressions
Let's pour some champagne into the glasses.
It has a great perlage (bubbles), with lively and abundant bubbles that last a long time in the glass. And they stay until the very end of the bottle.
The color of the drink is a pleasant rose-gold, which is quite appealing.
The aroma is incredibly pleasant, unfolding in the glass gradually, allowing you to experience all the new and new nuances. Freshness, fruitiness, and then the shades of yeast, baked apple, and soft croissant or fresh brioche appear. All the things we love about champagne. Overall, a stable and pleasant association with a fruit pie emerges, with both ripe strawberries and forest raspberries and blackcurrants. Bliss.
I genuinely recommend pouring it into a wide glass (and definitely not into a narrow one, which mass-market positioning suggests for sparkling wines), and you'll get a fuller and more voluminous experience of the exquisite aroma.
The taste doesn't disappoint. This is freshness with good, but well-balanced acidity that doesn't pucker your face, but pleasantly refreshes. Fruit notes and a bread-like aftertaste. Everything is rich and simply top-notch.
Celebrating New Year's with this wine is pure bliss! It gives you a real sense of celebration and something special. The only thing, champagne and good food go well together, whether it's fish, white meat, or many snacks, but I think it's best to drink it without accompaniment to fully experience the taste and aroma of the drink.
The intoxication gives a very pleasant, light, and fun feeling, and what's important, it comes very quickly and passes just as quickly, leaving no aftertaste. My head doesn't feel heavy or hurt. This is another sign of a high-quality wine.
Conclusion :
Naturally, I recommend trying this fantastic champagne at some point – it's great both in terms of taste and aroma and its effect on the body. The only thing that slightly bothers me is the price – you can't afford it every day, but on the other hand, it's okay to splurge on a special occasion like New Year's or to order it as a gift.
Happy New Year to all!
I've gotta say, this product has exceeded my expectations in every way. The value for money is excellent – I got this lovely bottle as a gift from work, but you can usually find it in wine shops. You won't find it on supermarket shelves, though - it's a bit pricey, with a tag of around 13,000 to 15,000 rubles. And let's not forget that, due to sanctions and tax hikes over the past few years, champagne prices have more than doubled.
The shipping was also a breeze – the bottle arrived in perfect condition, and I was impressed by the packaging.
I've been using it for a week straight, and it still has plenty of juice left – the battery life is insane!
The customer support team has been super responsive too, answering all my questions and concerns in a timely manner. I've had zero issues with returns or exchanges, which is a major plus in my book.
All in all, I'd say this champagne is definitely worth every penny – it's a luxurious treat that's perfect for special occasions.
