Banking Nightmare: BSPB's Inconvenient and Dishonest Service
add_circle Pros
- The app is now super simple and easy to use, but that's about it.
- The bank's branches are located in convenient areas, but that's not enough to make up for the poor service.
- The bank offers a Saint Petersburg card, which is a decent option, but it's not worth the hassle.
- The bank's website is easy to navigate, but it's not like it's a game changer or anything.
- The bank's customer support is responsive, but only when you're in the branch, and even then, it's not like they're going to solve your problem.
remove_circle Cons
- The app is a total disaster - it crashes, it doesn't send SMS codes, and it's just a pain to use.
- The branches are a hassle - long lines, unhelpful staff, and a general sense of incompetence.
- The customer support is non-existent - they promise to help, but they never do.
- The bank's service standards are ridiculously low - it's like they're not even trying.
- I've been trying to get the promised services for 3 months now, and I'm still waiting.

Editor's Summary
I've been a client at Bank Saint Petersburg for about 6 years, but my experience has been a total letdown. The app is a disaster, the branches are a hassle, and the customer support is non-existent. I'm still trying to get the promised services after 3 months, and I'm not getting anywhere.
Specifications
Hello there! I'm a client at a few banks, but Bank Saint Petersburg (BSPB) is by far the most inconvenient. Now I can say it's also dishonest.
I've been a client for about 6 years, ever since I got a Saint Petersburg card. Now I regret choosing this bank - I could've gone with one of the other three options.
I only had the card, but I've constantly run into issues: the app would crash and refuse to let me log in, or SMS codes wouldn't arrive (despite the bank claiming they'd been sent). The only way to resolve these issues was to visit a bank branch. I think it's weird in 2024 to have to go to a bank branch, wait in line, and then have an operator send me an SMS code to log in.
The branches themselves often have long lines - I've been there when only one out of six windows was open.
The app is a whole other story. For a while, it kept telling me it was outdated and needed to be reinstalled, but nothing changed, even though my husband had no issues and we both became clients on the same day.
Now the app is super simple, almost minimalist. But it does have stories, just like the competition.
Bank Saint PetersburgUntil August of this year, I was pretty neutral about this bank because I didn't have any major issues - I just had a basic card. But one day I opened the app and saw an offer: open a savings account, put in 1 ruble, and after a month, we'll give you 1000 rubles on that account.
The conditions for the savings account are pretty good - it's free. I could've put in just 1 ruble, but I ended up putting in more. And then I waited for the interest and the promised 1000 rubles.
My husband and I opened our accounts on the same day (we put in 2000 rubles for the family - it's better to have two, I told my mom, and she's also a client of this bank, so she wanted to take advantage of the offer too).
Now, pay attention. In late September, my husband actually received the 1000 rubles on his savings account, but my mom and I didn't. We all followed the same conditions.
I'm writing to support.
Bank Saint PetersburgThe operators just keep passing the buck - it's normal.
Bank of St. Petersburg I was told that the payout would be by the end of October. I really regret not taking a screenshot of this promotion - I just couldn't even think that it might come in handy. Okay, I'll agree to another month.
A month goes by - and nothing!
Bank of St. Petersburg And then they start asking me: how did you even find out about the promotion? And what were the conditions? And you, Bank of St. Petersburg, don't even know about your own promotions and conditions?! I have to tell you?!
Bank of St. Petersburg reviews I had to answer how and what. And the further explanation about the communication channel just killed me! What kind of communication channels are there? Telepathic ones or something? You post an ad for the promotion in the app, and then you ask me all this nonsense!
Bank of St. Petersburg
And again, a request to the profile department!
Bank of St. Petersburg And again, complete silence after the promised deadline. And my new request. And a new promise to look into it within 3 days.
Bank of St. Petersburg reviews Meanwhile, my mom also wrote in the chat and they paid her thousand! I'm the only one left who's unlucky.
Today, I wrote to the bank's chat again. Now they promise to look into it again, but the deadline has been extended to 15 working days.
But the funniest part is that they even try to sell something to an unhappy customer!
Bank of St. Petersburg She noticed it, and oh, how attentive they are.
Of course, this "ephemeral" thousand is a drop in the bucket compared to what people write in other reviews. But still, it's unpleasant. Why did they pay someone else under the same conditions, while I have to go through all this hassle with customer support, telling them about my "communication channels" and "promised conditions"?
My Verdict: Avoid This Bank at All Costs! I've gotta say, my experience with this bank has been a total disaster. The interface is clunky, outdated, and to make matters worse, they're not even honest about their services. I asked them a pretty basic question, and they still managed to mess it up. I shudder to think what would happen if I needed to deal with something more serious, like a loan or a mortgage. Trust me, steer clear of this bank.
