Editor's Summary
A darker, more mature take on the classic Alice: Madness Returns game, but with some notable drawbacks.
Specifications
So, I've finally got my hands on Alice: Madness Returns, and let me tell you, this game is a wild ride! But before I dive in, a heads up: if you haven't played the original 2001 game, you're gonna want to do that first. Otherwise, you'll be missing out on a ton of context and, honestly, half the fun.
Now, the visuals in this game? Absolutely stunning! The attention to detail is insane, and it's one of those rare games where the graphics are actually better in person than in screenshots. But what's with the weird intro? And why the knife instead of an 'i' in the title? You'll figure it out eventually, but trust me, it's worth the confusion.
One thing that does bother me, though, is the super-linear storyline. I mean, I get it, it's supposed to be a more mature take on the original, but it feels like the devs took all the fun out of it. You can't influence the outcome, and that's a major minus for me. But, despite all that, the game does teach an important lesson: past tragedies don't have to ruin our lives. We can get through them, and it's okay to feel happy again.
