I recently picked up the unpeeled royal prawns from Agama, and I'm glad I did.
They boast a rich flavor that's hard to beat. They're large in size, which is a big plus.I've tried peeled prawns before, and they're tiny. Sure, they're less of a hassle, but they're basically flavorless - it's like eating rubber.
In this review, I'll break down the details of Agama's Royal Prawn XXL, including how many prawns are in a pack, how many grams of prawns you get after thawing and peeling, and share a recipe for a tasty cream soup.
Agama Royal Prawn XXL varietal prawns are sold in supermarkets for 849 rubles at the moment. That's a pretty good price for the quality you get.
Agama Royal Prawn XXLThe pack weighs 700 grams, which is a good amount for a family-sized meal.
The prawns are XXL in size, unpeeled (with heads and shells), which is perfect for those who want to get the most out of their seafood.

Agama Prawns RoyalPlace of origin: internal waters of Ecuador. Aquaculture product.
Composition: white-legged prawns
Manufacturer: Russia
So, how many prawns are in a pack, and how many grams are left after peeling? I was curious to find out.
Product weight (with glaze): 700 g
Net weight (without glaze): 602 g
Glaze mass share: 14%
I took half the pack (350 grams), and it had 12 prawns. In the second half of the pack (also 350 grams, which I weighed), there were 11 prawns left. I'm not sure why there were fewer prawns in the second half, but the manufacturer's weight is clear.
Total in the pack: 23 prawns.
Agama Royal Prawn XXLI thawed the first part of the product incorrectly - I poured boiling water over the prawns. Not the best way to do it, but it didn't affect the taste of the dish.
Thawing methods:
At room temperature - 1-2 hours
In the refrigerator - 4-5 hours
Under a stream of cold water for 15 minutes, without removing from the package.
My thawing method didn't affect the taste of the dish, but I suppose frozen shrimp thawed this way might need a slightly shorter cooking time.
After waiting for 5 minutes for the shrimp to thaw, I removed the head, shell, and then used a knife to cut open the belly and take out the digestive tract.
Weighing them, I got 157 grams of thawed and cleaned Agama Royal XXL shrimp.
Royal shrimp AgamaSo, from 700 grams of frozen shrimp in the glaze, you get 314 grams of cleaned, thawed, and ready-to-cook shrimp. Then I dropped them into boiling water with lemon juice and salt, cooked for no more than 2-3 minutes (any longer and they'd be rubbery), drained the water – and the shrimp were done.
The recipe for the cream soup I added the shrimp to (serves 3).
2 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and cut into 4 pieces + 400 grams of frozen broccoli Hortex + salt – cook in a steamer, 35-40 minutes.
Once the veggies are done, transfer them to a pot, add some seasoning (I use Italian herbs by Kotanyi), a bit more salt to taste, 200 ml of 10% cream, 3 tbsp of olive oil, and enough water to achieve the desired consistency for the cream soup. Blend it all together with a blender. Heat it up gently, but don't let it boil (or the cream will curdle). Serve it in bowls, add the shrimp.
Frozen, unpeeled shrimp Agama Royal XXLThis photo is a bit too emotional.Of course, you could use croutons instead of shrimp, but it's way more delicious and nutritious with shrimp!
Shrimp contain astaxanthin – a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from the negative effects of UV radiation and oxidative stress, and also helps with collagen production, improving skin texture and elasticity.
I've got a confession to make - I fell head over heels for the broccoli cream soup at a local cafe. It was cooked to perfection, and I just couldn't get enough of it! Unfortunately, that cafe closed down, but I stumbled upon a recipe for cream soup on a food blogger's channel, and it looked ridiculously easy to make. I gave it a shot, and I was blown away by how delicious it turned out! To this day, I only make broccoli cream soup using this recipe, and it's just as good as the one from the cafe.
