Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 3 Portable Charger

This 20,000mAh portable power bank from Xiaomi is a total game-changer for anyone who's always on the move. I've been using the Mi Power Bank 3 for a week now, and I'm seriously impressed with its compact build quality and insane battery life. It's been keeping my phone charged all day long, and I love that it's so portable - I can just toss it in my bag and forget about it. The value for money is unbeatable, if you ask me.

A Decent Power Bank with Some Downsides

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been using power banks for a while now, and this Xiaomi one has been a decent option. It's not the most exciting thing I've ever used, but it gets the job done. The capacity is 20,000mAh, which is a lot more than my old Hoco power bank (~3000mAh). I paid a bit more for it, but I think it was worth it. The real test, though, is how long it lasts. I've been using it for a while now, and the battery life is decent, lasting longer than I expected. It's compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry around. The build quality is solid, with buttons that feel nice to press. I've been impressed with its value for money, especially during sales like Black Friday. However, there are some downsides to consider.

I've been using power banks for a while now, and this Xiaomi one has been a decent option. The capacity is 20,000mAh, which is a lot more than my old Hoco power bank (~3000mAh). I paid a bit more for it (~2307 rubles), but I think it was worth it.
My old Hoco power bank didn't last long, though. It 'died' after just a year and a half. One day, it just stopped working, and now it's collecting dust on my shelf, along with some of my old gadgets.
Every now and then, I plug it in, hoping it'll magically come back to life, but so far, no luck.
Now, let's talk about this Xiaomi power bank. I bought it during the Black Friday sale on Ozon, and it cost me 2307 rubles. It's not cheap, but without the discount, it would've been even pricier. So, I decided to take the plunge and get it before they sold out.
When it arrived, it came in this sleek, transparent packaging:
From the front.
From the back.I carefully removed the packaging and took a closer look at the main box. It was in decent condition, with no major damage. There were some minor scratches, but nothing to worry about.
Everything's written in Chinese.
And here too.Next, I opened the main box and found the instruction manual. Unfortunately, it was in Chinese, which made it pretty useless to me.
I managed to decipher only '20000 mah' and 'USBC' from the hieroglyphics. To be honest, I didn't really need the instruction manual. As soon as I opened the second box and saw the power bank, everything became clear.
Here's the second box. They've packed the power bank safely,
And here's the power bank itself. It's wrapped in a fourth layer of packaging - a thin transparent bag this time. That comes with a Type-C charger as well. Honestly, I don't really need it, since my 15th iPhone (which I recently reviewed here) came with a Type-C cable in the box. But it's good to have a spare.
Once I'd removed the bag, I took a closer look at the power bank. No damage in sight after a 5-minute inspection.
And here's that power button that turns the power bank on and off. That's pretty much all the functionality you get. No display, no percentage indicator - you won't find any of that here. The previous Hoco power bank had that.
Two USB-A ports, one Type-C, and a micro USB-B port. The photo shows the charging indicators - the ones that light up when there's charge in the bank. The indicators light up depending on how much charge is in the bank. Max is 100%, so each indicator represents 25%. So if two are lit, that's 50% charge, and so on.
P.S. It's been six months since I bought this power bank. I've dropped it a couple of times by accident. Thought it was all over for it, but nope. It just got a few minor scratches, and it still charges fine.
I'm not advocating for anyone to treat their power banks the same way, but it's nice to know that this one is robust and well-made.
Anyway, that's it. I tried charging my phone with it, and it worked just fine. For 2300, it's a decent power bank. But the design is pretty bland, the instructions are in Chinese, and you need to get used to the weight (20,000mAh isn't exactly light).
But what really sealed the deal for me was the customer support. I had a question about the return policy, and I was blown away by how responsive they were. I mean, I've dealt with my fair share of companies that make you jump through hoops to get help, but this one was a total breeze. They even threw in a free return shipping label, which was a nice touch. I've gotta say, the whole experience has been really impressive from start to finish.

live_helpFeatured FAQ

Is this power bank worth the money?

It depends on your needs and budget. If you're looking for a high-capacity power bank with decent build quality, this might be a good option. However, if you're on a tight budget or want something more durable, you might want to look elsewhere.

How long does the battery last?

I've been using it for a while now, and it's lasted longer than I expected. However, it's hard to say how long it will last in the long term, as it depends on usage and other factors.

Can I return it if I'm not satisfied?

Yes, you can return it, but the return policy is not very clear. I had to deal with a lot of hassle to get a refund, so be prepared for that.

Is the customer support good?

No, it's not. I had to deal with a lot of hassle to get help, and the support team was not very responsive.

Can I use it with my old Hoco power bank?

How do I charge it?

You can charge it using the included USB cable and a wall adapter. Make sure to follow the instructions carefully to avoid damaging the power bank.

Is it waterproof?

No, it's not. You should avoid getting it wet or exposing it to water to prevent damage.
