My Cat's a Convert - He's Now Hooked on This Gel-Style Wet Food
Hello there!
I've been trying out different flavors of wet food for my cat for ages, and for a while, they were obsessed with the ragù-style form and wouldn't touch the pâté or jelly. But I decided to give the jelly a shot, and if they didn't like it, I'd just give it to my mom's cat instead. So, I bought a box of Whiskas wet food with different flavors, and today I'm here to share my review of Whiskas Jelly with Beef and Lamb.
Whiskas Jelly with Beef and LambPrice: 25 rubles.Weight: 75 grams.Where to buy: pet stores, regular stores, and online marketplaces.Country of origin: Russia.Shelf life: 1 year in sealed packaging, a few hours in open packaging.
Whiskas Jelly with Beef and LambProduct description:
This is a complete wet food for cats and kittens over one year old. I couldn't find any information about whether it's suitable for spayed cats or not, so I'm assuming it's mainly for adult cats. This wet food replaces dry food and natural feeding, and it's perfect for cats after surgery, during illness, tooth loss, or when they're not drinking enough water – it helps to replenish fluids in their bodies. Here's what the product description says on one of the online marketplaces:

Ingredients: meat and offal (including beef and lamb), animal-derived products, wheat flour, amino acids (including taurine), thickeners, mineral substances, vitamins, beet pulp, sugars, natural colours.
Whiskas Cat Food - Beef and Lamb JellyPackaging - it's a standard little packet with a foil-sealed bag that's easy to open with two little notches on either side. I was impressed by how simple it is to get into. The packaging is pretty in purple with a cat on both sides, and it's got all the details you need: product info, manufacturer, ingredients, and more.
Whiskas Cat Food - Beef and Lamb JellyThe packet itself weighs in at 75 grams. They've got cat food, dog food, and even food for their little ones. There are all sorts of flavors and forms - jelly, sauce, pâté. Just don't expect any special medical diets, as they're not professionals in that area.
Whiskas Cat Food - Beef and Lamb JellyTexture - it's really pleasant, kind of like a cold meat jelly or aspic. There are medium-sized chunks in the jelly, which is a nice amount. It looks pretty appetizing, and the jelly form is actually really convenient for squeezing out of the packet until the very last bit, which I think is a nice touch.Color - it's a nice brown.
Whiskas Jelly Cat Food with Beef and LambWhiskas Jelly Cat Food with Beef and LambSmell and Taste are a hit with the furry friend, and he reacts immediately to the food, even though he's blind. I was impressed by the pleasant smell, and the freshness of the contents is a big plus too. My cat devours the food with gusto, and it's a huge relief to see him enjoying it so much, which confirms that the smell and taste are right on the money for feline preferences.
Whiskas Jelly Cat Food with Beef and LambWhiskas Jelly Cat Food with Beef and LambUsage:
The food is ready to go straight away after being squeezed out. It can sit out for a few hours, but it's a good idea to stash it in the fridge if your cat isn't going to eat it right away. Before serving, it's a good idea to let it sit in the room until it's at a comfortable temperature.
My cat's weight is around 6.5 kg, but he's been getting by just fine on 3-4 packets a day without any dry food. He doesn't eat that on his own, so I've had to adjust the serving sizes for my own cat in this chart. My mom's cat, on the other hand, has a similar weight of 6 kg and 300 grams, but she can gobble down two and a half packets in one go. She's even eaten five packets in a day.
It's possible that her background as a stray cat has left her with a bigger appetite, but it's really down to the individual animal and their needs. We don't restrict our cats' food intake, and they rarely overeat.
Whiskas Cat Food with Beef and Lamb GelMy impressions.
I was prepared for my cat to pick at the gel and then walk away, since he's not exactly a fan of jelly-like textures. But he surprised me by digging in with gusto. He ate half of the serving and then wandered off, only to come back and finish the rest, leaving a few bits behind.
I thought maybe it was just the novelty that had him excited, but he's continued to eat the gel with enthusiasm on subsequent days. He's not picky and will eat whatever's put in front of him, as long as it's within reach.
I've been super happy to see that my cat loves this food and doesn't turn up his nose at it, even when I feed him multiple times a day. Often, he'll lick the bowl clean and gobble up the whole portion, and then a couple of hours later, he'll come back and ask for seconds, finishing the whole thing off. That really impressed me, if I'm being honest.
And get this - he even enjoys the jelly chunks and starts to chew on them with gusto. Although when I gave him the paunch with sauce, he'd leave the chunks behind and not always finish them off. Now that I'm keeping a close eye on his health, it's great to see him with such a strong appetite.
Not long ago, he was sick and had some problems, and he'd lost his appetite altogether. That made things worse for him, so now I'm really happy to be able to feed him regularly like this. I don't know what it is about these 'jelly bits' that he loves so much, but he can't get enough of them!
Whiskas Jelly with Beef and Lamb Cat FoodWhiskas Jelly with Beef and Lamb Cat FoodThis food, despite being in a jelly form, actually helps to replenish my cat's water intake. He's not a big drinker, and I have to coax him to drink a bit more, but I always make sure to put out fresh water next to his food, and sometimes he'll even take a few sips. The key is to find a convenient water container and change the water daily.
Feeding time is pretty consistent for my kitty. It takes about 2-3 hours of playtime or activity before it's hungry again. In the morning, it'll usually eat a whole serving of its favorite wet food and then take a nap. It doesn't wake up until around 4-5 pm, and then it's time for another meal. This usually lasts me through the day, but sometimes it'll ask for a little snack in the evening or early morning. I'm happy to oblige to make sure it's not feeling hungry.
Interestingly, I've noticed that appetite can increase when it's warmer outside or when the apartment is chilly. I'm not sure why, but I guess that's just the way it is for my little furry friend.
Whiskas Wet Cat Food with Beef and LambWhen switching to a new food, I follow the same principle as with dry food: start with 25%, then 50%, and finally 100%. It's usually recommended to do this transition over a period of 2-3 weeks, but in our case, it's more of a 'take it or leave it' situation.
I'm glad to report that my kitty hasn't experienced any issues with the transition. Its digestive health remains intact, and there haven't been any changes in stool quality, shedding, or skin irritations. No signs of allergies, individual reactions, or skin conditions have appeared either.
Whiskas Cat Food with Beef and Lamb JellyWhiskas Cat Food with Beef and Lamb JellyOne thing that's great about this food is that it's neutral in acidity, making it suitable for healthy or conditionally healthy cats. If your cat has specific health needs, there are therapeutic diets and specialized lines available. My cats generally do well on sterilized cat food, although the males can be a bit picky.
I won't dive too deep into the ingredients, as that's a topic best left to the experts. That being said, I've yet to find a cat food that's perfect, and there are always questions and doubts, regardless of the price point. Vets do recommend that cats get some moisture in their diet, even if it's just through wet food.
My cat and my mom's cat both need to eat wet food, actually - my cat had some teeth removed, and the vet recommended it to prevent dental issues. I ordered the same food for my mom's cat, and he loves the meat flavors, especially the beef and lamb jelly. My cat enjoys all the options, including the fish flavor.

What the manufacturer claims:
Whiskas Gel Cat Food with Beef and Lamb 1) Maintaining immunity sounds great, but it's impossible to verify at home. Fingers crossed it actually works! 2) I can't comment on the vitamins, as I'd need to do some research to verify them.
3) Maintaining healthy digestion - yes! It's definitely a plus, since my cat's been eating this food without any issues, and I've noticed problems in the past when they've refused to eat.
4) Maintaining healthy coat and skin. To be honest, I don't really pay attention to my cat's skin, but their coat hasn't changed for the better or worse since switching to this food. I've only noticed a difference a couple of times in the past.
Whiskas Gel Cat Food with Beef and LambI'm really pleased with this food - it's great value for money and does the job for my cat's specific needs. Of course, it's not suitable for every cat, but for me, it's been a game-changer. My cat's been able to use the litter box without any issues, and I've noticed a significant reduction in the formation of kidney stones, which was a problem in the past. I've been advised by my vet to stick to a single, high-quality food source to avoid compromising my cat's health, so I'm glad I've made the switch.
Whiskas Meat and Lamb Pouches for CatsCost and Value for Money.
I have to say, the consumption rate is quite high. My cat only eats wet food, 3-4 pouches per day, which makes even the budget option not so budget-friendly. Considering we have multiple cats, it's definitely more expensive than dry food. However, for our needs, wet food is a must, not just a luxury.
Whiskas Meat and Lamb Pouches for CatsVerdict:
Whiskas Meat and Lamb Pouches for Cats have won over my cat and my mom's cat, and their overall health has improved. This product has more pros than cons, which I'll list below for the sake of objectivity.
I'd definitely recommend it and give it 5 stars!
