Whiskas Gel Food for Cats with Chicken
Description:
When it comes to adult cat food, I've discovered that Whiskas is a great option. That being said, it's essential to note that some reviews suggest it's suitable for spayed or neutered cats, but I'm not entirely convinced - it's always best to consult with your vet for personalized advice. The Whiskas Gel Food for Cats with Chicken formula I've been using comes in a gel format with a chicken flavor that my cats absolutely love.

Whiskas Jelly with Chicken Cat Food
Whiskas Jelly with Chicken Cat FoodPackaging:
The packaging is a sealed, foil-wrapped packet in a lovely purple color with a cute cat design on both sides. It includes information about the product, ingredients, feeding table, and shelf life. The packet has notches on both sides, making it easy to open. The packet weighs 75g, and there are various flavors to suit any cat's taste. The product comes in different forms, such as pâté, jelly, stew, or sauce. There are options for kittens, adult cats, and even dogs. However, there are no therapeutic diets available.
Whiskas Cat Food Jelly with ChickenTexture:
The jelly texture is spot on, just like a human version of aspic or cold cut. To be honest, there's not a lot of jelly, maybe a bit less than average. The jelly's got a decent amount of decent-sized chunks in it. It looks pretty appetizing and the cat loves it. It's easy to dispense in one big chunk onto a plate and the cat just laps it up slowly.

Whiskas Cat Food Jelly with ChickenAroma and Taste:
Both the aroma and taste are a hit with my cat and seem pretty fresh to me. The aroma's a bit like canned food, but in a good way. My cat goes wild for it and will come running from any room in the house to get to it. And as for the taste, my cat's not picky - he'll eat it without hesitation.

Whiskas Cat Food Jelly with ChickenInstructions for Use:
The food is ready to serve straight away after squeezing it out of the packets. Generally, my cat gobbles it up quickly, but sometimes I store it in the fridge and it stays fresh for a few hours (around 24 hours). Then I leave it in the room to warm up to a comfortable temperature naturally, and serve it to my cat.
My cat weighs 6.5 kg, and the manufacturer recommends feeding more than he can eat in a day. He's happy with 3-4 pouches at most, but my mom's cat, who's roughly the same weight, can down up to 7 pouches. Maybe it's because of his history of being underfed, so every cat is different.
And let's not forget that wet food can be a problem when it comes to weight gain. It's harder to put on weight on dry food compared to wet food. So, it's worth keeping an eye on this aspect. In our case, my cat hasn't gained weight on this food and has even lost weight recently, and now he's not putting on much weight at all.
Whiskas Cat Food Jelly with ChickenMy Impressions:
I'm still surprised my cat eats jelly: previously, he didn't like this form of wet food and preferred only stew or sauce. But trying the jelly set, he discovered this form of food and now enjoys it, especially considering he loves chicken in any form.
My cat rated the jelly flavor right off the bat and ate it with gusto. He devoured about half of it immediately, then went back for the rest over the next 30 minutes or so. He didn't turn down the food, although he sometimes gets bored with the same jelly options and starts demanding something new.
The jelly is easy to squeeze out into a chunk, which is a relief for me, much more convenient than other forms. My cat eats the jelly itself and even doesn't leave the chunks behind, unlike when it's in stew form. He usually eats the whole meal in one go or in two trips. Occasionally, he'll go back for more a few times.
My cat has never turned down the chicken jelly, and he enjoys it even when he's not feeling his best. Despite the jelly form, he's no longer struggling with dehydration, which was a problem due to his lack of daily water intake. He drinks very little even on dry food.
According to the vet, I should keep feeding him wet food constantly, which I do. This option also helps with the dehydration issue – even if my cat doesn't drink, the wet food makes up for it because it contains water. That's the most valuable thing for me.
Because my cat eats normally and goes to the bathroom without issues, visiting the litter box 2-3 times a day, just like a healthy adult cat should. Previously, we had problems with his bathroom habits, and he'd get cystitis and kidney stones. I'd have to force-feed him water, until the doctors suggested trying jelly food.
Whiskas Jelly Cat Food with Chicken
Whiskas Jelly Cat Food with ChickenI've noticed that my cat doesn't drink a lot of water, even when I'm giving them wet food. I always keep a bowl of fresh water nearby, which I change daily, or they won't even think about drinking. Some owners add extra water to the jelly, but my cat doesn't like that and will just turn their nose up at it. According to the vet, the jelly itself is actually quite hydrating, despite not seeming to have enough water in it.
Nutrition-wise, the food is pretty standard - my cat usually eats it within 2 or 3 hours, although sometimes they'll ask for a snack in the morning. They wake up early, grab their packet, and inhale it in about 30 minutes. Then, they'll come back to their bowl a few hours later and ask for another packet, which they'll eat either completely or half of before settling down for a nap.
They sleep until around 4 or 5 pm, then come back to their bowl to finish off any leftovers. If there's still food left, they'll need another packet for the night, and they'll sleep soundly until morning. Occasionally, my cat will need an extra packet or two, but that's pretty rare.
Whiskas Cat Food with Chicken Jelly
Whiskas Cat Food with Chicken JellyTransitions can be tough when switching to a new food for your cat. I've learned the hard way that it's best to do it gradually. The rule of thumb is to start by adding 25% of the new food to their old diet, then increase the amount of new food to 50%. From there, you can gradually increase it to 75% and eventually switch to 100% new food. My cat, on the other hand, tends to go cold turkey - he'll finish his old food and then suddenly switch to the new stuff. I'm not sure if that's the right way to do it, but it seems to work for us.
One thing I'm happy about is that my cat hasn't had any issues with his digestive system or stool since switching to the new food. I've had issues with that in the past when introducing new foods, so that's a definite plus. As for his coat, it doesn't seem to have gotten any worse, but I was hoping for that silky, luscious look that the packaging promised. That being said, we haven't noticed any allergic reactions, skin issues, or excessive shedding either, so that's a win in my book.
Whiskas Cat Food Chicken GelI've checked the pH level, and it's pretty neutral, just like most other mass-market cat foods. This isn't a therapeutic diet, so it's not meant for preventing health issues. It's mainly suitable for healthy or conditionally healthy cats. I do want to note that many wet foods can lead to weight gain, so keep an eye on your cat's weight.
Ingredients aren't really my area of expertise, so I'll leave that to the pros. From what I've gathered, not all mass-market cat foods are created equal, and neither are all professional-grade options. It's all about finding the right fit for your cat and your lifestyle.
In our case, the food works well for our cat and addresses the main reason we started giving him wet food in the first place. I've also heard it can be helpful after cat surgeries when they lose their appetite, or for cats with dental issues, like my mom's cat. He's been eating Whiskas because he has problems with his teeth and had some teeth removed.

Manufacturer's claims:
Whiskas Cat Food Chicken Gel1) Supporting the immune system - I'm not sure if that's even possible, but it's great if it is. Unfortunately, I couldn't verify it at home. 2) As for the vitamins, I wouldn't know how to check that, so I'll just have to take the manufacturer's word for it.
3) Maintaining healthy digestion - and yes, Whiskas Gel with Chicken definitely does that. My cat eats it with gusto, so there's no sign of the digestive issues that can be a real problem for cats.
4) Keeping their coat and skin healthy. I haven't noticed any visual changes, but I'm hoping that's a good thing!
Whiskas Gel with Chicken Cat FoodThe main thing is that my cat loves it, and he's eating it without any issues. I'll definitely be buying this pack again, as it's really convenient for giving him a steady supply of food. He needs a lot of pouches per month, especially since he's recently gone off dry food on his own. We don't give him human food, just occasionally some meat. I agree with the idea that it's not a good idea to mix different types of food - it usually doesn't end well for their health.
Whiskas Gel with Chicken Cat FoodCost and value for money:
The consumption is high and not very economical. My cat eats around 3-4 pouches a day, which isn't exactly budget-friendly, but it's what it is. I usually buy in bulk packs, which works out cheaper and is more convenient for us. I also buy it for my mom's cats, as it's the only way to go when you have multiple pets.
The cost varies, but on average it's around 25 rubles per pack in our region. You can sometimes find it a bit cheaper on sale, but that's not common. The cost is the same whether you buy it online or in-store.
Whiskas Cat Food in Jelly with ChickenFinal Verdict:
I'm stoked to say that Whiskas Cat Food in Jelly with Chicken has been a hit with our feline friends and has even improved their overall well-being. On the plus side, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks, which, thankfully, we haven't encountered. I've listed them below for the sake of objectivity.
So, I'd definitely recommend this product and give it a solid 5 stars!
