My Cat's Obsession with Wellement Cat Topping
I've been itching to share my thoughts on the Wellement cat topping product, and let me tell you, it's been a wild ride.
My red cat, a notorious foodie and connoisseur of all things tasty, is usually willing to do just about anything for a treat, but until now, his gastronomic inclinations have stayed within the realm of the acceptable.
That was until I introduced him to Wellement's creamy cat topping in duck and shrimp flavor. It's been a game-changer, and I'm not just saying that because my cat has turned into a little thief.
The Basics.
Price: 154 rubles, which is a decent value for money considering the quality of the product. I've found it to be a good balance between affordability and quality.
Weight: 80 grams, which is a nice size for a single serving. This makes it easy to use and store.
Manufacturer: China, which doesn't necessarily raise any red flags for me.
Cats are true aesthetes. They love to choose, try, reject, and try again. That's why feeding your cat is not just a chore, but an art form. Wellement's creamy cat topping is designed to add flavor, variety, and genuine care to this art.
The duck and shrimp flavor variant is a harmonious blend of rich meaty flavor and light oceanic notes. Duck is a source of complete protein and iron, while shrimp adds an appetizing aroma that even the most finicky eaters can't resist. This combination will particularly appeal to cats who love something new and exciting.
With it, you can easily boost the flavor appeal of your cat's regular food – especially if your pet is starting to lose interest in their meals. The soft, creamy texture mixes perfectly with dry food and stimulates even the pickiest eaters' appetites. You can change the flavor every day, turning regular feeding into a celebration.
The creamy topping will also work for cats who don't drink enough water – it helps increase interest in liquids if added to water, or simply compensates for the lack of moisture due to its consistency.
I've found this product to be perfect for neutered and spayed cats, as well as for preventing kidney stones thanks to its gentle formula and added moisture.
The natural ingredients and probiotics help with good digestion and gentle nutrient absorption. No artificial additives, preservatives, or colors – just pure benefits and taste.
This product is suitable for cats of various breeds, including Maine Coon, Scottish Fold, British Shorthair, Siberian, Russian Blue, Sphynx, Ragdoll, Oriental, Abyssinian, and many others.
The product is manufactured in strict accordance with European standards FEDIAF, ensuring its high quality, safety, and nutritional value.
Buying Wellement's creamy topping for cats means giving your pet not just a treat, but a delicious, healthy, and varied addition to their diet that makes every day special.
I have to admit, the topping was a new experience for me, and at first, I was a bit lost trying to figure out how to use it best. It turns out it's a pretty versatile thing.
You can add it to dry food to make it more appealing to your pet, or mix it with water to encourage your cat to drink more, which is especially important for animals that don't drink much.
The product comes in different flavors, and what's interesting is that they differ in texture.
There are more liquid options that seem to work better when added to water. And then there are ones like this, with a texture similar to cream or pâté.
The packaging is done in a foil-plastic pouch that looks eerily similar to kids' fruit purees due to the unusual lid for cat food. The design is bright and eye-catching.
Almost all the information is in English, while the ingredients are listed in Russian.
Formula:
I was happy to see that the formula actually contains duck and shrimp in a good amount, no regrets there.
However, I'm a bit puzzled about which parts of the duck were used - were they organs, skin, bone meat, or filet?
I was a bit disappointed to see the presence of potato starch, and I would have preferred a more useful thickener instead of empty calories.
And to think its share is quite high, around 30%.
Guaranteed analysis.
After recalculating the values on dry matter, I got:
Protein - 33%, which is actually pretty good!
Fat - 1.6%. Maybe there's an error somewhere. Why is it so low?
Carbs - 53% - yikes!
And if this were a wet food, I wouldn't even consider it.
External Appearance:
I liked the format of the packaging with a screw-on lid.
Of course, the product needs to be stored somehow, since you can't give the whole package to the cat at once.
Smell: I could definitely smell the duck, but I couldn't pick out the shrimp. The smell is mild, without any chemical or typical pet food bitterness.
Texture: when you squeeze it out of the packaging, it's like mayonnaise, except it's a bit thicker, like a soft pâté.
Color: it's a uniform beige.
How I Use It:
I only use this as a treat, as the texture is a bit too thick for my liking, and I find it easier to just give it to my cat as is.
This stuff is pretty calorie-dense, so the manufacturer recommends only giving your cat up to 10% of their daily caloric intake. My cat's daily caloric intake is around 160-180 calories, so I can give them 16-18 grams of this stuff per day. That works out to about 4.5 days per pack.
I only use this as a treat, as the texture is a bit too thick for my liking, and I find it easier to just give it to my cat as is. There are other versions in the line that are more liquidy, which might be better for mixing with water. Plus, my cat is a total water-lover, so I don't really need to make their water more appealing.
My Cat's Reactions:
I was thrilled to see Semen's reaction when I offered him the duck and shrimp topping. He was super interested, sniffing it for a few seconds before diving in with gusto.
He ate it with such a satisfied look on his face that he even closed his eyes in pure bliss!
What really cracked me up was how much he loved eating the treat straight out of the packaging - even though it's harder to control the portion size. But he'd also finish every last crumb from a bowl, licking the dish clean.
One hilarious incident happened when I left a few packets of topping in a small box in the room.
For weeks, they just sat there, untouched. But as soon as I pulled out one packet (the cat hadn't seen me) and gave it to him, he was caught red-handed that very night.
I woke up to a strange scratching sound, turned on the light, and caught my cat trying to get to the contents of the packet, having already made a few holes in it.
Had to take the treat away and scold him. I returned the torn packet to the box, but this time I locked it with a latch (cardboard flaps) and went back to bed.
But not for long.
Soon, I heard the sound again, this time similar to scratching on cardboard. It was my cat, and his insatiable appetite for snacks. Had to shoo him away, but the situation repeated itself twice more before I finally banished him from the room.
It's clear that Wellement was so delicious that it was impossible for him to resist.
I'm totally stoked with this product! My cat loves it.
The meat content is pretty impressive, and you can really taste the duck.
The flavor is super soft and inviting.
There's a ton of topping options to choose from, all with different consistencies.
This product is seriously versatile – it makes both wet and dry food way more appealing to my cat.
The carb count is way too high.
