A Twisty Melodrama That'll Keep You Guessing Until the End

I was blown away by this series - it's a real departure from what I expected from a melodrama, and I'm glad I gave it a shot. The level of realism is top-notch, and it's got a young adult drama vibe that really draws you in. The show's complex characters and unexpected twists had me hooked from the very beginning.

Plot

Nadya (Olga Kalashnikova) - a widow, working at a gas station. Her kids - twin daughters Sonia and Toma - are finishing school. Nadya isn't really counting on personal happiness. But then she's suddenly smitten with a random visitor, Mikhail (Ivan Zhidkov) - a handsome and charming man younger than her. Nadya and Mikhail start living together. Mikhail tries really hard to get along with her kids, but it's not easy. The teenagers struggle to accept their stepfather. On the night after graduation, a high school student is brutally murdered. A teacher is arrested, who it turns out has been having a long-term affair with the girl. But Nadya suspects that it was her son who did it, and every new clue feels like a knife to her heart. Her son swears he didn't do it. Should she believe him or not? The police ultimately clear up the heroine's doubts, arresting not her son, but Mikhail's stepfather... Nadya has to decide if she can trust the people she loves until the very end...

The Star of the Show

Olga Kalashnikova shines as the lead, bringing depth and nuance to the character. Ivan Zhidkov plays her love interest with ease, bringing a charming and down-to-earth quality to the role.

Anastasia Krylova and Vitaly Dovgaluk deliver strong performances as the lead's kids, while Yuri Sazonov and Alexander Nikolsky bring conviction to their roles as the investigators. Vladislav Pogiba's portrayal of the anxious gym teacher is spot on, and Svetlana Kolpakova brings depth to his wife's character. Maria Ulyanova shines as the school's queen bee, and Yulia Serina is excellent as the lead's best friend.

The show's got some great moments where people are all like, 'Oh, they're just pretending to be in love,' but really, it's just about being true to yourself and your partner.One of the things that really stood out to me in this series is the super complex investigation into a disturbing past event. I mean, there's no clear suspect - it's like the whole town is shrouded in mystery. I have to say, the show's portrayal of a real school is super believable, with realistic scenes and settings that transported me right back to my school days. The visuals in the show aren't bright and flashy; instead, they're dark and dramatic, which adds to the realism of the early episodes.Music

The show is seriously tense, keeping me on the edge of my seat. The music is just as intense, with plenty of nail-biting moments that are perfectly complemented by the soundtrack. But there are also more relaxed moments, where the music takes a softer turn.Verdict

Watching this show left me with a lot of mixed feelings. On the one hand, it was super engaging and suspenseful – even if I did figure out the twist from the start. But then there are some moments that totally threw me off, and I'm not sure I'd have kept them in the show.What didn't I like?

I have to say, I was really disappointed by the explicit scenes between the teacher and student. I just didn't get why they were necessary – and I still don't. Another thing that bugged me is the jarring contrast between the intense realism of the first three episodes and the total fairy tale ending. It felt like the director suddenly remembered that this wasn't a drama, but a melodrama, and added a bunch of fairy tale nonsense to the show.

I'd definitely recommend this series. It's a unique take on the genre, and with a few tweaks, it could've been a top-notch detective series.
