A Solid Choice for My Aquarium: Tetra Wafer Mix Review

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been using the Tetra wafer mix for a while now, and it's been a game-changer for my aquarium. The mix is super easy to use – just sprinkle it on top of the water, and your fish will be happy and healthy in no time! It's also really affordable, with prices starting at around 110-120 rubles in most pet stores. I've noticed a significant improvement in the health and color of my fish since switching to this food mix, and I love that it's designed for a variety of fish types, including herbivorous, carnivorous, and bottom-dwelling fish. The packaging is also pretty informative, with clear instructions on how to use the product.

When it comes to keeping your aquarium fish happy and healthy, you can't go wrong with a diverse and high-quality food mix.
I'm taking a closer look at the Tetra wafer mix and how it stacks up in my aquarium.
Tetra wafer mix
This food mix is widely available in most pet stores and comes in various sizes and formats to suit your needs.
Tetra wafer mix
I picked up the Tetra wafer mix for 159 rubles at "4 lapy", but you can find it cheaper elsewhere (around 110-120 rubles).
TetraWaferMix - a mix of main food for herbivorous, carnivorous, and bottom-dwelling fish with added shrimp.
The packaging is pretty informative, with details about feeding your fish with this food, as well as other relevant information about the composition and manufacturer.
Tetra wafer mixAs for the format, I usually buy these chips in a packet because it's cheaper with the same quality.
For convenience, I simply pour the chips into an old jar and everyone's happy.
Tetra wafer mixFor catfish, I use different foods and simply rotate them. Of course, we don't forget about live food (like brine shrimp).
Tetra wafer mix Inside the packaging, you'll find the chips, and they're super convenient for anabantids to eat.
Tetra wafer mix They also come in different colors - green for herbivorous fish, and brown for carnivores.
Tetra wafer mix Green wafers made from spirulina algae are perfect for herbivorous bottom-dwellers, while brown ones are ideal for carnivores. They're dense, so they don't pollute the water, and their shape mimics natural food.
From what I've observed, both my other fish eat both types of food.
Tetra wafer mix
So, let's get to testing this food...
The cories didn't exactly love these chips, but the anabantids were a different story.
Tetra wafer mix Interestingly, the cories chased the anabantids away from this food, which the anabantids actually loved to eat, especially in the green version.
Tetra wafer mix If there's no green option, the anabantids will still eat the brown ones, but they'll still prefer fresh brine shrimp.
Tetra wafer mix My zebra danio, on the other hand, likes this food, but she's a night owl and prefers the granular version.
Tetra wafer mix To be honest, when I had shrimp, they only ate this food on the side.
So, the food remains pretty decent and suitable for most bottom-dwelling fish. Although, guppies won't turn their noses up at it - as long as it's had time to rehydrate.
The food itself doesn't cloud the water and is quite good in terms of composition.
I'm giving it a solid 5 stars and would definitely recommend it.
Pros:
Decent and suitable for most bottom-dwelling fish Doesn't cloud the water Good composition Available in various sizes and formats Convenient for anabantids to eat Comes in different colors - green for herbivorous fish, and brown for carnivores
Cons:
Not preferred by cories Not as popular among guppies as live food
