Why I Almost Switched from Tele2 but Ended Up Staying - Here's Why!

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been a loyal Tele2 customer for over 20 years, and my relationship with the operator has been a long and winding road. I got my first phone with Tele2 back in the day when the choice was limited, and their prices were the most attractive. As the years went by, many people switched to Beeline and MegaFon, but I stuck with Tele2, and I remained loyal to them. Fast forward to 2025, and I was still using Tele2, but I started to feel like I was paying too much for my plan. I've been weighing my options and considering whether to switch to a different operator, but I've decided to stick with Tele2. Their competitive prices, reliable coverage, and user-friendly interface are just a few reasons why I've chosen to stay.

Why I Almost Switched from Tele2 but Ended Up Staying - Here's Why!
Hello everyone!
I've been a loyal Tele2 customer for over 20 years, and my relationship with the operator has been a long and winding road. I got my first phone with Tele2 back in the day when the choice was limited, and their prices were the most attractive. I was just a 14-15-year-old girl, and all I needed was a flip phone. As the years went by, many people switched to Beeline and MegaFon, but I stuck with Tele2, and I remained loyal to them.
Later, with the advent of smartphones and mobile internet, Tele2 continued to impress me with its prices and tariffs. The only thing that sometimes annoyed me was that the connection would drop in some areas where Beeline and MegaFon had a stronger signal. However, this wasn't a frequent issue, so I didn't consider switching operators.
Fast forward to 2025, and I was still using Tele2. The price was no longer as appealing, especially when I was paying 620 rubles a month for 600 minutes, 25 GB, and 100 SMS. Plus, if I paid on time, the GB from the previous month would be carried over to my new account. I didn't stress too much about it, as 25 GB was more than enough for me. However, my job involves making calls all over Russia, and I work on my personal number, making a lot of calls and often. Sometimes, 600 minutes weren't enough, and I had to top up on the Tele2 Market.
The Tele2 Market was a decent platform until recently. You could not only buy but also sell excess GB. However, the traffic was limited. In the past, I created lots of listings with extra GB and sold them. There's a lottery element to it – you never know if someone will buy or not. You need to consider the nuances, choose the right time when demand is high, and use smiley faces to attract buyers' attention. Occasionally, I even managed to cover my monthly payment, earning more than 600 rubles. However, this was rare, as the platform requires time and effort, and it's not always available. I played on this market whenever I remembered, which was not often, about 3 times a month.
I won't go into too much detail about the market because it's not really relevant right now, considering the internet issues everyone's facing. People are mainly relying on mobile internet, and minutes are selling poorly - I've never managed to sell any in all the time I've been doing this.
So, What's the Latest with My Connection?
I'd say I'm not entirely unhappy. Overall, it's been decent, and it's caught a signal almost everywhere I've been. Even mobile internet has managed to connect in some areas where others were out of range. During trips, it's performed well, and I've never been completely without a signal.
Why Did I Decide to Stay On?
It's all pretty straightforward - I've made the decision to stick with it just like many others. I received a rather unseasonal text on New Year's Day...
I was pretty disappointed, to be honest, and I thought, 'Well, 720 is a pretty significant amount, and I'm not going to be able to cover any part of the market.' I decided it was time to start looking into other options, which are plentiful at the moment. But it was tough for me to make the decision, as I've grown accustomed to this service.
Why Did I Decide to Stay On?
I decided to log in to my account to see if there were any options to reduce the cost. And, as it turned out, I stumbled upon a pleasant surprise - a 25% discount on my tariff until January 1, 2027, which brought the price down to 600 rubles per month. So, I now have 600 minutes for calls to Russian numbers, 45 GB of internet, and 100 SMS.
While I was at it, I had a look around my account and stumbled upon the rewards section...
I also found some other cool perks: a 10% discount on Otello, which was super relevant for me
Discount codes for Sportmaster and Lenta, and a delivery discount for Magnit
I also got an extra 2026 GB storage for a month, which won't be super useful for me, but it's still nice
And, of course, the phone case is included
Final Verdict:
I was initially annoyed, but I've since forgiven Tele2 and our friendship is still intact – for now, at least. I hope I don't get any more unpleasant surprises, but I'm hoping for more pleasant ones instead
Thanks for reading, everyone! I hope my review will be helpful and you'll find some great deals and pleasant surprises
