Hello everyone! I've been on this site for exactly a month now, so I wanted to share my experience with newcomers who are still unsure. Old-timers might find it interesting too. I regularly read reviews in this section . To make it easier to follow, I'll break down my review into points.
A quick summary to give you an idea of whether you should keep reading or not – you won't find any useful info here. I'm just a regular author, I don't have my own fans or regular reader-friends. By the way, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but lots of people wrote that they've made friends on the site. I'm either not there yet or I'm there and just don't get it . Has anyone ever just come up to me and said, 'Hey, let's be friends,' and shared their secret?)
Reading reviews from newbies about earning, I figured out that I'm actually doing pretty well. Some people's reviews just get buried, and others don't get any views. I'm just one of the unlucky ones, ugh.
1. Introduction.
My name is Nadia, and I'm 23 years old. Here's what my profile looks like on IRecommend.
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend?I used to be an active user on the site, but just as a guest. I kept reading reviews on cat food because I wanted to make sure my cat wouldn't have any issues before buying. I actually couldn't find any reviews on one particular food, but I gave it to my cat anyway, so I decided to write a review myself so others like me could read it.
In the process of reading reviews, I noticed a link in one of them called 'about earnings' or something like that. Before that, I had no idea that people got paid for their opinions – I thought it was all volunteer work.
I decided to give it a try, why not? I mean, I've left plenty of reviews for free on other platforms . I just wrote my first review! It's a bit rough around the edges, not super polished, but I'm being honest. I even attached some photos, and I'm just waiting for the magic to happen. I read that there's a bonus of up to 100 rubles and a bunch of views, but I'll get to that in the 'income' section.
2. How I became an author.
The most important thing is that a review needs to have a structure. I mean, even if a review is super helpful and informative, it's impossible to read if it doesn't have one. Even if you don't use different fonts, at least break up each new idea into a new paragraph - that's just good old-fashioned writing 101.
As for informative content, I don't need to explain that. A good review should have some substance, not just a vague statement like 'I didn't like it.' Why didn't you like it? What specifically went wrong? There should be some evidence to back up your claims, not just empty accusations. If you're reviewing something in the beauty and health category, list out the product's main features and properties, and then make some conclusions based on that.
You can check out the site's rules for more review criteria. And I'll use the example of a TV show to illustrate what a good review structure looks like:
IntroductionGeneral infoOfficial annotationMain story without spoilersCharactersOpinion (graphics, character interaction, and development, dynamics, etc.)Conclusion and summaryLinks to other reviewsEverything's straightforward and accessible. I try not to use overly complex sentence structures, as I want the review to be understandable to most people (and I'm no genius 😄). It's better to choose an interesting and in-demand topic. I doubt anyone would be interested in a review of packaging tape, no matter how well-written it is.
The title's a crucial part – if it looks unappealing, people won't even bother to click and read. For me, the title takes up most of the time, and I write the review itself relatively quickly.
Many try to figure out the best time to post. And, quite often, older folks say it doesn't matter. Personally, I think it does.
I've noticed that posting during the day gets slightly more views. Maybe it's just the main traffic. If the review's good, people will watch it regardless of when you post it. However, there are fewer people online at night, so your efforts might go to waste. Yes, people will find it through search, but the first day is usually the most productive, as the review's new and appears on the main page (if it's well-written). For me, the most favorite hours to post are 1 pm and 6 pm – I found them to be the most successful.
I've got to say, the top 6 and top 24 lists are only for the best and most relevant content, but it's no guarantee of high views. I've had a post in the top 24 rack up 2000 views in a single day like this review, while another post in the same list only got 136 views, so it's hard to figure out what's going on.
Then there's Google's algorithm, which pretty much guarantees views if you make it in. I don't bother keeping track of it, but I do know that I've been featured in it once, and my aunt sent me a screenshot 😄.
My earnings from irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend? The key is to write from the heart and be honest, and the rest will fall into place. Chasing the top spot is just a waste of time.
3. What I'm writing about.
I'm writing about pretty much everything.
My earnings from irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend?I've got a few categories that I regularly write about:
I started off in the 'pets' category, which I love because I'm familiar with it. When I buy something new for my furry friend, I write about it there, but this category isn't forever – eventually, the products run out. The worst part is the low bonus. My highest reward was 12.5 rubles, but it's usually just 1-3 rubles. Now, after two months, I've gained some experience and got a 50-ruble bonus for a review, which is my personal record.Tourism. It's my passion, and I got a huge bonus for reviewing Dzhily-Su 😊. I love traveling, but this is a pretty irregular topic – I could write about it every day. I focus on specific cities because I don't enjoy writing about hotels, although I could try.
My earnings from irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend?TV shows and movies. This is an endless source of inspiration, and the best part is that I don't have to buy anything – I just lie back and watch some shows. I've gotten the maximum bonus (25 rubles) almost every time I write about this category.Autos and tech – I enjoy writing about it, but unfortunately, I don't have many cars 😄. In the past month, I've added a few reviews of tech products. In sections with fewer than 20 reviews, I got a 100-ruble bonus.Categories where I write, but without much enthusiasm:
Beauty and health. I'm a big user of cosmetics, perfumes, and other stuff, but I sometimes struggle to write about it because the process can be a drag. I have to admit, it's not my favorite category to cover. I've recently started reviewing terry cloth masks and got the maximum bonus points for them, which actually paid off, but the views are pretty low.Household cleaning products. I can write about them, but I don't expect to get a huge following. I've added some new reviews to this category, and I'm getting some small bonuses, around 25-50 rubles, which is nice, I guess.I'm not really into writing about:
Clothing. I managed to sneak into this category with my opinion, but only for underwear and premium stuff. Surprisingly, the views are great, and I thought nobody would even look at it.Food. I've taken a look at this category, but mostly just for the alcohol section.I'll think about the other categories later 😁.
4. Community moderation and customer support.
Sorry to say this, but you won't find anything positive here. There are many unobjective moderators, slow customer support, and generic responses.
Before a review gets published, it has to pass a check for compliance with the site's rules, which is what community moderators do. And some of them are honest, while others seem to be giving ratings from thin air. Sometimes, a well-written review with good photos gets stuck in the 'new' tab, while a blank review with no photos makes it to the 'best' tab. I have no idea what the site's admins are thinking.
My experience with customer support has been pretty underwhelming. I mean, it's there, but it's also kind of not there at the same time.
You won't be able to get in touch with a specific representative from the site. Instead, you'll just get automated responses to all your questions.
My earnings on the irecommend.ru website. Is it possible to make money on IRecommend? The response time is ridiculously long. I've had to wait up to 6-8 hours for a response, which is a huge problem if you're trying to get a review corrected by a moderator who didn't know what they were doing. By the time you get a response, the review is often buried so deep that nobody will even see it, even if it had a chance of going viral.
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend? Honestly, some messages just get ignored. No explanation needed. My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend? By the way, most of the time, my reviews show up in the 'best' section after a message like this. But that's not really a big deal. They've already missed their chance to shine, and now you have to scroll through the feed to find them.Take my underappreciated review of The City of the Dead for example. I put a lot more heart and soul into that one than some of the ones that actually 'worked'.
5. External sources and the community.
This is the expected new section, since you can't find all the important info here. There are rules mentioned, but not a word about them! And I just want to stay in the loop.
I'm talking about the VK groups 'Подслушано' and 'ЯЖЕАВТОР'. Thanks to them, I learned how to get the maximum bonus (less than 20 reviews in a thread is key), and I also discovered what SGO is (the top review). But all good things come to an end.
I learned more than just the important info, though. I also got a glimpse into the community that's here (not all, not generalizing!). It's what you'd expect from a female-dominated group, but I thought we were all in this together, and it wouldn't be like that here. But nope. Every post is either anonymous trash talking or discussing someone's appearance, like poorly done makeup or a bad manicure. And they even add photos! It's just weird to me. We're all humans, and we all have flaws, but to say someone has a bad face or whatever? That's just gross. And I noticed that the haters are always the same people. They're experts in everything: cosmetics, medicine, tech, investments, and of course, they know what's best for you.
6. Product reviews.
I decided to add this section, even though I never saw myself as a product reviewer and wasn't really keen on it at first. For the first six months, I only wrote about products I'd purchased with my own money. I knew I could collaborate with companies, but I wasn't ready for it back then.
Fast forward to now, and I've received over 100,000 rubles' worth of review products in just six months (I'm writing this a year into my website journey). I've got a separate section for notes on my collaborations, so I've got some insight to share.
Surprisingly, getting started with product reviews wasn't as tough as I thought it'd be, considering I already had around 300 reviews under my belt. One of my first barter products was the Polaris wireless blender, which definitely piqued my interest in the topic. I started writing to brands I was interested in, proposing collaborations.
There's no one-size-fits-all rule for how a collaboration email should look, but I've settled on a formal, professional tone, complete with links to my profiles and a sample review to give them an idea of what to expect.
Of course, don't forget to introduce yourself.
I started by telling a brief story about myself, just one sentence, saying who I am – Vasiliy Pupkin – and that I write reviews on this website, with proper grammar, and explaining my collaboration conditions. Then, it's up to your imagination, whether you want to attach view statistics or not.
The letter shouldn't be too long, and people shouldn't have to read through it all.
The biggest question is, where to find the managers' contacts and how to know who's offering reviews?
The answers are simpler than they seem. If you see gray stars on this website, it means the brand provided the product to the author, so they're working on this scheme and you can offer your services. Another option is to write to the brands that interest you directly, without linking it to whether you've worked with them before or not. Who knows, maybe you'll be the first. And the third option is to see the ads anywhere, so you can take a chance and write to them, as the brand is investing in advertising. In any case, these options don't guarantee that they'll get back to you with a positive response, as each company has its own conditions and selection criteria.
7. My earnings.
Now we're getting to the good stuff.
I'll start with my first bonuses. I didn't know that in the 'animals' category you can't get many bonuses. On the other hand, reviews are regularly checked. Not huge numbers, but still. I take back what I said – you can't get 100 rubles, because there are restrictions, but 50 is definitely possible. Now I have my breadwinner – kitten food, which I definitely didn't expect.
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend?Later on, I found out about categories where you can get the maximum bonus, but the opposite happened: big bonuses, but no views.
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Is it possible to earn on IRecommend?I've been searching for that sweet spot where views are high and the bonus is nice, but I haven't found it yet. Now I have. It's a combo of beauty and health – and I'm loving it. I'm still getting the hang of writing here, but with time, I'll figure it out.
Looking at my stats over time, here's what I've got:
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Is it possible to earn on IRecommend? Two months in – or rather, half of two months – and I've got a decent chunk of cash coming in.
Breaking it down, most of my earnings have come from views, so I'd say I'm writing for the views rather than the bonus 😄.
The more reviews I post, the more I earn – it's a pretty straightforward relationship.
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Is it possible to earn on IRecommend? After two months, my overall stats look like this:
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend? Now, I know I had a dip in earnings, but things have leveled out, and I'm back to my usual $0.30 per view every day:
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend? After writing my first review, I thought it was going to be a cash cow, but nope. It looked promising for the first two days, but then it was just 5-6 views. I'm still surprised it's still on the first page and not buried somewhere. I didn't expect a bonus, given the number of reviews on this site, but I got 6.25 rubles, which was a nice surprise – I thought it would be just pennies.
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend?I've got a couple of what I call 'cash cows' – and here's how much they're bringing in compared to other reviews.
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend? My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend?I'm still surprised that I've been able to make money writing about topics like cartoons, movies, and cat food. I mean, I'm not exactly an expert in those areas.
8. Pros and cons.
I'll start with the good stuff:
They actually pay for your opinion. The search function is super convenient – now I always check other reviews before making a purchase. There's an option to receive products for review, but I've never actually done it. To be honest, I just get lazy and write reviews when I feel like it.They have a customer support team that's sometimes pretty responsive. Thanks to the top list, you always know what's currently trending. The cons are there, but they made me take off one star because I combined all of them into one reason:
Moderation! I was totally unprepared for how frustrating it would be. Half the time, they don't even read your review – they just glance at the photos and word count, and ignore the actual content.9. Updates.
Over the course of three months, my earnings have been steadily increasing – you can see that from the weird graph in my stats (April isn't over yet, so I'm not counting that):
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend?Let's get real – the more reviews you write, the more views you get. And I'm not just talking about the number of reviews you write in a month. I wrote fewer reviews in the second month than the first, and even fewer in the third month. I'm a firm believer that you need to get a certain number under your belt before the money starts rolling in. Here's how my stats looked for April:
The first few days were amazing, but then the weather warmed up and things started to slow down. I've heard from plenty of old-timers that this is what happens when the weather gets warmer. I definitely felt the slowdown, but my earnings are still in the black. If I made 3443 rubles in the second month, my total earnings have changed since then.
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend? So, all in all, I'm looking at a total of 5,000 rubles. I think that's a pretty solid start. And let's be real, I'm still getting by on my earnings ❤
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend? Now, over the next three months, I won't be giving any reports, and I'll only show up at my mid-year on the site. For myself, I'll leave here the goals I'd like to achieve by that time (of course, I'll share the results with you) :
To have 500 reviews on my account | I got a bit ahead of myself, I wrote only 324, so the goal remains until the end of the year on the siteTo earn 150 rubles a day | I'm not sure if I've achieved this goal. If I count with bonuses, then 150 a day often came out. If I talk about this amount in views, then no. The goal also remains until the end of the year.To get at least one product for a review | Done, I got cat food, twiceTo add a couple of income-generating products | I even added more
My earnings on the review site irecommend.ru. Can you really make money on IRecommend? In the end, I'm leaving only two goals: the number of reviews and the daily amount.
The amount I earned in half a year is almost 14 thousand! I increased it almost threefold over three months. I consider this a fantastic result.

★ A YEAR ON THE SITE.
I've had my last report for six months now, and in that time, I've managed to do a lot of interesting things. For example, I've increased my income by more than double and taken out over 30,000 rubles.
Getting into Google's feed and TOP has become second nature to me, but I wouldn't say it's always profitable. Lately, the feed hasn't been very kind to me and might bring in just 20 views, but then I get lucky and it's thousands. To be honest, I do have some reviews that bring in some small change without any promotion. Right now, my top three earners look like this:
Overall, 2023 has started off great, and the first month isn't even over yet, but it's already brought me 80,000 views, which is 4,000 rubles! I think that's a pretty decent showing, and the extra money won't go amiss. The best part is that I've got a significant saving on maintenance, cosmetics, and tech because I've started getting paid for reviews and product content, and I've already earned over 100,000 rubles from that alone.
I've finally reached my goal of 500 reviews, and I'm stoked to have completed the mission. However, with the new payout system, I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep up the daily grind of 150 reviews per day. This goal is still achievable within the next two years, though.
Thanks for making it to the end of my review – I hope you found it helpful!
