A Game-Changer for Small Purchases: My Honest Review of Dol
Hello everyone!
I've always been a bit skeptical about installment plans. I remember buying a polo shirt from Lamoda back in my student days, and I paid it off in installments. I don't even remember the name of the service, but I do recall getting hit with a massive interest rate of around 30-40%. That was a huge overpayment, and it put me off buying things on credit ever since.
At first, I was skeptical about paying for purchases through the Dol service too. But eventually, I decided to give it a try.
My purchases aren't exactly huge, so I figured it was just a way to motivate myself to work harder and pay off the debt early. It's like a game, right?
Last summer, I ordered some toiletries from an online store and decided it was time to give Dol a shot. My friend had been using it for ages and raving about it.
To pay, I downloaded the app, provided my phone number, and linked my card, which would automatically deduct payments if I didn't pay off the debt early. That's it – no need to provide any extra info or proof of income.
The app calculates your available limit, and I'm not sure if everyone gets the same amount or not. But for me, it's more than enough, since I don't spend that much.
You can also check your order history.
As you can see, my purchases are pretty small.
How does the payment schedule work?
You need to make payments every two weeks. The schedule is in the app, and it's super easy to understand. You can see the amount and the due date.
You can also pay off the debt early or make multiple payments at once, and there's no fee for early repayment. You can even pay off the debt on the next day if you want.
For example, on the graph below, you can see that I made payments #2 and #3 with a one-day gap.
I always try to pay myself a bit ahead of time.
Is there a fee for paying with Dol?
Yes, unfortunately, there is a fee. But it's not too big, and you can see it right away when you're placing your order.
Naturally, the fee was only 99 rubles when I paid through Riv Gosh.
When I ordered toilet water, the fee was a bit higher, but my purchase was also more substantial.
Anyway, everything is completely transparent. You'll know the fee amount right away when you're placing your order, and there are no hidden extra charges.
Where can I pay?
Dol is accepted at a ton of places – Detsky Mir, Lamoda, Zolotoe Yabloko, Riv Gosh... the list goes on. You can check the full list in the app under 'Cash Register.'
I've only had positive experiences with this service. Everything is transparent, simple, and easy to use. You can even pay off your balance early.
I know some people buy the product they want, pay with Dol, and then pay off the balance with the money they earn from other sites... that's a great motivator to write more!
I'd give it 4 stars, but I'd deduct one star for the fee. I've since switched to another partial payment service that doesn't charge any fees – it's been working out great so far.
I invite you to read my review about my experience earning money on the Yandex Tasks platform.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a great day!
