Editor's Summary
I gotta say, 'Stars in Siberia' is a total game changer for the comedy genre. The makers of this film took the suggestions of viewers who felt 'Stars in Africa' was too easy and turned up the heat in the Siberian wilderness. The result is a movie that's both laugh-out-loud funny and genuinely heartwarming. Not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical at first, but the cast's chemistry and the clever writing had me hooked from start to finish.
Specifications
My husband and I decided to spice up our evening by heading to the cinema to catch the new movie 'Stars in Siberia'.
After watching 'Stars in Africa', I read that many viewers complained that Africa wasn't as challenging as our own Siberia. I think the makers of this film took those viewers' suggestions on board, although I think a reality show in the taiga would've been way more interesting.

The first few minutes were a bit dull. Dasha, the girl who couldn't sing, and the club where she was 'auditioning' didn't exactly fill me with confidence that things would get interesting.
Stars in SiberiaBut to my surprise, when they started showcasing the stars of the showbiz world – Olga Buzova, Klava Kok, Dmitry Malikov, Sergey Svetlakov, Timur Batrutdinov, Dmitry Brekotkin – things started to come together to form a New Year's story, and all six stars shone brightly in their artistic abilities.
Stars in Siberia reviewsStars in SiberiaThe heroes, who were supposed to be heading to a New Year's corporate event, somehow ended up in a parallel reality, in a forgotten village called Nebarvhа in the taiga.Overall, the plot's not too predictable, it's a bit like 'Elki', but it still has its own 'twist'.
I enjoyed the acting performances from the professional actors and showbiz stars.
But Klava Kok wasn't as lucky – her storyline was a bit nonsensical. A half-paralyzed granny and a goat – it looked silly at times.
The dialogue in that storyline wasn't exactly interesting, although the message was right – cherish your relationships with loved ones and don't forget about them while conquering the city.
The movie Stars in Siberia
Stars in Siberia Stars in Siberia 2024The part of the movie that really stood out to me was the storyline with Timur Batrutdinov and the local healer. In my opinion, this was where the funniest moments and jokes were.
Stars in Siberia Stars in SiberiaOlya Buzova and her mom of four also had a relatable storyline.
Olya had to deal with a fear - the fear of motherhood and, in general, not being too fond of kids.
Stars in Siberia 2024 reviews Stars in SiberiaSergey Svetlakov and Dmitry Brekotkin tried to figure out their mutual grudges. This storyline was mostly filled with references to Ural Pelmeni.
Stars in SiberiaDmitry Malikov is usually seen in Ozon ads, and here they reminded him of his hands-grabbing skills. To my surprise, he did a great job in this movie, looking very natural and like he wasn't acting at all.
Stars in SiberiaOverall, I think Stars in Siberia is not bad, considering what our cinema often produces. This isn't a masterpiece, but it's a decent, light-hearted family comedy for the holidays.
The storyline was interesting for the most part, and there were some good, funny jokes.
Stars in Siberia Stars in Siberia
Stars in SiberiaI've got to say, the music in this movie was spot on. They took some classic tracks and tweaked them just enough to fit the Siberian setting. I mean, who wouldn't want to fall asleep under a Buzova lullaby?
My husband and I both loved 'Stars in Siberia'. It's the perfect movie to get you in the mood for the holidays.
There's something about the New Year's atmosphere in this film that just makes you feel like it's almost time to celebrate. If you're looking for a feel-good movie to get you in the right spirit, this is the one.
