Why Spotify Remains My Top Music Choice

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'll never forget the day Spotify launched in Russia, and I was hooked from the start. But when it left the country in 2022, I was left searching for a new music app. After trying a few others, I was surprised to find that nothing compared to Spotify's vast music library and personalized playlists. What really sets Spotify apart, though, is its commitment to supporting artists – I love knowing that my subscription is going directly to the people I'm listening to. With its huge library of music, podcasts, and shows, Spotify has become my go-to music choice. I've even discovered some amazing ASMR podcasts that help me relax and unwind. I've been using Spotify for years, and it's still my top pick for music streaming. The app is super easy to use, and the music selection is incredible. I've found so many new artists and songs to love, and the playlists are always spot on. Whether I'm working out, relaxing, or just need some background noise, Spotify has got me covered.

I'll never forget the day Spotify launched in Russia. I signed up on the spot, eager to try out this music service everyone was raving about. But then, on April 11th, 2022, Spotify left Russia, and I was left searching for a new music app. I tried a few others, but nothing seemed to hit the spot.
What keeps me coming back to Spotify is the fact that it's a legitimate way to listen to music. I feel like I'm supporting my favorite artists when I pay for their work – it's a big deal for me.
Spotify also has the largest music library out there. It's not just songs, but also podcasts and shows. I love listening to English podcasts, which really helps me improve my skills.
Spotify App
I was surprised to find a huge number of ASMR podcasts on Spotify – perfect for people with sleep issues.
Spotify App
Spotify's recommendation playlists are another major draw for me. Unlike Apple Music, which just doesn't cut it for me, Spotify's playlists are always spot on. I constantly listen to Spotify's playlists and add many to my own.
Spotify App
The app's UI is super intuitive and well-designed. I've tried Yandex Music, but it's a mess, and Apple Music is better, but still not great. I've tried all music apps, but Spotify remains my go-to, and I haven't found a better alternative yet!
Spotify App
If you're looking for a way to listen to Spotify for free and almost without limits in 2023, I've got a method that works for me. I still had Spotify on my phone after it left Russia, but I never deleted it. I even get updates, which is a nice surprise. To install it now on your phone, just Google it, and you'll find the instructions in the comments. But be careful – it's a bit of a risk.
I've tried out a bunch of different music apps, but none of them really clicked with me. I was determined to find a way to make Spotify work for me, so I started looking into how to use it from India. It's a bit of a workaround, but it's worth it.
First off, let's talk about payment. There are services that let you pay for a premium account the old way, but I'm wary of those and decided to stick with the free version. With the free version, there are restrictions, and they vary depending on your location – that's a big deal for us.
Spotify App
For example, if you're using the UK Spotify or any other developed country, you'll quickly realize that it's basically impossible with ads every three minutes, no song skipping, and no fast-forwarding, etc. After some trial and error, I found the perfect location – India! In Indian Spotify, there are barely any ads, I've only heard them a handful of times in a year, and they're in English, plus there are no restrictions except for needing an internet connection.
So, how do you set up your account? You need a VPN with India as the country, and I've found a few that work, albeit with some varying success – Psiphon. It sometimes stops working, but they seem to fix it with updates.
How to listen to Spotify for free and almost without restrictions in 2023?
In the list of countries, I choose India and connect. With the VPN turned on, I head to my Spotify account exactly through the browser on my phone! You can only change the region there. I choose India, log in to the app and my account, and it's all done with the VPN. For the sake of it, you can sit with the VPN on for a minute, then everything will work without it. The main thing is to log in with the Indian VPN at least for 5 minutes every two weeks. Although, from my experience, my account still logs out every few months, then I repeat the trick of changing the region in my account settings.
Now, I can listen to music, even that which is not available in Russia, and that's almost all the hits. For example, in Apple Music, they won't even show up. So, I don't miss out on new releases and don't fall behind global trends.
Spotify App
The only thing that happens because our region is India is that sometimes their local playlists show up, but I don't even notice that in my personal recommendations.
Simple and intuitive interface Huge music library, shows, and podcasts The music playlists are top-notch and tailored to your taste. If you're willing to go the extra mile, you can bypass the restrictions and listen for free.
Not available in Russia.
Verdict:
I hope my review is informative and helpful. For me, Spotify was a 5-star experience until it left Russia. Now it's a 4-star, and that's only because of a few minor inconveniences.
Feel free to ask any remaining questions in the comments below.
Keep listening to your favorite music, and thanks for your attention!
