The name literally translates to 'sand desert' from Chinese, which is a pretty fitting description, given the over 2km stretch of sandy coastline along the Japanese Sea. The entrance is free, and the beach is super picturesque - on one side, you've got the distant silhouette of hills on the horizon.

Looking out to sea, it's like an endless ocean stretching out to the horizon! The sea floor is just as sandy as the beach itself, with the depth gradually building up. The toilet was dirty, with a strong smell. Not all the cubicles lock properly. You have to buy toilet paper at the entrance. For me, these are all major drawbacks to the beach. But the sea is so beautiful that I'd put up with even these toilets!
