Selfielab Mattifying Primer

I've tried a bunch of primers, but this one from Selfielab really delivers. It helps smooth out my skin tone and keeps the shine under control, making it perfect for everyday use. The formula is unique and does a great job of creating a flawless base for makeup. I've been using it for a while now, and I'm really impressed with the value for money - it's a game-changer for my morning routine.

My Daughter Loved It, But I'm Still on the Fence - A Mixed Review of Selfielab's Mattifying Cream Primer

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently tried Selfielab's Mattifying Cream Primer from their Z and Alpha range, and I'm torn about whether it's worth the hype. My daughter loves the way it makes her skin look, but I'm still waiting to see some long-term benefits. The primer has a nice, lightweight texture that blends easily into the skin, and it doesn't feel greasy at all. However, I'm not convinced that it's doing enough to control shine and reduce the appearance of pores. I've been using it for a week now, and I can see some improvement, but I need to see more results before I can recommend it. One thing I do like is the value for money - it's a good price for the amount of product you get. Another plus is that it's easy to apply and doesn't leave any residue behind. I've also noticed that it's available at a number of different retailers, including WB, OZON, and Zolotoe Yabloko. Overall, it's a decent product, but I need to see more results before I can give it my full endorsement.

\nHello!
I'm wrapping up my review series on Selfielab's skincare line, and the last product I want to share my thoughts on is the Mattifying Cream Primer from their Z and Alpha range.

Now that I've used it for a while, I'm excited to share my findings.

Key Details:
Price: 400 rubles.
Where to Buy: WB, OZON, Zolotoe Yabloko. For more options, check out this link.
Volume: 50 ml.
Shelf Life: 36 months.

First Impressions:
The Z and Alpha range has a distinct design that sets it apart from other Selfielab lines. The packaging is bold, minimalist, and eye-catching, making it hard to ignore. The focus is clearly on style, which represents the age range this line was designed for. There's something unconventional and provocative about it.
The packaging of this cream is pretty standard and comes in a soft-plastic tube with a screw-top lid.
To protect against the first opening, there's a foil membrane on the nozzle.
You can find all the necessary information on the back of the packaging. Specifically, it lists the active ingredients, their effects, application recommendations, and a couple of suggestions for the finish.
No filters needed. This primer is like a Photoshopped finish, but even better. It sets a matte finish to oily shine, and the makeup stays smooth and long-lasting. Nothing gets in the way of your skin 'breathing' and staying happy even with makeup on.
\xa0
Organoleptics:
The cream is a white, uniform paste with a medium consistency.
I'd describe it as a moisturizing product, as it doesn't have any nourishing qualities, but it does feel lightweight.
This stuff is like a veil that floats onto your skin without any weight, but leaves a sticky residue behind. I'm guessing that's what they mean by the 'photoshop effect' without filters. I'll show you how it works with makeup in a bit. The scent of the cream is pleasant, with a subtle perfume-like fragrance that smells kind of fruity. \xa0
Photoshop effect cream primer:
I've got skin that's far from perfect, so when I'm applying makeup, I often use a base or foundation to cover up some of the imperfections.
They also help to distribute the color more evenly and achieve a smoother finish, which hides some of the flaws. \xa0
I usually apply the cream primer to clean skin, and sometimes I'll use a serum on top of it - at least it doesn't make things worse. The cream glides onto my skin nicely, just like it spreads evenly, but it doesn't absorb right away.
After applying it to my face, there's this weird film-like residue that gives my skin a slightly taut feel. Despite their claim of a matte finish, the result is actually a satin finish, and you can see that in the photos too.
Now, let's see how the primer performs under makeup. I used just a toner and powder, and while my skin tone did even out, it looked way too photoshopped. My pores were still visible, and all the other flaws were still there. I have to give credit where credit is due, though - the makeup did hold up pretty well, even with my combination skin that's prone to oiliness. The shine only started to appear a few hours in. My daughter, on the other hand, was way more impressed with the product. She's a member of Gen Z, and Selfielab just released a new line that's her age group. Her skin is young and smooth, with no wrinkles or deep pores, so the primer worked like a charm for her. She didn't even notice the film that I do, and her skin tone looked super even and smooth. It was almost like a 'photoshopped' effect, but I'm guessing that's just because her skin is so perfect. Still, I'm not sure if I'd recommend this product for everyone - it's definitely a hit or miss.
Age is a factor, and skin in your 17s will be way different from your 40s, so it's no surprise the results from using the same product will vary too.
\xa0
Value for money:
I have to admit, this primer vanished into my daughter's makeup bag at lightning speed. I'd say she's used it up in just a few weeks. Meanwhile, I've had my tube for a bit over a month, and it's already down to a quarter of its original size.
\xa0
Verdict:
After trying out Selfielab's products, I've found a few that I really like and use regularly – their peptide serum, for instance, and their biorevitalizing fluid. I also recently fell for their micellar water and eye patches. As for this primer, I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, it does a decent job of hydrating my skin and getting it ready for makeup. On the other hand, I'm not a fan of the sticky film it leaves behind, even after I apply my foundation. My daughter, on the other hand, loved it and would use it again. When she saw me writing this review, she said, 'Just write that it's great!' Sorry, I can't be that categorical, so I'll just say it's 'good,' but honest.
Thanks for reading!
