A Solid Option for Problem Skin, But Not Perfect

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm a huge fan of Round Lab's skincare products, but their Pine Calming Cica Cleanser didn't quite hit the mark for me. On one hand, it's a total game-changer for problem skin - it gently removes makeup and impurities without stripping your skin of its natural oils. On the other hand, the packaging is a bit confusing, with almost all the info on the front of the bottle in Korean. Still, I'd recommend this cleansing foam for its value for money and decent build quality. I've been using it for a week now, and it's been working pretty well for my problem skin. The buttons feel solid, and the battery (just kidding, it's a cleansing foam!) life is a non-issue. One thing I don't love is the 'best by' date on the cap - it's a bit hard to read. Overall, it's a solid option for problem skin, but not perfect. I'd say it's worth trying if you have similar skin concerns, but be aware of the potential irritations.

A Solid Option for Problem Skin, But Not Perfect
Hello there! I'm a huge fan of the Round Lab brand. Their products are always gentle on my skin, and I've tried a bunch of them. I'd heard of their other series, but when I stumbled upon this Pine Calming Cica Cleanser with pine and centella for problem skin, I knew I had to get it.
Today, I want to share my thoughts on this cleansing foam that's become a crucial part of my skincare routine.
Cleansing Foam by Round Lab Pine Calming Cica Cleanser with Pine and Centella for Problem Skin
This cleansing foam from Round Lab is a game-changer for anyone with problem skin. It gently removes makeup and impurities without stripping your skin of its natural oils.
The cleansing foam comes in a small, soft-plastic bottle that's opaque. I love the design - it's a girl relaxing on a hammock in a pine forest. Almost all the information on the front of the bottle is in Korean.
On the back, the information is in English. One thing that stood out to me was the 'best by' date on the cap. The product has a decent shelf life of 3 years, but once you open the bottle, the expiration date drops to just 12 months.
The dispenser was initially sealed with a metallic foil to prevent the first use. The dispenser itself has a small nozzle with a narrow opening in the middle.
The formula contains salicylic acid, which is known for its benefits in fighting breakouts. And the pine and centella extracts are also great at targeting acne, soothing the skin, and reducing irritation.
Composition:
I was surprised by how thick yet pliable the texture of this cleanser is when you take it out of the packet. It's dispensed with a thin strip, and I'm impressed by how the soft packaging helps you use every last bit of it.
The texture is creamy and has a pearlescent sheen to it, with a uniform consistency that's free from any lumps, streaks, or weird inclusions.
I thought the scent would be a lovely pine fragrance, but to be honest, it's not really there - unless you sniff really closely, in which case you might pick up on something slightly acidic. But after washing it off, the scent vanishes.
My skin is oily and prone to breakouts. Using this cleanser is a breeze - just give it a good mix in your hands to turn it into a rich lather, then apply it to your face and rinse it off with plenty of water.
The lather is super easy to whip up, and it's got a thick, creamy texture with teeny-tiny bubbles. It rinses off quickly with water, but at first, it feels like there's still a greasy film left on my skin. But when I wipe my face, the film disappears.
The cleanser does a great job of cleaning my skin, almost to the point where it feels squeaky clean. It gets rid of excess oil and reduces the appearance of pores, leaving my skin looking smoother.
However, it's not harsh, but I found it to be a bit too stripping for my liking. After washing my face, I don't feel super tight or dry, but my skin does feel slightly uncomfortable. It's like it's begging for a moisturizer.
So, it's essential to follow up with a good moisturizer to keep my skin hydrated. This cleanser is designed to tackle acne, but I didn't notice any significant positive or negative effects on my skin. I didn't see any new breakouts, and the ones I already had didn't get worse. That's a personal thing, but it's worth mentioning.
Pros and Cons
Pros:Nice, neutral scent.Does a great job of cleaning my skin.Cons:It can be a bit drying.Personally, I prefer milder cleansers for my skin. If you're looking for a gentle face wash, you might want to consider some of the other options I've reviewed.
