I recently tried Profiru, a platform that's like a dating site for clients and professionals. With over 2.3 million experts offering 900 different services, it's no wonder why Profiru has become so popular. I was impressed by the vast database of professionals, including tutors, psychologists, and even mock interviewers. However, I did notice some exceptions, like the lack of doctors and nannies on the platform. While it's not perfect, I think Profiru is a great resource for finding professionals, especially when you know what to expect. Hello!
I wanted to share my honest experience with Profiru, a platform that connects clients with professionals. I'll give you the lowdown and some tips.
Remember when my parents would look for professionals in the newspaper? Those days are long gone, and now you can find experts online. Profiru is one of the most popular services out there, with over 2.3 million professionals offering 900 different services.
Profiru is a platform that brings clients and professionals together.
Whether you need a tutor, a driving instructor, a plumber, or a hairdresser, Profiru has got you covered.
Profiru has an impressive database of professionals, including tutors, psychologists, plumbers, stylists, designers, lawyers, housekeepers, couriers, and even mock interviewers.
However, there are some exceptions. You won't find doctors or nannies on Profiru.
Possibly, this isn't the only exception.
I've only used Profiru as a client, and I'll share my experience from that perspective.
My first experience with Profiru was back in 2018. I was studying for my driver's license, but my instructor was pretty unhelpful. I decided to find a new instructor, and that's how I ended up on Profiru.
I created an order. Let me walk you through how it works.
The registration process on the website is straightforward, and creating an order is easy. You can't really search for a professional without creating an order first.
Creating an order is pretty simple. You just need to enter the type of professional you're looking for and answer a few questions, depending on the service you need.
When searching for a driving instructor, for example, you'll be asked questions like: what type of transmission you need, whose car you want to use, what your goals are, and whether you have a valid driver's license.
Tips: Don't ignore the comment field! Be as detailed as possible in your comment, and it will help you find the right professional.
For instance, instead of "I'm looking for a driving instructor," say "I'm looking for a driving instructor to help me recover my driving skills, I have a valid driver's license, my car is available, and I have 5 years of driving experience."
Once you place your order, it's like being on a dating site - Tinder. You get messages from specialists offering their services.
You write to the specialists from the Profi list, offering your order.
When there's a match, the specialist sees your phone number, and you see theirs, and you're already making plans to meet.
For other performers, the order becomes unavailable.
Each specialist has a profile. You can read their story, see what services they offer, check out their prices, read reviews, and understand how well you match.
In this sense, [link] makes it easy to communicate with the performer.
My experience with Profiru started with a driving instructor. I found instructor A, who seemed to be a perfect match, and he was willing to fulfill my request.
But over the phone, I was contacted by someone named O. Turned out that instructor A had a whole team working under his name. And if I wanted to take lessons from A, not O?
But I took a chance, and overall, I liked the instructor. And I even passed my driving test without any issues.
This is one of the downsides of Profi. What's on the box, like in the classic Eralash - not always in the box. What you get instead of one person is another, and then new conditions and prices come up, basically not what's in the profile.
No one is accountable for this!
We don't provide services, we help specialists and clients meet. For us, it's essential that the service we create is reliable and safe.
Yes, Profi checks passports and other documents, asks you to sign a contract, and informs them about any complex situations.
But in practice, no one is accountable for the quality and outcome! And throwing money away is just normal.
Most specialists provide services unofficially. In the best case, without contracts, and in the worst - they only accept cash. I've only found one self-employed specialist who gave me an invoice, and that was not through Profi.
This just goes to show that you're the most vulnerable link here.
I have to admit, I'm getting ahead of myself here. So, after getting my driver's license, I completely forgot about this platform for about 4 years.
I started looking for a logopedist for my daughter in 2021, and through this platform, I tried to find one three times.
I had specific requests, and I was willing to pay fairly for it and adapt to the specialist's schedule. In reality, my daughter had three logopedists through this platform.
1 ¡ A completely irresponsible specialist, who constantly asked for prepayment, complained about her difficult financial situation, yet as a logopedist, she was terrible, and her office looked like it belonged on a junkyard (and she called it "sensory integration").
She was also disorganized, often fell asleep or showed up late for sessions, and her cat was always having kittens, or her mother-in-law had sold their summer house, and sessions were canceled.
Luckily, we left.
This is the office of one of those logopedistsTips: No prepayments!
2 ¡ The second logopedist - a soft-spoken woman with little experience, who simply realized she couldn't handle it and backed out herself.
3 ¡ The third logopedist - an inexperienced student. No need to comment.
I didn't want to look for any more logopedists on this platform. I didn't like it when many specialists would set pretty tight schedules, like they could only take us on Thursdays at 9 am and Mondays at 3 pm, and after two cancellations, they'd stop working with us.
I found my own specialist later on another platform, which I'll talk about in more detail below.
I moved to a new neighborhood, and of course, I started looking for a nail artist. A woman immediately responded, and we collaborated for over a year - she did a great job quickly, and the price was reasonable.
But then she got a bad case of "starstruck syndrome…"Usually, this happens to specialists with one social media account, but there are some on this platform too.
Outrageous prices and "starstruck syndrome". I understand that specialists on this platform are paid, and that's likely factored into their service prices, but sometimes it gets out of hand.
I'm the type of person who's willing to pay for quality, and I hate the phrase "oh, it's so expensive". But a manicure for 8,000 rubles, driving lessons for 10,000 rubles, and an hour with a logopedist for 6,000 rubles is way too expensive!
And these people aren't teaching Schumacher how to drive and aren't doing Jolie's manicures - they're just average specialists.
And of course, those with "starstruck syndrome" usually start setting ridiculous rules. In their descriptions, they claim to only work on a prepayment basis, and if you cancel a booking three days in advance, they get to keep it. You can only reschedule sessions twice a month, and if they catch you looking at them funny, they reserve the right to kick you out (naturally, without returning the prepayment).
I'm writing this as a necessary experience. I always arrive a bit early and wait anxiously under the door, willing to pay for part of the lesson if I'm late, listen to the specialist, and follow everything they say.
And this situation might not be common, but it's happened to me on Profi. It was exactly what happened with my nail technician - they started setting specific windows for each regular client, prepayment without a refund in case of anything, triple confirmation that you'd come for a nail appointment.
Avoid overly arrogant specialists. If it's a decent professional, don't waste your time on someone who's already looking down on you. You vote with your wallet - remember that.
It's not my luck in love, but in death.
I decided to find a driving instructor this time, not just any, but a gold one, for restoring my driving skills.
After filtering out those who charged 15,000 for a lesson, promised to teach driving from scratch in three sessions, and had a 'busy schedule with a December intake', I chose what seemed like a good option.
This was an instructor with 40 years of experience, some certifications, and a marking system for beginners.
And we went for 25 lessons with him. Why so many?
It's because he mostly drove me around the same route for most lessons, saying I needed to 'become more confident.' In reality, it was just an attempt to rip me off.
Tips: If you see a specialist stuck in place or not doing what you want, change.
My experience with [link].
I'm glad I was able to find my specialists, specifically:
1 ¡ The world's best speech therapist for my daughter, who helped her start speaking. We're still working together.
2 ¡ A great psychologist working in private practice. He's a great specialist who helped me break free from emotional dependence and go through the divorce.
By the way, she's self-employed - I pay her via card, and she sends me a check. She's the only official specialist I've found.
And this service... AVITO!
Not a surprise?
Yes, you can't just sell a fur coat and buy a bike there. You can find specialists offering various services, and there are just as many as on Profi.
Yes, they check documents there too. But there's no excessive star disease among the performers, prices are more affordable, there are reviews, and Avito's support is always on the lookout. Plus, many specialists offer free or trial sessions. I didn't notice that on Profi.
And, of course, there's a chance of poor service quality, but personally, I was luckier with Avito than with Profi.
I wouldn't recommend Profi. I've been searching for reliable professionals multiple times, and unfortunately, it's been a disappointing experience each time. I've been lucky enough not to encounter any scammers or unprofessional individuals and lose a significant amount of money.
From what I've gathered, many Profi specialists also aren't a fan of the paid responses and high commissions.
So, Profi feels like a dating platform to me – plenty of options, but little actual value. And even if you do find a match, there's no guarantee that this 'soul mate' won't turn out to be an abuser.
I get that my issues are more with the professionals themselves than with the Profi platform, but at the same time, the website is quite pricey, which drives up the costs for the users. And in some cases, Profi seems to be passing the buck and avoiding responsibility.
That being said, the platform does have its value – it's a massive database of professionals, and you won't find that anywhere else.
