My Disappointing Experience with PetHouse Sili-Gel Cat Litter

summarizeEditor's Summary

I thought PetHouse Sili-Gel cat litter was a game-changer, but my experience was a total letdown. I bought it for my two cats, thinking it'd be a great option since it's hypoallergenic and dust-free. But the dust from the packaging was a nightmare, and it didn't even help prevent respiratory issues in my younger cat. I'm sharing my honest review to save you from the same disappointment, and I'm warning you: it's not worth the hassle.

I'm sharing my disappointing experience with the Sili-Gel cat litter from PetHouse, which I bought on Wildberries. I thought it was a great option, being hypoallergenic and dust-free, but boy was I wrong.
The white dust from the packaging after pouring it in - it's a whole lot more than just a little bit! We have two cats: our elder is 9 years old, and the younger one is a bit over a year old. Our younger cat got sick, and the vet diagnosed broncho-pneumonia. One of the possible causes was the old cat litter, which was made of wood. Our younger cat would often linger and play around in the litter box where our elder cat used to go, and I guess that's why she got sick again.
If you look closely, the litter on the left is murky - that's the dust, and it's a huge problem.Anyway, the vet recommended switching to Sili-Gel litter because it's considered hypoallergenic and doesn't produce dust. I thought that sounded great, but as it turned out, even Sili-Gel litter can be problematic if made from low-quality materials.
The dust on my hand - it's not just a little bit, it's a whole mess.I bought the PetHouse Sili-Gel litter from The Home on Wildberries, and the reviews were great, plus the price was attractive. But I should have paid closer attention to the seller's reviews - they had a few complaints about the quality of the litter.
I brought it home from the cold and poured it in, and at first, nothing seemed out of the ordinary - although I did cough a bit, but I just thought it was my cold going around.
For three days, our cat used the litter box, and her treatment was ongoing, with some improvement on the X-ray. The vet told us to keep giving her one medication.
But on the fourth day, after she used the litter box, she started coughing again! I got worried and decided to check the litter. I was shocked to find that it was producing a lot of dust, and when I touched it, my hand started itching pretty badly.
You can see the white dust from the packaging in the photo - that's me pouring it back in, and it's a whole lot more than just a little bit.
The other photo shows the dust, which isn't perfectly visible, but trust me, there's a ton of it. And our poor cat is breathing that in every time she uses the litter box.
You can also see the dust on my hand - it's not just a little bit, it's a whole mess.
In our case, the reaction happened quickly, on the fourth day, because our cat was already weakened from the sickness. But based on our experience, the reaction could be delayed: with the old wood litter, our cat started showing problems only after a couple of months.
Two days have passed since we removed the litter, and our cat isn't coughing anymore. That's a big relief, but it's also a reminder that some things just aren't worth the risk.
I'm really disappointed in the seller's customer support - it's not what I expect from a reputable company.
