Persil Duo-Caps: A Wash That's More Sticky Than Clean

summarizeEditor's Summary

I was stoked to try Persil Duo-Caps, but after a week of using them, I'm left feeling underwhelmed. This laundry capsule promised to leave my clothes cleaner and brighter, but it didn't quite live up to the hype. When it comes to washing colored and white items made of synthetic fibers or linen, you've got a few options - solid powder, detergent gel, or laundry capsules. But what sets Persil Duo-Caps apart from the rest? I thought it was worth a shot, but the cleaning power is lacking, and some stains just won't budge. The price is competitive, ranging from 250-400 rubles for 14-15 capsules, but it's a bit steep considering the performance. I'm not sure if it's worth the investment, considering the options available in the market.

You know the drill - trying out a new laundry capsule that promises to leave your clothes cleaner and brighter than ever. But what happens when it doesn't quite live up to the hype?
I've been using laundry capsules for years, and I was excited to give Persil Duo-Caps a try. But after a week of using them, I'm left feeling underwhelmed.
When it comes to washing colored and white items made of synthetic fibers or linen, you've got a few options: solid powder, detergent gel, or laundry capsules. And let's be real, laundry capsules usually contain a bunch of stuff - concentrated gel, stain remover, phosphates, aroma enhancers, enzymes, phosphonates, optical bleach, and conditioner.
Brand: Persil
Where to buy: Your local store
Price: 250-400 rubles for 14-15 capsules
The storage container is a plastic container with a recessed top and a gradual taper towards the bottom. It's secured by clicking the lid at the blue part.
The lid has usage instructions for the capsules.
One thing I like about the packaging is that it's compact and durable, made from a single material - plastic. It saves a lot of space, which is always a plus.
Appearance: The soft capsules are made of two parts and come in different colors. They're soft and flexible, but sturdy enough to withstand finger pressure and a fall from a height.
The capsules have a semi-transparent consistency without any cloudiness or specks.
Smell: Let me tell you, it's a stinker! I've never been a fan of fabric conditioners because they have an overpowering scent that knocks me off my feet. In this case, it's a pungent chemical smell that's cloying. It doesn't dissipate from clothes within a day, so it's best to hang them outside or in a well-ventilated area to avoid suffocation.
The biggest downside of this product is that it leaves behind residue on clothes.
I've learned through trial and error that the maximum number of items you can use it on are coats, provided the fabric is not polyester, but cotton, flannel, or something that can be machine washed.
I washed it with bed sheets - the residue flaked off the surfaceI encountered a problem for the first time when washing all shades of red from adult clothing: robes, shirts, and the like. As I started hanging up the clothes, I found this lovely surprise...But it only comes off in large quantities, and the fine details are left behind, so I have to re-wash them all over again.Stain removal: The minimum - it didn't even attempt to remove the smell from underarms, and the chemical smell was joined by sweat and antiperspirant.
It might remove some surface stains, but it's not a deep clean, so it's hard to say anything about the quality of the stain remover in this product.
Color preservation: After washing with this two-phase product, clothes didn't fade, which is one of the few positives.
Convenience of the format: Let's be real - using a high-concentrate liquid formula that includes a powerful stain remover for tough stains and special components to preserve colors is the way to go.
Packaging: The plastic container does a great job of keeping the stuff inside, and while mischievous kids might be able to open anything, this container is secure. Of course, it's not foolproof: when I gave it to my niece to store her toys, she managed to open it easily.
Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature not exceeding 35 degrees C and relative humidity not exceeding 95%.
Usage: I tried using the capsule in both an empty drum and amidst dirty laundry - the results were the same.
Apparently, one capsule is enough for moderately soiled clothes, and two for heavily stained ones. But I only used one capsule for my car, and it didn't quite cut it. Two capsules would've been a stretch too.
Usage Time: The manufacturer recommends at least 40 minutes of wash cycle time for complete dissolution of the active ingredients.
I had a 1.5-hour wash cycle, but there were still some residue left behind.
Wash Type: Persil Duo-caps are only suitable for machine washing. They're not designed for hand washing.
The verdict: a weak-performing product with an overpowering scent that leaves behind not just stains, but also some unwanted residue. Not recommended.
