Ozon Travel: A Recipe for Disaster
Be prepared for glitches, excuses, and a whole lot of fluff in the form of bonus miles and points that are basically worthless.
You'll be treated like a second-class citizen, too - they'll take your money and then try to make it harder for you to get your refund.

My whole family is deeply invested in Ozon, so we were surprised to find that Ozon Travel is a nightmare to deal with.
Even something as simple as buying plane tickets becomes a nerve-wracking experience.
Two trips in two months, two disasters
That's a 100% failure rate for Ozon Travel - and I'm not exaggerating.

There's no support to speak of. You have to pay extra for support, which is basically a joke.

The chat operators will come up with a new excuse on the spot (if they can think of one).
After trying every excuse in the book, they'll finally start to listen to you - but only after you've been persistent for at least an hour.
Take screenshots of every step and every message you receive, because you never know when you'll need them.

For example, in February 2025, we paid for a flight with checked luggage, but the email confirmation we received had no luggage included!
The flight was the next day!
I was lucky I even noticed the discrepancy, despite our family's frequent flying routine.
It's a good thing I did, or we might have ended up with a nasty surprise at the check-in counter.
Thanks to those screenshots, they finally refunded our money and cancelled the flight.
I tried to check in a bag, but it didn't work out - apparently, the customer is to blame for not noticing the baggage fee, so they'd have to pay for it at the airport.
By the way,
the airline was Pobeda, a low-cost carrier notorious for finding ways to charge passengers extra for every little thing.
Their baggage policy is particularly draconian - even a standard laptop won't fit in the carry-on allowance!

So, with the ticket booked through Ozon Travel, I wouldn't have noticed any discrepancies, and 'Smyslovye Gallyutsinatsii' would have kicked in:
Everything's fine, everything's normal I'm taking my baggage with me I'm taking my baggage with me Into the depths of despair...

And the next day, I would have had a heart attack at the check-in counter because the baggage fee wasn't paid for in the ticket!
Airline's response to my complaint boiled down to
'nothing to worry about, it happens sometimes, we apologize, the airline didn't confirm it, and we'll refund you in 3 days'. Sorry, but that's not good enough.

if an airline doesn't confirm something, you shouldn't send the customer a ticket with altered conditions without saying a word!
We received the ticket in its standard form, without any comments, and then it was up to our own vigilance to spot the issue.
We had less than a day before the flight!
Instead of packing for the trip, I was arguing and searching for alternative flights.
As compensation, I got a 'sorry, we feel bad' and 'we'll add some miles to your account'.

Ozon Travel's miles shouldn't lure potential customers in:
giving miles is not the same as using them.
Ozon miles are scraps of benefits, as they can only be used to pay for 2-10% of the air ticket's cost,
I've been using various flight aggregators for years, but I don't have a go-to platform for buying tickets. I consider myself a pretty experienced user with a lot of 'mileage' under my belt.
However, the focus on miles that Ozon Travel offers is mind-boggling.

My second attempt took place in April 2025 (since March, flight prices have skyrocketed, but I'm skilled at catching good deals – years of practical experience),

and Aeroflot suddenly drops a lucky batch of tickets for our route, which immediately appear on all aggregators, including Ozon Travel.
I gave it a second chance and placed an order.
The payment went through at 10 PM, and I immediately got a flurry of notifications from Ozon, followed by an email with a string of messages:
thank you for your order,
we've received payment,
wait for processing and you'll receive your electronic ticket.
I went to bed at 2 AM, and the tickets for the same flight were still available on all aggregators at the same price, but the electronic ticket from Ozon didn't arrive after four hours of waiting.
I really wanted to sleep.
At 4 AM, my phone started ringing:
your order has been cancelled,
the tickets have been cancelled,
we'll refund your money.
And so on.

In the chat support, there was a woman named Alexandra who refused to give me her operator's phone number for identification,

After 30,000 nerves, they compensated me with 3 rubles.
I got bombarded with a bunch of excuses from OZON Travel, including:
- probably a technical glitch,
- maybe the payment didn't go through,
- contact your bank (I paid with my OZON bank card and the money was deducted immediately),
- sorry, but the airline ran out of tickets,
- while you were paying, the chosen tariff expired.
All this nonsense can go on forever, but I didn't even bother to screenshot it, and that's my mistake,
but my email inbox on the website had all the emails from OZON Travel, complete with timestamps!
And while I was waiting for Alexander to change the tape:
the payment went through at 22:00,
the money was deducted,
the order was confirmed, waiting for the ticket,
have a safe trip
and so on,
it took clever Alexander 5 hours to change the tape!
I have one question:
why did you wait 5 hours to confirm the payment after deducting the money from my card?
If all other aggregators can send the electronic ticket within 15 minutes!
I had plenty of time to waste and many opportunities to buy a ticket on other platforms!
As it turns out, we just got unlucky (again) and our ticket ended up on some manual list:
In short,
no matter where you look, it's always 'we're really sorry', 'it happens sometimes', 'technical glitch', 'human error', 'contact your bank and internet provider / the President / the Pope' -
So, you won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Period.
