Hello everyone!
We've got two furballs at home, and they're basically outdoor dogs. They've got a kennel, a hut, and they're free to roam around the yard. But even in winter, we don't leave them unprotected from insects - you never know, it might be a mild winter, and the ticks will be active even at slightly positive temperatures. That's when we use these special flea and tick collars for the second year now.
Full name: NEOTERICA PROTECTO 12 Flea and Tick Collar
This is the pack for larger dogs. I've got two dogs, a German Shepherd and a mixed breed, weighing around 33 and 35 kg, and the pet store staff recommended this pack for us.There are two collars in the pack.
This pack turned out to be really good value for us, since it comes with two collars, each designed to last for six months.
By spring, regardless of whether the collars are still within their service life, we'll remove them and switch to pills. After our little one got bitten by a tick a few years ago, we've been trying to minimize our exposure.
Packaging appearance:
The packaging is great - not just the looks and the seal. The bottle has all the essential information clearly printed on it, including the dog's size and weight, the duration of protection, and the types of insects it protects against.
The information is duplicated around the perimeter of the bottle, and even on the bottom. The application instructions are also included, complete with pictures. It's super easy to understand! The lid is sealed with a sticky tape, and everything is secure.
Inside the package, each collar is individually wrapped in a separate bag. The bag has all the necessary information, including length, composition, and expiration date. The metal container is quite sturdy – my husband actually used it to store something in his garage!
We also received a detailed instruction manual for the product. Appearance of the collars: The collars are grey in color, coiled in a spiral shape, and secured with special 'posts'. We were told to simply uncoil the collar, but let's be honest – these plugs can be a bit tricky to remove.
I found it easier to cut them off gradually, so the remaining 'spikes' are minimized and won't irritate the animal's skin. The length of the collars is 75 cm – quite long, which means we have to cut off a lot of excess. The collar is put on the animal, adjusted to size (1-1.5 cm gap), and excess strap is cut off.
What it protects against:
These collars are a lifesaver when it comes to protecting your pets from fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. I've been really impressed with how well they work against fleas - we've never had a single flea issue with our dogs since we started using these collars.
The Neotera Protex 12 collar is designed for both cats and dogs to prevent and treat arachnoidosis caused by fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes, as well as protect animals from biting flies and prevent transmissible diseases (babesiosis, borreliosis, and dirofilariasis).
What really caught my attention was the information on the website about mosquitoes: Continuous use of the collar provides protection against blood-sucking flies - up to 5 days.
So, we don't really worry about mosquitoes with these collars.
Usage:
Last year, our dogs wore these collars for around 4 months, from when the snow melted to when it started to get warm again. Both dogs were fine, with no negative side effects.
The only downside is that each collar is a bit bulky, but luckily they don't interfere with each other or the dogs themselves.
Overall Impression:I'm not sure if we really need flea and tick prevention in the winter, but these collars are a great option to have on hand just in case. I wouldn't rely on them exclusively in the summer, though - our dogs are essentially outdoor dogs. If they were more indoor-oriented, I might consider it.
It's convenient that the package comes with two collars that securely attach to the dog's neck. We don't overtighten them, making sure to leave a 1.5 cm gap as per the instructions - the dogs don't seem to mind. Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
I've gotta say, the customer support from BestBuy has been top-notch. I reached out to them after I noticed a small issue with my SmartHome Hub, and they got back to me within a few hours. The rep I spoke with was super helpful and even walked me through some troubleshooting steps to get everything up and running smoothly. I was really impressed with how easy it was to get in touch with someone and how quickly they were able to resolve my issue. The return process was also a breeze - I just printed out the return label, dropped off the package at the post office, and that was it. No hassle at all. I'd definitely recommend BestBuy to anyone looking for a hassle-free shopping experience.
