It's like they took all the excitement out of the original series and just phoned it in. The plane ride to the beach was a total letdown, and I just couldn't get into it. My kid, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy it, but I'm not sure what he liked about it.There's just not a lot of detail in the background - the plane looks empty, the hotel looks empty, and there are hardly any other characters. It's like they didn't even try to make it interesting.
With all the different types of content out there, I thought it would be harder to surprise young viewers. But I guess that's just not the case here.
So, there's the cat family on the beach. They're here to relax, but my kid is always looking for something more and getting bored. It's weird, because there are three of them, and the parents are usually on their wavelength. Maybe the point is that they need friends - that with friends, they'd have more fun and be happier.
And then there's the cat family, who find an unexpected friend in a place where you'd think it's impossible. I thought it would be more exciting, but these episodes were pretty dull and sometimes ridiculous. I'm not sure if the show is just as bad, but I thought it would be more fun.
The episodes are way shorter, too. Maybe it's the format's fault, but I'm not convinced. It's just not the same here.
Dad usually comes up with something funny, but this time he was just... there. Even here, it's clear that the image is lacking. They slapped it together quickly and that's it. At least they could've added a cat, who's always trying to... you know, mess up the balcony.
Mum's usually the one who comes up with creative solutions, but here she's just... flat. Like the whole situation. It's all so dull and boring.
They tried to add some suspense, and I'll give them credit - the kid was surprised by the ending. But that's not a plus for the creators - they just don't know the first thing about detective stories.
And they can't even think ahead. They take everything at face value and it's all just so... basic. Even that word's too strong for this... thing.
The only redeeming quality is the funny cat game they played. The kitties were writing their own little poems. I love that kind of thing - it's just like something I used to do as a kid. It's a nice little moment, but that's about it.
So, there's a good storyline, a positive vibe. But how many of those have we seen before... And, of course, there were some interesting moments about crabs. Yeah, those were just fleeting, but I guess that's what I should have expected. After all, Comot's a curious guy and always carries books around. He loves to teach his younger siblings and me about all sorts of things..
And then there were the names of the other participants in this adventure. I'm too afraid to even imagine how the creators came up with them. And why they didn't change them later when the characters developed?But what's the point...
Is it about vegetarianism? The little kittens are trying to tell everyone that all living creatures should be treated the same way?
You can't eat anyone.
You have to be friends with them, love them, play with them, take care of them. Well, I'm not so sure about the taking care of part... I mean, some of the things Korzhik, Karamellka, and Comot did to the other main characters didn't seem very comfortable or safe for them. At one point, I thought it was a bit harsh. I mean, that kind of treatment. But, I guess the main point is not to eat them. Not to boil or fry them. Everything else is humane and nice, right?

So, in the end, I was bored, yawning, and confused. But the kid, I mean, he was watching it, and he seemed to be enjoying it. I have no idea what he found so captivating. Maybe it's been a while since he's seen kittens, and he just needed a dose of cuteness?
But, to be honest, I was expecting more.
I thought I'd like it too, since I've watched many of the series a million times and always reacted positively.
But, this time...
No, I don't want to watch it again. If the kid asks to watch it, that's when I'll let him, when I'm not around the house...)
It's possible I'm just being picky, but I have to say, the animation didn't quite live up to my expectations. And that's a shame, because I was really hoping for more.
