Luckily, I was able to figure it out intuitively by looking at the pictures. The package included two spools, a spare needle, a thread-winding tool, and a spool extension. The machine came with a spool and a white thread, and there was also a spare spool and a second spool with a white thread.
I was surprised to find that this mini sewing machine runs on just 4 AA batteries - unfortunately, they're not included in the package.
I ended up buying some decent, if pricey, batteries to get started.
The machine itself is a combination of white plastic and metal - it's definitely a bit heavy, so don't expect to be sewing on the go.
