Specifications
Hello, amazing readers!
On October 30th, the highly anticipated film 'Major in Dubai' hit theaters.
So, let's start from the beginning.
I have to tell you, I didn't watch the original series 'Major' when it came out in December 2014, starring Pavel Priluchny.
I completely missed it, and I'm not even sure what it was about, but I've heard it got great ratings, and that's why they made a full-length film called Major in Sochi, which premiered in 2022.
I finally got around to watching it in 2025, and I'm so glad I did.
You can check out my review of Major in Sochi here.
I stumbled upon this film by chance while flying from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Moscow, and I was completely hooked.
I was so into it that I went back to Kamchatka and watched it again with my husband.
He loved it too, so we were both super excited to see Major in Dubai in theaters.
This review is 100% honest – I watched the whole thing from start to finish!
For authenticity, I've included a photo of my movie ticket.
The film's runtime is almost two hours – 1 hour and 56 minutes, to be exact.
Time flew by, and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
This movie is action-packed, fast-paced, and there's no way you'll get bored.
Whether it's Major in Sochi or Major in Dubai, this film is one you can watch in one sitting!
The film's genre is:
ActionAdventureComedy
It's primarily an action film, with plenty of intense fight scenes, weapons, and dramatic plot twists.
You'll see epic battles on the ring, high-speed chases, and more – it's a wild ride!
Adventure? Absolutely! I mean, you can bet your bottom dollar there's going to be plenty of it in this movie.
Trust me, there's going to be more than enough adventure to go around.
Comedy?
I'd say it's a solid third on my list, and here's why.
There are definitely some laughs to be had, and humor's essential for breaking the tension, but for me, it's not quite a full-fledged comedy. I mean, at the end of the day, the action genre takes the top spot.
Actors.
I've got to give it up for the entire cast – each and every one of them delivered a solid performance.
It was especially great to see some familiar faces from the first movie, Major in Sochi. I'm talking about Igor Salkovskiy (played by Pavel Priluchny), Ivan Salkovskiy (played by Pavel Chinaryov), and Vera (played by Elizaveta Shakira).
Too bad Vera's daughter, Sonia (played by Vitaliy Kornienko's daughter), wasn't in this one. I mean, she's Igor and Vanya's daughter, and Vanya's adopted daughter, too. Maybe she was too busy filming those new New Papiny Dochki movies (she's playing the daughter in them) – the premiere's actually happening around the same time as this movie.
Plot.
Vanya's still got a thing for Vera, the kind and caring girl he met in the previous movie.
My buddy Ivan decided to tie the knot! Some people want to go all out with a big wedding, while others are happy with a low-key registry at the ZAGS office. Ivan's definitely the former, which is why he flew to Dubai to save up for the wedding of his dreams.
Ivan's got a pretty interesting way of making money, if you ask me! Cryptocurrency's all the rage these days, and Ivan's not one to miss a trend. He's created his own cryptocurrency, dubbed WilcoiN. Next thing you know, it's like the 90s all over again! But Ivan's got some serious problems on his hands. He needs help, and fast!
Who's going to come to his rescue? None other than his old buddy Igor Sokolsky, of course!
Oh, man, Igor's a real go-getter! I've got to give it to him, though - Pavel Priluchny's got some serious acting chops. The guy's a total charmer! Igor's not afraid to take risks, either. He's willing to put his own life on the line to help out his buddy. No surprise, then, that he's flying to Dubai to sort out Ivan's problems.
From here on out, things start to get really interesting. The plot thickens, and we get to see the whole story unfold in all its glory.
I'm still reeling from the movie experience, to be honest. It was like riding rollercoasters - my emotions were all over the place!
I was completely invested in the film, living through the characters' situations and feeling their anxiety. I was so on edge that I even bit my nail!
Braavo! The movie is a masterpiece that left me breathless. I'm completely blown away.
My husband and I both loved the movie.
Romance
Kudos to the filmmakers for adding a touch of romance to this otherwise intense action movie. Igor Sokoovsky, the protagonist, meets a girl named Rita, and it's a lovely moment in the film.
I was genuinely pleased to see a natural, effortless beauty in this movie - no overdone makeup or plastic surgery. If I'd seen a typical Hollywood-perfect beauty, I would've been thoroughly disappointed...
Dubai
I'm absolutely in love with the UAE! I've been to Dubai twice and Abu Dhabi once. The movie brought back nostalgic feelings, and I fell in love with the Dubai locations all over again. The film's visuals are stunning, and the choice of locations is spot on. The entire crew did an amazing job! Age restrictions for the movie: 16+I have to agree with these restrictions, kids shouldn't be exposed to all that violence.
Who I wouldn't recommend the movie to in Dubai?
People who don't like shootouts, chases, blood... basically, action movies.
I'm not a huge fan of action movies myself, but I ended up watching the first part of Majoor, so I thought I'd give the second one a try.
I'm glad I did.
The movie's soundtrack
I really enjoyed the music in the movie - there were so many great tracks, I wanted to Shazam every single one!
I'll definitely look them up online and add them to my playlist later.
Overall, I'd give the movie a solid 5 stars.
I don't see any major flaws - I really enjoyed it.
It left me with a nice aftertaste and some great memories.
I'd definitely recommend it to anyone.
Thanks for reading, everyone! 🌺
