My Journey with Leslie Sansone Walks: A Review
I'm 44, and lately, I've noticed my weight's been creeping up. Not creeping up, but straight up - about a kilogram a year. It's not alarming yet, but it's a steady increase that I'm not thrilled about. I'm worried about the long-term implications, so I need to find a way to stop this process!
Another reason to get moving is my desk job with minimal movement. At this point, it's not about looking good; it's about my health. I've read that people need at least 180 minutes of physical activity per week to maintain their health. So, it's time to get moving, and I'm glad I can choose an activity that suits me. Even just a quick walk around the block would be great.
I started with a gym, and it was awesome - I highly recommend it. However, I've had to take a break due to some personal issues and health concerns (the gym triggers my migraines). I'm looking for something more comfortable and tailored to my needs. Lately, my go-to activity has been Leslie Sansone walks. It's like a brisk walk at home, where you wave your arms and move your legs. It's a great way to get some exercise without feeling forced.
You can find plenty of free workout videos online, mostly in English, but that's a bonus for me - I've been learning some English along the way. It's a win-win!
This is the first type of workout where I don't feel forced to do it. My hands actually reach for the remote to put on the 'Leslie Sansone Walk' videos on my smart TV.
I've been following Leslie Sansone walks for a few months now, and I can already see the results. It's not all sunshine and rainbows, though - there are pros and cons.
Pros of Leslie Sansone Walks
These short walks leave me feeling energized and positive; My coordination has improved significantly; My circulation and lymphatic flow have also improved. I swear, after each session, my face is rosy and looks years younger. I'm sure it'll have a lasting impact on my skin tone and complexion as time goes on. I've already noticed a difference, and I'm only 44 - I've been using a toner less and less lately. My endurance has increased;I'm burning calories; And, of course, the weight is coming off.
Cons of Leslie Sansone Walks
I've got two major concerns with Leslie. Firstly, weight loss is happening, but it's happening really slowly. To be honest, I haven't reviewed my diet at all. I'm eating exactly the same amount as I was before, and that's no surprise, considering weight loss is primarily about diet, not exercise. You can sweat buckets in the gym, but if you're still eating junk food, you're not going to see the results you want - you'll just be hiding your hard-earned muscles under a layer of fat.
I've also got a bit of a double-edged sword to deal with: my diet is already pretty lean, to be honest. I don't eat a lot, I hardly ever eat sweets, and bread and baked goods are a rare treat for me. But I do love my veggies! However, I also have a bit of a weakness for sausages, meat delicacies, mayonnaise, and bacon. These are all pretty bad for my figure and health, but I do try to keep them to a minimum.
I do plan on reviewing my diet and trying to increase my protein intake - there's a good chance I'm not getting enough, and I've been noticing that a lot of people (including my friends and a personal trainer) are saying that a protein deficiency can lead to weight gain and a lack of muscle definition. I'm a bit worried that this might be my problem.
As for Leslie, my weight loss has been pretty slow, around 1-1.5 kg per month. On the plus side, it's steady, rather than a quick fix that I'd get from a fad diet or a virus. I'm not looking for a quick fix, though - I want to see real results.
The second issue is that Leslie is great for health and weight loss, but it's not ideal for building muscle. You can't just expect to go from flabby to fit with a bit of brisk walking - you need to put in the work at the gym if you want to see real muscle definition.
How to Make Walking with Leslie as Effective, Comfortable, and Beneficial as Possible
I'm not a complete newbie when it comes to sports, I've got some knowledge under my belt, and I try to apply it to my workouts with Leslie as much as possible. Of course, it doesn't always work out, I'm waiting for the day when I'll be a bit more flexible and can go all out. So far, I've come up with the following:
It's ideal to work out in the morning, on an empty stomach, an hour before breakfast, and after a workout, I don't eat for at least an hour, preferably two hours. If I have to eat, it's something protein-rich (scrambled eggs, omelette, cottage cheese, a piece of meat, etc.).It's better to work out in cross-trainers, it's safer for my joints. Although 15 and 30-minute workouts, I can do in just my socks (I often do, but it's not comfortable, don't get me wrong).During workouts over 30 minutes, and after any workout, I drink water (still or mineral) with lemon. To enhance the effect and give my muscles a good workout, I try to use as much weight as possible: dumbbells, resistance bands, and barbells. Luckily, I've got all the gear I need at home, courtesy of my son, who's a sports enthusiast. I can replace some exercises that Leslie or her coaches do with my own, and I often improvise. If I've got the time, it's a good idea to do some strength training after a workout: push-ups, squats, deadlifts, and planks. I do this regularly, as I'm aware that after 40, it's CRUCIAL TO KEEP YOUR MUSCLES IN SHAPE!!!! Leslie and her workouts are great, but they're cardio-based, and if you don't give your muscles a strength workout and don't consume enough protein, muscle mass will gradually decrease. It's very dangerous!
The Bottom Line
I'm still blown away by the workouts I've been doing with Leslie. First off, I love how positive and adaptable they are – you can choose workouts based on your fitness level and schedule. No time? No problem! Even 15 minutes is better than nothing. That's my thinking, and it's helped me stick to it daily. Leslie, I'm forever grateful for that.
I've also noticed a significant improvement in how I feel – stronger, more energetic, and more positive. As for the weight loss, it's not been dramatic, but I'd rather lose a little bit consistently than try to blitz it and end up gaining more. So, all in all, I'm giving Leslie Sansone and her brisk walking routine a solid 5 stars. Highly recommend it!
