I'd recommend reading the instructions on the packaging for using this 'Lent-like' litter. I was thinking of saving some cash by just sprinkling a thin layer of the litter at first. BIG MISTAKE. It absorbed way more moisture than when I had a thicker layer (5mm). When I filled the litter box to the brim, the clumps formed better and didn't break down as easily.
▪️ I found that filling the litter box to about 5cm is the sweet spot. When my cat's little accidents reach the bottom, the litter absorbs way more moisture. And when they make a big deposit, the clumps form instead of breaking down.
▪️ I hate it when my cat does its business right up against the wall of the litter box. It gets all stuck on there and I have to really scrub it off.
▪️ When my cat goes to the bathroom, the litter gets all clumped up around it.
❌ DO NOT, under any circumstances, flush this litter down the toilet ❌ It doesn't dissolve and just clogs everything up. I much prefer scooping it into the trash (we have a trash can in the bathroom, so that's not a problem for us). The smell is barely noticeable since we take out the trash every day).
▪️ The litter does clump up, but it's not all sunshine and rainbows. If I try to scoop out the clump and separate the clean litter from the clumps, the whole thing falls apart - or at least most of it does.
And if any of those little wet particles make it back into the litter box, the smell comes right back.
▪️ Honestly, if I scoop the litter box immediately after my cat does its business, I find that it reduces the amount of odor that gets absorbed, and my home doesn't smell like a litter box for the rest of the day.
One thing that Lenta Cat Litter doesn't quite live up to is its claims. But I'll continue to buy it because:
