A Game-Changing Fabric Softener for Sensitive Skin
I'll be the first to admit, having a kid in the house changes everything, including laundry day. With their sensitive skin and intense reactions to smells, using regular detergent and fabric softener just isn't an option – it's even a bit scary!
My first fabric softener was Vernel, but I recently discovered a new one from Lenor at the store, and I just had to try it. I ordered it online, and the price wasn't much different from what you'd find in stores with discounts. Below, I'll share my experience with this product and break down its pros and cons.
According to the description, fabric softener adds freshness and fragrance to clothes, making them feel soft to the touch. It also protects the fabric from pilling, shrinkage, and color loss. Additionally, it has an anti-static effect and makes ironing easier.

First impressions count, and the packaging of this product caught my eye. It comes in a plastic bottle made from a dense and high-quality material. The transparent color lets you see the contents, quantity, and even the color of the product inside. The design is pretty straightforward, with a nice brown sticker covering the entire surface of the bottle. On the front, you'll find the product name and its main benefit: it's hypoallergenic. There's also a cute image of a kid surrounded by flowers, which adds a nice touch. The address of the manufacturer and safety precautions are printed on one side, while the quantity of the product is indicated on the other side. The back of the bottle has a wealth of information in multiple languages, but I'm lucky enough to be familiar with the product and its dosage.
The bottle is protected from leakage and has a convenient dosing system thanks to the plastic screw-top lid. It's made from a dense material and is quite substantial in size, which makes it effective at preventing spills and serving as a useful dosing tool.
IngredientsI have to admit, the ingredient list doesn't exactly scream 'eco-friendly' to me, but I can report that it didn't seem to affect my kid's skin or reaction to it after using it.
benzisothiazolinone, perfumes, alpha-isomethyl ionone, citronellol, coumarin, hexyl cinnamal, limonene, linalool, 5-15% cationic surfactants
TextureI'd say the conditioner has a sort of consistency that's not quite like water, but it's still pretty liquidy. The color is a nice pastel pink, and it's not too hard to pour. When you apply it, it makes your hands feel super smooth and silky. And, um, if you accidentally spill it on the floor, you might end up sliding around in your shoes!
ScentI have to admit, I don't really pick up on the almond and almond oil scents, but the smell is definitely there - just in different ways. In the bottle, it's super concentrated and hits you right in the nose. It's hard to identify any specific notes, but it smells amazing. On my clothes, the scent is incredibly sweet and floral, with a bit of fruitiness. It's not overpowering at all, and it doesn't get old even after multiple washes. My kid doesn't even react to it, which is a bonus!
I'm happy to use this conditioner for my laundry, too, because it's not as strong or overpowering as some other brands.
UsageJust pour Lenor conditioner into the right compartment of your washing machine before you start a cycle.
For myself, I usually choose how much conditioner to use based on how many clothes I'm washing and their quality. Most of the time, I'm washing around 3-5 kilos, and I use a whole capful of conditioner. For delicate items like wool, I only use half a capful, and I only wash them in small loads. Same goes for coats and other outerwear - I wash them separately and use less conditioner.
ExpectationsI was looking for a fabric softener that wouldn't break the bank and wouldn't require me to add too much, which would save me money in the long run. I was also hoping for a nice scent and soft fabrics with minimal pilling. Plus, I wanted the scent to linger a bit after the clothes dried. Fortunately, this fabric softener delivers on all fronts. The clothes feel nice against my skin, and I haven't experienced any allergic reactions or skin irritation.
RealityThe usage is moderate, and the scent is amazing – it's gentle and lingers on the clothes. As for the quality of the fabrics, they're indeed softer and more pleasant to wear. The dryer sheets work well, and the clothes glide through the dryer with ease. I've also noticed that the fabrics are less prone to pilling, which is a big plus. And the best part? No allergic reactions or skin irritation – not even with my kid!
