A Lemon Scented Floor Cleaner That Falls Short of Expectations

Grass Arena Lemon Floor Cleaner

I've been using this stuff for a while now, and it's seriously made cleaning floors a breeze. I've tried it on hardwood, tile, and even laminate - it leaves them looking brand new. The lemon scent is a nice bonus, too. What I love is that it's effective at removing dirt and grime without damaging most floor types. It's perfect for daily cleaning or deep cleaning your floors, and it's easy to use, to boot.

A Lemon Scented Floor Cleaner That Falls Short of Expectations

summarizeEditor's Summary

I was really looking forward to trying this lemon scented floor cleaner, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. The main rule of adult life is: the less you clean, the more noticeable the result. I've always thought it's ironic how undervalued the work of women is, especially when it comes to cleaning, ironing, washing, cooking... That's why I was excited to try a product that would make this chore a little more enjoyable. Unfortunately, this cleaner didn't deliver on its promise of a refreshing lemon scent and left my floors feeling sticky and dirty. I used it for a week and was thoroughly disappointed with the results. The packaging is sleek and modern, which is a plus, but that's where the good things end. It's easy to find in stores, I picked it up at Fix Price without any issues, and it's relatively affordable, which is a plus. However, the lemon scent is overpowering and gives me a headache, and the cleaner leaves a sticky residue on my floors that's hard to clean. It doesn't effectively clean my floors, I have to re-clean them multiple times, and the product is not easy to rinse off my mop, it leaves a thick film. The cleaner doesn't last long, I have to reapply it frequently, and it's not worth the money, I'd rather spend my money on a different product.

The main rule of adult life is: the less you clean, the more noticeable the result.
I've always thought it's ironic how undervalued the work of women is, especially when it comes to cleaning, ironing, washing, cooking... Why do people think someone like Mr. Proper will magically appear and do all the cleaning at home, or that some distant aunt will come over to help? It's even more surprising when this devaluation comes from women themselves. I remember a classmate of mine asking me why I'm not working, and I told her I've got enough to do at home... She then went on to say she has time to work and do all the household chores, iron, and wash... It was like I was the one who was doing everything wrong.
This is all leading up to something. Cleaning the floor is the most thankless job, because no one notices how hard you're working with the vacuum, mop, and bucket... But these scented products give our family members a hint that we've been working hard.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Place of purchase - Fix Price store, I've only found this product at this store so far, but the brand is pretty well-known.Price - 90 rubles with the store's loyalty cardBrand - Grass, which has become a popular brand in household chemicals, and I've got a lot of their products.Series name - ArenaScents - lemonVolume - 1 literPACKAGING
This bottle really caught my eye on the bottom shelf of the store because of its vibrant, rich color that shines right through the semi-transparent, matte plastic bottle. The bottle is made of sturdy, dense plastic, which is great because it shows you how much product is left. On the front, there's a sticker that blends in with the color of the plastic and the product itself. The sticker has the product info and a note that says it's safe for animals, which is a big deal for me since I've got a cat and a turtle at home.
The other side has more detailed info about the product, including the dosage for use in a bucket, a robot vacuum, or on its own, as well as the estimated 30 uses, although that number will depend on the size of the bucket. INGREDIENTS≥30% purified water; <5% non-ionic surfactants, EDTA salt, wax, hydroxydichlorodiphenyl ether, fragrance, colorant
The bottle is pretty convenient to use, but it would be nice if it had a cut-out handle like some of the Mr. Proper products, which makes it easy to tilt the bottle without worrying about it slipping out of your hands. This one's a bit harder to hold onto.

The plastic cap threads onto the bottle and disintegrates into one seamless unit.

I really like that the cap is also a 4-liter water measuring cup. The measuring cup is well-designed, it has two compartments, and when you pour the remaining liquid into the middle of the cup, the residue that's stuck to the sides will flow into the bottle's container rather than onto its exterior.

ORGANOLEPTICS From the outside, the bottle's color appears somewhat muted, but when you take a closer look, you'll see that the actual color is much richer and more vibrant.
I've got to say, the neon-yellow color is super bright and eye-catching, but it's not exactly natural-looking. It's one of those colors that'll grab your attention, for better or worse. The consistency of this product is pretty runny, like watered-down paint. The scent, on the other hand, is amazing - it smells just like freshly cut lemons, without any chemical undertones. It's really nice, but the aroma doesn't linger for long, leaving behind a subtle citrus note that won't overwhelm you. USAGEI've got a trusty sidekick for cleaning, specifically for mopping the floors. This is one of the best purchases I've made for convenience and ease of cleaning. I highly recommend checking out the bucket with a wringer and mop, as well as the vertical vacuum. After getting this, our budget-friendly robot vacuum has been collecting dust, and we only use it rarely, as it's way more convenient to use the cordless vacuum.
I pour the stuff from the measuring cup lid, although I usually just eyeball it from the bottle - unless there's a handy measuring cap, which unfortunately isn't the case here. I can pour it in when the water's filling the bucket, or after it's full - either way, there's foam, and I want to note that it's not excessive, unlike some other brands that give you a massive foam cap that spills over the bucket. The foam doesn't leave any residue on the surface - it just breaks up and disappears. And I wasn't kidding when I said cleaning floors is a thankless job - you can't even tell if they're clean just by looking. Even on 'before' and 'after' photos, there's no noticeable difference. Of course, toys and clutter are a different story, and can make a real mess, but otherwise, the floors just look the same. But if you take a closer look at the floor under the light, you can see the uneven surface, footprints, and dust settling on those same marks. I usually start with the vacuum, and then move on to mopping.
And it's not like there's a huge difference on the light laminate flooring either I've got to say, the imperfections in the floor are pretty noticeable, especially on the dark tile. The uneven surface really catches the eye. And since our bathroom is on the second floor with a big window, you can see the 'dirty' floors as soon as you enter. Although they're not actually dirty, the water droplets from wet feet after a shower do leave marks and ruin the look. So, I end up cleaning the floors a lot in the bathroom to keep them looking good.
The cleaning product works wonders on both laminate and tile surfaces.THE VERDICT
I've got a little tip to make cleaning more appreciated - do it when everyone's home, so they can see the effort you put in. I've been doing chores like cleaning, cooking, and ironing when my husband and kids are around, so they can see how much time it takes. And it's even better if you ask them to help with the cleaning, like my kids do when I give them a mop, vacuum, and cloth to make them feel involved.
As for the floor cleaner, it's great, and I'll definitely be buying it again. I'm also looking forward to trying out other scents from the same line.
Mr.Proper has let me down a few times, even though the product is more expensive. This one is a great alternative at a reasonable price.
