I stumbled upon a book called 'No Regrets' - or should I say, 'Nemesis,' the goddess of death, by Jo Nesbo. I found it in my library by accident, so I downloaded it just because I'm a fan of the author!
I'd read this author before, but I couldn't remember what this book was - 'The Night Watchman' or 'The Snowman,' both familiar titles. I thought I'd read the description and remember, but unfortunately, I couldn't!
I'd been reading this author for a long time, about 10 years ago, and I probably didn't fully understand what was happening, but I really liked the author, so I remembered them.

I haven't written about any books in a really long time, but I just couldn't pass this one up, I'd been reading it for a while now, hooked, and not wanting to put it down - that's why I don't read much. I don't need any movies or TV shows, books are way more interesting and there's nothing better!
I decided to write a review because the book seemed really ambiguous and complex to me. At first, I even thought about giving up on it because it was so hard to follow. The unusual names, detective Harry Hole - the main character, his ex Anna, they're all pretty easy to remember, but the assistant Beata and the boss were a bit harder.
Of course, after 300 pages, I was starting to remember who was who, but at the beginning, I just wanted to close the book. It's like they started telling us about a murder, but there were too many introductions, too much background info, descriptions of his home, the street, the city, and a lot of other unnecessary details. It definitely creates a unique atmosphere, but with so many characters, I got completely lost.
The narrative flows smoothly and gradually, sometimes even monotonously, when I finally figured out what was going on, I started to get into the story. It's hard to understand which details are important and which ones just add to the plot.
I love how the story introduces the main characters while slowly unraveling the complex web of events and revealing new robberies.
The central plot revolves around a bank heist, where a bank employee gets killed, and that's when detective Harry Hole steps in. He's a middle-aged man in his thirties, struggling with alcoholism, but he quickly becomes a positive hero.
To be honest, there were moments when I wasn't sure if it was his dream, his fantasy, or just an illusion brought on by his drinking. There were times when he confused his brother with the suspect and left me speechless.
He's got a single-minded focus on his goals and is willing to go all the way, even if it means risking his life! Nemesis, the goddess of death, is a complex 608-page novel that explores multiple crimes.
Harry Hole has a mission to unravel the tangled crime. The perpetrator was extremely cautious and left no clues, making it a professional job with no leads whatsoever.
I found it really engaging to learn how they solve cases like these. Moreover, under mysterious circumstances, Harry's ex-girlfriend, Anna, meets her demise.
Alongside his main case, Harry's also working to uncover the truth behind Anna's death. As mentioned in the description, he was given an extra three months to solve the case, and he's been working on it for half a year now – it's a case involving his partner's death, and there are many other unsolved crimes, so Harry's working day and night to crack them all.
Before long, Harry finds himself entangled in some kind of mysterious game, and it's up to him to figure out who's behind it. By the time I reached the third book, I was already hooked, and I realized that it was all about uncovering the truth.

I've had a wild ride with this book, folks. There are so many twists and turns, some chapters I even had to re-read just to keep up. Some parts are super chill, while others are just plain confusing.
I have to admit, I'm still trying to keep track of the characters' names - it's really only their actions that give them away. The book is divided into chapters, each with a title, but unfortunately, that doesn't really help.
Events are all over the place, with one thing happening, then suddenly the characters are off somewhere else - it's tough to keep up.
The author's Norwegian roots really shine through in this book - it's a real page-turner, folks! I'm not gonna lie, the reading can be tough, but I ended up loving it.
This is the fourth book in the series (Nemesis, Goddess of Death), and it's definitely one of the most popular and iconic ones. I'd definitely recommend it - I'm pretty satisfied with my read.
